A number of years ago - I traveled from Whitby to Leeds via Middlesbrough. I needed to get something in Middlesbrough. The route by bus (one single day ticket back then) took me through Northallerton and Ripon I did that very route you filmed - but back then was a Darlington to Ripon service every 2 hours. Great route but LONG! The whole trip took all day! 7am from Whitby arriving in Leeds some time after 7pm. But 90 mins were lost in Northallerton waiting for the bus to Ripon. 4 different bus companies! TEES, a local mini bus between Stokesly and Northallerton, United to Ripon and Harrogate and District to Leeds. No surprise it’s known as The Back of Beyond! Interesting all the same and a few memories! I had family in Ripon too back then. Nice little town.
36still going!! Used this route in 40s and 50s from Ripon Railway station to get to Ripon centre, and to Harrogate, also United ran the 136 alternate half hours.
