I was on the fence about the 500 but this pretty much pushed me over the edge to buy one. Wanted something between my M4 & Nimbus 550.

sorry so long, I just ordered the 500x, i also own the 450l 470lp, the 1 issue i have had on the 470 was the 1 way bearing, locked up fast, so i now only use 3 in 1 oil on the 1 way, bearing, also on the swash plate shaft tail slider, for over a year now, i fly 2 times or more a week, hope this helps,

Working on going this route. I fly a 300X right now, I figure this is the next logical step. I use all Align transmitter and receiver. Only thing I'm curious is if I spend the extra and get a Futaba or something that can utilize the rescue option on an Icon. But been researching and really liking the idea of this heli.

I'd say that sounds more like a quality control issue, more than anything. That seems to be an issue that's plaguing many otherwise fantastic manufacturers, as of late (maybe it's a flow-on effect from all the craziness in this world as of late?).
As for me, I still have my Align T-Rex 500 ESP 3G (that's about three generations behind your T-Rex 500X), & after 11 years, that helicopter is still going strong.
...& it can keep up with the aerobatics manuevers that I put that thing through.
With the blade tracking issue, that could be a number of different causes that go beyond your standard setup. It sounds to me like your setup is fine.
However, the main rotor mast, the feathering spindle, dampeners, main rotor blade holder thrust bearings & main rotor blade holders themselves can all contribute to tracking issues.
To a lesser extent, slop in the swashplate servos' gear train, & slop in the control linkages can contribute to blade tracking issues.
To an even lesser extent (...& this is sometimes the case if the helicopter has survived a previous crash), is a bent pitch horn or even the linkage ball on one of the blade holders being slightly bent (& by slightly, I mean the kind where it's not visually obvious, until it shows up as your blades being off track) can cause issues as well.

What are your thoughts on this heli after a blade 230? Or should there be more of an intermediate step?

I had a Blade 230 as my first ever helicopter for ca. two years. I learned flying by myself (used UA-cam, a simulator and I had quite a few crashes). I first flew in stabilization mode, then without. At last I could do loopings, rolls, stall turns, etc. (hence, a bit acro but no 3D). And then I bought a 500X with a Brain 2 (Ikon) FBL. No problem at all to fly and I really like this heli. I think it also is very good value for money. I have the FBL still set to "beginner mode". This increases the expo and changes some other parameters to make the heli less agile (nervous). Perfect if you don't have much experience like myself. And... Brain (Ikon) also has a stabilization mode and a rescue function. So my first 500X flights were with stabilization turned on (like with the Blade) until I felt comfortable to fly without stablization. A few times I had to use the Rescue button but I never crashed. Now also with the 500X I can do loopings, rolls, etc. If you take it easy (no rush), step-by-step then I think to go from a Blade 230 to a Trex 500 is no problem (by my own experience). And when I see what others can do with their heli then I realize that in fact, I am still quite a beginner (having great fun - the essence of it all). => two things I forgot: 1) putting together the 500X is not that difficult but to program the FBL and doing all the finetuning will take quite a bit of time if you do that for the first time; 2) for the first 500X test flights I had a training landing skid mounted so the heli can't tip-over

Somone needs to design a carbon cage that fits around your helicopter. That way you can learn and practice and not get discouraged from the hobby. That would bring me back.
Or just redesign the whole thing into a flying cage
