I worked the private screening for this movie in chicago and we had a priest bless the room before the movie started and we handed out holy water and demon kits to everyone on the way in..... And, let's not forget, this is based on a true story! at the 24:24 mark of this video is when about 20 ppl ran out the theater screaming!
This is definitely based on a true story. I live about a half hour from the real 'Conjuring' house where the Perron family lived, and about an hour away from the Warren's Museum. The real story, as told by the Perron girls, is that the Warrens investigated the house, and were doing a seance when Mrs Perron began acting strange. Mr Perron told them to leave, and when Ed Warren protested, Mr Perron punched Ed in the face and kicked them out. The Perron family lived there with the entity for years. Last I heard, the current owners of the home are renting out the house for the night for ghost hunting. The Conjuring 2 is just as good as this one BTW.
here are all The Conjuring movies in release order. The Conjuring (2013) Annabelle (2014) The Conjuring 2 (2016) Annabelle: Creation (2017) The Nun (2018) The Curse of La Llorona (2019) Annabelle Comes Home (2019) The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
i think the reason they did not mind about the furnace , it´s because they were using mini heaters, you can see them throughout the house in some scenes.
Bathsheba Sherman (born Thayer) was born in 1812, and she was claimed to be related to Mary Towne Eastey, one of the women that were executed for witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, implying that Bathsheba was one of Mary Town Eastey's descendants. Bathsheba was a witch and fanatical worshipper of Satan. 51 years later in 1863, when Bathsheba married a rich farmer named Jedson Sherman, she gave birth to a baby. When her baby was a week old, Jedson caught her sacrificing it in front of a fireplace to Satan. Exposed, Bathsheba ran out to a tree nearby a dock, climbed up to the top of it, proclaimed her love for Satan, and cursed anyone who would take her land. Bathsheba then hung herself, Bathsheba's evil spirit continued to reside on the land, haunting her former homestead. True to her curse, Bathsheba would haunt the families that would move into her house. Bathsheba would torment the family continually, and finally possess the family's mother to kill the children before forcing the mothers to commit suicide. The spirits of Bathsheba's victims continued to reside in the house, along with her, living in constant fear of her and her curse.
sleepwalker here 😊 please don't wake us! We are acting awake, but our prefrontal cortex has completely shut down, making us unpredictable and totally unaware of our actions. Waking will result in differing severities of a stress response, but could also be dangerous for the person trying to wake the sleeper. Basically, it's being startled into full wakefulness, except your somewhere you didn't fall asleep and somehow in the middle of performing an action you have no recollection of starting. And it freaks you out. Sleepwalkers are extremely malleable and open to suggestion, so it's best to calmly turn them around and softly encourage them back to bed. (And If you're my family, make fun of them for what weirdo thing they did in the middle of the night. 🙄😃)
This is an old medical myth.. most modern experts would say the benefits of waking you outweigh the potential risks. Research has shown, for at least two decades, that the prefrontal cortex doesn’t “shut down” during sleep. It’s activity is just reduced and it doesn’t communicate with other parts of the brain as it does during wakefulness.
@@stinkbug_deity still, best to just lead us back to bed. Like the time I shoved my grandma to the floor and subsequently fell down the flight of stairs behind me after she woke me up, thinking I was going to jump off the ledge. And that is how I gave my grandmother a black eye and broke my wrist 😬 lessons were learned 😊
Mr. L Boyd continuously calling the film "this universe" to put far from his mind that the disclaimer in the beginning says it's based on a true story... Making it our universe. You don't have to watch them in any particular order but some of them inform other movies in sorta the same way that the Star Wars prequels do.

Ed and Lorraine Warren used to run The Occult Museum, out of the back of their home in Connecticut. They displayed items from their "investigations". Its been close to the public since 2019.
Ed and Loraine are real people they appeared a lot on a docuseries called A Haunting back in the 2000's. The acting wasn't great but it was centered around the people being interviewed on their experiences. Haven't seen it in years so I wonder how it holds up today. Also I think you should watch Sinister, it's less jumpy than this but great story.
3:42 As a Rhode Islander, there are plenty of areas like this. Farm, wooded, country, we got em all secluded type of homes. 5:25 I know of a couple of really old homes (like 1700's - 1800's old) that hidden sections, and those houses you're talking about from the 20's - 30's have hidden compartments due to the prohibition era. They'd build them in to hide the alcohol so if the cops came knocking they wouldn't find it
I have been watching you for years, and this might be my favorite reaction you have ever done. To hear that you have not seen Jaws disturbs me. You need to continue the Conjuring universe and watch JAWS!
I'm a high-functioning sleep walker, have been since I was three.(It's from childhood abuse and trauma, with brain damage) I can cook, use the restroom, and smoke cigarettes as well as sprint. It's normally caused by lots of stress or pain. When you try to wake someone who is sleep walking, it's a shock to the body. Some people can have heart attacks or can become the aggressor. The best thing to do is softly talk to them and remind them to go back to bed, normally that's what works from what my family tells me when they have to deal with me. The most recent one was with my cousin. She heard knocking right outside her bedroom, she opens the door and saw me standing at the wall between her bedroom and her daughters, banging my head against it. She told me that I'm asleep, I started yelling and hurling f-bombs at her that I wasn't. She told me to go lay down and I turned to go lay back on the couch, she covered me back up and I went back to sleep.
I'm surprised this was recommended to you, as someone who isn't really into horror... I've been a horror fiend since childhood and I still find The Conjuring to be possibly the scariest film I've ever seen. If you get a chance, definitely look up the real story of the Perron family.. It's quite interesting. Side note: I'm sure the choice of lens was intentional, as these events took place in the early 70s. The filmmakers probably wanted to keep the look of the film relevant to the time period.
This was great! He isn't the type that is over the top screaming when scared, he's a lot more subtle but just watching him is hilarious. I died when he put his hand on his chest like he was having a heart attack when the little girl scared the mom. lmao
This was an experience in the theater. Definitely not a genre for everybody, but I certainly appreciate you sticking through it Mr. L. I've seen a ton of Horror movies over the years, and The Conjuring series is a stand-out. IMO
At first, seeing your soul trying to escape its host had me laughing; but then, I could see the legit terror in your eyes. I actually felt empathy for you. Hope you can sleep . . .
The Exorcist will always be the scariest movie to me because it traumatized me when I was a kid, but let me tell ya something, The Conjuring is a very close #2 in my book. It was one of the 1st horror movies Id ever been to in a theater where the ENTIRE audience was freaked out and screaming throughout the movie. Lol It was amazing
Thanks to the video, I have photo proof, I worked with Nancy perron two years ago, she's a caregiver she openly spoke of her childhood and said for the movie even to make a R rated for showing it was completely watered down, but because looking into other dementioms, which science confirms 10 , was easily to have open mind shout out to Constantine 2 coming out soon
love your reactions bro, but the screen is way too transparent and the neon sign behind it really doesn't help. please at least move the sign, it would make your channel way more watchable. hope you reach 30k subs soon man 💙💙
You shouldn’t wake up sleepwalkers because their brain is immediately in fight or flight so if their dreams are particularly violent or they feel afraid, waking them up could cause them to hurt you or themselves. I heard a story of someone being accidentally pushed down stairs because he woke up his sister who was about to walk down the stairs while sleepwalking
The real story of what this family went through is way worse than the movie. They lived there for 10 years! Andrea Perron wrote a three book series called "House of Darkness, House of Light" that I recommend reading. We lived in a farm house alive with spirit. I don't say haunted because it wasn't frightening. There was a little girl who lived in the wall by my bedroom. Family thought she was my "imaginary friend" until she stayed at the house after we moved.
The Conjuring Universe has some of the best spooky movies. I recommend watching in Chronological release order, because some of the 'characters' in each Conjuring movie are being introduced to prep viewers for the spin offs, i.e. Annabelle. 😉
You should definitely check out The Conjuring 2. It explains what happened to Lorraine and it’s also based on a true story. It actually starts off with the Amityville story.
This is your best reaction ever. Usually you just disect a movie dryly and matter of factly. This was the first time you actually REACTED to the film!!! Only scary reactions going forward, please!
The real house is still standing. It recently sold because the owners were experiencing escalating paranormal activity. When interviewed, they said that no one should be living in the house permanently. Their comments to media after initially buying the house vs when they sold it was night and day.
I've never seen Mr. Boyd shook up like that lol The Conjuring does it again lol and what's even scarier is that this is our universe and the true story is 2000x scarier than the movie. And the case in long island is the Amityville horror house.
Thank you so much for this awesome reaction, I know it was difficult for ya, but that also makes it that more immersive! Hoping for more spooky reactions like this, awesome! P.s. Yes this is part of a cinematic universe, including movies like "Anabelle (and pre-sequels)", "The Nun", "Conjuring 2" etc.
Yes, true story, and yes, fellow long islander Massapequa it is the Amityville Horror. The Warren's also investigated that case. I still go to Tanner park for free live music!!!
As someone who use to sleep walk a lot and be woken up in a sleeping stage where I was not very mentally conscious one of the reasons you shouldn’t wake someone up that’s sleep walking or in a rather similar stage of being “sleep” aka basically mentally sleep but not physically is because they won’t respond accordingly to you if you wake them up. You might scare them if you wake them up and some people have even been angered when woken up in such a stage.
Along with the girls possible sleepwalking remember, night terrors are a chance you take by forcefully waking a sleepwalker. That can always tear the family apart. This is a powerful demonic entity, not even a power poltergeist which could be easier to handle. Even human spirits can be corrupted to the point of becoming demonic. You have GOT to see the original Amityville Horror and Poltergeist both being the type of movies that crawl up your spine and play a wickedly evil tune against the back of your teeth. Lol. I was young when i saw Poltergeist and i was thrilled although it did give me a problem with a certain type of doll. Lo
The house was bought on auction sight unseen so they had no idea what was going on inside. They were also too poor to pay for two homes at once so they had to move in right away.
I moved in my dream home with my children and husband 20 years ago not knowing that it would turn into a nightmare, for 10 years it was horrific i never had issues sleepwalking until then and woke up walking repeatedly into the wall like in the movie it only got worse paranormal activity was crazy we finally abandoned the house whatever was in the house followed even though we took very little with us to our new house only for it tonstart all over again so we moved and it continued we are now in our 4 th home and it didnt make any difference still a battle but running wont help
Aterrados (2017) aka Terrified , not to be mistaken for the clown one... it's Argentinean - if you hear it spoken of as anything less than the greatness that it is- it's being watered down... Haunting is the child scene- if yous know you know lol
This is the greatest rreaction I have ever seen😂 I am laughing so hard at your reactions because I was just as horrified as you are when I first watched it in the theater. You should watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre next🙏 The 1974 version, and the 2003 remake, are absolutely horrifying and masterpieces of film. It's also based loosely on a true story, like this movie here
I love your reaction because it reminds me of mine when I saw it in the theater. Some of the reveals you could see the jump wave rolling from the front to the back of the theatre.
Also, the movie Insidious, is the one that comes before the Conjuring. It has Ed and Lorraine Warren with the same actors, and it explains lore of that universe as far as how the spirits work and how the Warrens abilities and practices are
I think the Warrens and the people like them were mostly debunked. They were known to be very "media savvy" and made a lot of money off their celebrity. This movie, however, was very well made, wether you believe in the nonsense or not. They made several movies that took place in the Conjuring house.None of the sequels were as good as this one. James Wan is a very good horror film director.
You said that you are not sure if you could live in that house. I know for damn sure that I WOULD NOT live in that house. I'm not packing up my clothes, I'm getting the heck out of there as soon as possible.
With films in this genre, it is very easy for them to simply fall over on their face and come off as silly, wacky and stupid when not executed well enough. There's a mastery of pacing, building of suspense, of how to frame your shot and move your camera in the right way to create that tension.. and despite it making you feel absolutely terrible while watching it - that is the point after all, and if you feel that way the filmmakers have done their job to an excellent degree.
Interviews with Lorraine Warren are interesting. She has a constant look on her that screams I've seen some shit. At least to me she does, and that was before these movies came out.
I like how you keep saying “your universe” to make yourself feel better 😂. I like watching these movies but not going to lie the 3rd one had me messed up. At the end they play the actual audio of the exorcism that ed and lorraine performed. NOPE!!!! 😂
Pretty sure they got the house cheap in a hurry and never actually went for a pre visit. There are some subtle hints to that throughout the movie. Well its based on a true story too.
I remember when I was roughly in the second grade I had slept walked outside and halfway down the drive way then I woke up and fell to my knees confused, luckily I don’t sleep walk anymore
I always love time sensitive events in supernatural movies… like, so ghosts and demons and stuff respect daylight savings? If it is following someone, do they respect time zones of the person is on a trip? Like the person flys from NY to CA would the supernatural force be embarrassed if it showed up too early in that time zone? I have questions
They say that the family this actually happened to experienced more terrifying things that didn’t make it into the movie. The family refuses to watch the movie.
Boyd: Right now I'm a 13 year old girl living with my parents 🤣
I love that Mr. L takes the time, while being thoroughly creeped out, to roast New Jersey! 😅

Aterrados (2017) aka Terrified , not to be mistaken for the clown one... it's Argentinean - if you hear it spoken of as anything less than the greatness that it is- it's being watered down... Haunting is the child scene- if yous know you know lol
Such an amazing reaction. Love it!!!! Can’t wait for the follow up movies!!!!!
Thanks for toughing it out! You’re the best!!❤❤
It has Ed and Lorraine Warren with the same actors, and it explains lore of that universe as far as how the spirits work and how the Warrens abilities and practices are
There is an Insidious and an Insidious 2
@@DragonLandouterthere's 5 of them.
@@lungfulldrummer8921 There is no way they made 5 Insidious movies. That ain't true dude
@@lungfulldrummer8921 I just googled it and it is true😂 I don't remember seeing a single trailer or hearing about 3, 4 or 5
@@DragonLandouter haha. They all tie together pretty well..some not as good as others. But a decent series overall.
This might be my all time favorite reaction from you 😂.
I couldn’t stop laughing at his facial expressions lol This movie is hilarious lol
I love this side of you! 😂 ❤ great reaction.
Interviews with Lorraine Warren are interesting. She has a constant look on her that screams I've seen some shit. At least to me she does, and that was before these movies came out.
I live about 1/2 mile from that house. 👻
Not only is the furnace in the basement, but the exterior of the house has basement windows. EDIT: You noticed it too!
I like how you keep saying “your universe” to make yourself feel better 😂. I like watching these movies but not going to lie the 3rd one had me messed up. At the end they play the actual audio of the exorcism that ed and lorraine performed. NOPE!!!! 😂
Boyd: what universe is this…
Doctor Strange appears: “Warrens I’m assembling a team welcome to the MCU”
53:20 oh wow that is a really good argument 🤣
15:04 you have a lot of funny mannerisms but this has to be my favorite, lol. Your frustrated inhalation.
This might just be my favorite reaction to date :D
I live in an active home. Its 150 years old.
30:31 yes there are other movies with ed and lorraine. The Nun and Anabelle and I think some others? not sure though.
This is the first movie of the Conjuring universe. 2 conjuring movies, 2 or 3 Annabelle movies and 2 movies of the Nun. I think that’s it
This ours universe 😂 I really enjoyed this reaction Amazing 😂
25:09 full disclosure informative.-Ernie Moore Jr.
Great reaction! Of all the scary movies out there this one is the scariest.
Pretty sure they got the house cheap in a hurry and never actually went for a pre visit. There are some subtle hints to that throughout the movie. Well its based on a true story too.
I hope you continue the Conjuring Universe.
Now you have to watch the second and third Conjuring and then watch all the Annabelle movies. They're all apart of the Conjuring universe.
Yes there is a conjuring universe. It’s pretty good.
Watching bro scared Is top tier 😭😭
33:38 bro does not understand sarcasm 😭😭
Omg watching you watch this was amazing lol 😂
I am a big fan of door wedges pretty much gotta be supernatural to get past it or actually break the door. Better than any chained door
They say that the family this actually happened to experienced more terrifying things that didn’t make it into the movie. The family refuses to watch the movie.
I would love to see your reaction to Before I Wake (2016). Its a horror, but also has quite a few emotional scenes.
I believe the house was bought site unseen for a cheap price
I think Hereditary is more scarier since you can watch it a 2nd time and be more freaked out because of what you learn from the ending 😂
Maybe your best reaction yet? 😊
16:55 🤣🤣🤣🤣
