How to Play High Notes on the Trumpet

    It's finished!
    So I left Episodes 43 and 44 for the remaining II-V-I pattern series; I wanted to keep all five of those vids adjacent.
    I say "High Notes for the REST of Us" meaning those of us who are not high register "stars" or specialists. My high register is okay - I'm not someone you'd want to hire to play lead with your big band (but please call me to play 4th and the jazz book, LOL!) - but I've developed a solid, HEALTHY high register by focusing on developing efficiency through flexibility training.
    This video offers suggestions on how to do this.
    A couple of key points:
    1) Just about any trumpet hero you can think of with an amazing high register - think Maynard, or Doc Severinsen, Wayne Bergeron, Vincent DiMartino, Adam Rapa, Andrea Tofanelli, Allen Vizzutti, and so many other examples - is a great ALL-AROUND trumpeter. This means they sound great in all registers, in addition to having highly developed articulation, flexibility, fingers, etc.
    2) Playing well in ANY register - including the high register - cannot be an "abstract" idea - you have to HEAR it! All of those players I listed spent hours emulating their own heroes, KNOWING what that high C, double G or double C sounds like!
    Therefore, approach your high note playing like any other register: with good musicianship and a strong concept of the sound you're trying to make!
