I remembering seeing this with my mother when I was a kid. Now, if you remember, the original trailer used the music from Willow (another James Horner masterpiece), but this played during the overture while the credits rolled over an old tapestry. I remember being disappointed at first, but then fell in love with it during the overture itself! You did the pacing and the driving beat so well. Fantastic arrangement.
Thanks, Adam! Do you mean video, sound or both? This is probably as high quality as they will ever get without spending a lot more on sound/video equipment. Although perhaps at one point I might do one video in a professional studio
Hi, I just have a question, how do you play so fast and well? I know that you've been playing for a long time but is it just time and practice or are there certain things that you do to help get that speed and efficiency? I have been playing piano for about 6 years now and I would say I'm intermediate but with the tougher songs I'm unable to keep the speed and play basically without mistakes. So I was just wondering how it is that you manage to have the speed while playing perfectly?
Hi! Well, I didn't get this good until I had the right teacher and I played for at least 10 years before I had a teacher focus on better technique and started really working on hand positioning. Even still, my technique could be a lot better! It's a complicated answer. It involves lots of slow practice (hours and hours), using a metronome, making sure your posture is good (mine often isnt), making sure your hands are very close to the keys during difficult sections, making sure your hand bridge doesnt bob up and down when playing arpeggios or scales. Do you have a teacher who focuses on technique? Even then, it could still take me 30 tries to get a recording without hitting wrong notes. And even if I get a recording without hitting wrong notes, my tempos still speed up and slow down while I play - which happens quite a bit in this recording but its something I've always had trouble with, and probably not noticeable to most people listening. Hope that helps! Thanks for commenting
@@MattCraigPiano thank you so much for replying ,to hear that you struggle brings me some comfort 🙈 back when I was younger I had a teacher but we moved and our piano was packed away for 7 years and since then I haven't had a teacher but I've been thinking about going back to my old teacher for a little while in the hopes that she may be able to help, as I currently have no idea if I'm doing something wrong that's stunting my growth. So I currently do the hours and hours of practice but the metronome I can't seem to get. It either distracts me and I can't play properly or I can't figure out how to keep in time with it so I never use it because I'm not quite sure how to. I didn't know that about the hand bridge with arpeggios and scales so I will have to watch out for that! I saw another UA-camr say that he takes a small chunk of the piece he's working on and works on it until he perfects it, I've tried it and I'm not sure if it works or not? I certainly never noticed anything with your piece, it all sounded right to me! But then again I don't notice a lot until I play the piece myself, I have bought this piece from you but haven't started it yet as I don't know if I'm good enough yet. You play it beautifully and I constantly sit in awe of the way you play. You are now without a doubt one of my favourite players, I can't explain it but you just play so wonderful to me
@@tren-d4116 I dont know about other pianists on youtube, but its tons of work for me to get these pieces to this level. I'm actually trying to record a cover of Back to the Future today and have maybe run it 50 times and I'm still not happy with the recordings I have! Definitely see a teacher. Working on scales and arpeggios with a teacher can help diagnose issues you are having and how to move forward. Thanks again for commenting and watching the channel! I really appreciate your kind words and I wouldn't do this unless I had people like you who loved this music as much as I do.
@@MattCraigPiano hope you get it soon! I will definitely be looking into it, I only play for my own enjoyment but I'd still like to improve. Thanks so much for your replies, I really appreciate it
It would have been so much better if you had said that you learn this original partition (ua-cam.com/video/6itDunhm1wI/v-deo.htmlsi=1IneuftDk7u9X9W_). Nice performance but not very honnest…
All my covers are my own work and I don't steal other people's arrangements. I listened to the link you posted. It's a great cover and has similarities to mine because we both listened to the original and tried to copy the orchestral parts. If you listen properly, you'll notice 100's of differences, not to mention I covered the version with an extended ending which is something like 30 seconds longer.
one of my favorite film scores ever. thank you for honoring michael kamen's memory.
Thanks! Yes, awesome score
WOW!!! You captured it perfectly!!!! Loved the movie and the soundtrack!!!
thanks, Deeann!

lol I do that sometimes. Thanks for listening anyway
