Great times for Comedy the 1970s, wonderful shows written with a charm and innocence to entertain the whole family. .....miss those vintage times in television
Omg this is Eric at his best and I've NEVER seen this sketch The genius of this man knew no bounds my sides are splitting.A forerunner to the anarchic Young Ones UC skit
I am about the same age as you and I grew up watching them from the ITV days in the early 1960s. I actually remember this 70s clip from when it was first shown. What an honour it must be to be able to say you worked with these 2 legends - and to be able to prove it!
that must of been wonderful to work with these two , we must be round about the same age , only used to watch them when i had time , but know im quite often on you tube watching not only these but all the oldies they are great
OMG!! can't believe it,I was Betty, must've been about 14 and the hairstyle embarassing or what!!!! They were terrific to work with, don't know how we kept straight faces, been wondering for years how to see this clip again, love you tube.
@Leona Bastet It was about 40 years ago at the time of that comment. After all that time it's not easy to remember exactly which year it was. If you saw a video on youtube of something you were in wouldn't you want to tell people in the comments section? You're coming across as a very ignorant person.
'The best' is a term that's entirely personal. Some may think Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis were the best........but they're clearly mental! Some like the Dangerous Brothers........but they're waaaay too left wing to be taken seriously! Some prefer Fry & Laurie.......& they may have a point-ish! Whoever is your favourite pairing should never be open to insult from others with a different preference. It's like arguing over breakfast cereals......pointless! (Anyway, cornflakes are still the best!)
@@irish66 comedy certainty died when this era of comedy died today's so called comedians are a funny and talented as a hot poker up you're backside they are absolutely talentless
Wow, so it is! I've seen this and ACO many times and never noticed. I think this is 1971 and probably soon after he worked on the film. Well spotted :)
There's this distinct difference, in my opinion, between British and American comedy. American comedy tend to do slapstick humor and Absurdity whereas British go for farce, irony and verbal sarcasm. But overtime, they kind of switch techniques.
Thats a brilliant story but I wouldnt be worry about your hair at all, I'd have shaved all mine off to appear with Eric and Ernie! lol I grew up watchnig them and they were the best and always will be in my opinion :-)
Comedy has certainly evolved over the years. I wouldn't say this is any better or worse than what we have today but the likes of Eric and Ernie and The Two Ronnies are pure gold and have aged well. There was plenty of below par comedy back then that's forgotten now so let's not make the mistake of comparing the best comedy of yesteryear with the worst of today. Every decade has it's gems.
Top of the Form c. 1970. Bramcote Hills Grammar School Nottingham v Leomester Grammar School. Geoffrey Wheeler 'who rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sundat to the adulation of the crowd on the back of an ass?' Answer 'Don Quixote?'
The young lads crack up when Eric demolishes the button. Credit to them for keeping straight faces the rest of the sketch.
Was the show live ?
@@ElvarMasson It was always recorded live.

When good wholesome family entertainment meant..
Just that!
“I’m not bothered.” 😂😂😂
The years when we had proper comedy programs on television and radio.

This is Gold. And I miss them. Respect. To Eric and Ernie your stars
LOVE IT SO GREAT miss them all grew up with them ALL back in UK

0:41 That's Pete (Michael Tarn), one of the droogs from *A Clockwork Orange* on the left!
Great sketch. To think that’s Michael Tarn, one of the droogs in A Clockwork Orange as Simon Stuart here.

Hairstyle embarrassing? No...that was then and it was the style.
Pete from A Clockwork Orange at bottom left.
This is late 1968 I believe- 2 years before ACO was filmed.
"Can we continue?"
"Shu' up!"
why is modern comedy so crap ??
love this
A genius named " Eric Morecambe"!!!
I think my dad was Eric's number one fan.
I can see where my dad got his sense of humour when I watch these shows.
What a FANTASTIC anecdote you must have had a brilliant time
Love the way Eric is being ignored
Half expected eric to hand his wig back to Ernie at the end of the sketch.
wish they where still with us..... FANTASTIC.
One of my late parent's favourite show.
The best comedians of all time love them.
Mastermind
all expenses paid holiday in majorca 😛
Yeah Two Ronnies were better but the best comedians of all time, if you looking at a pairing, was mentioned in the sketch - Laurel & Hardy.

That British humour and Britain have long gone now.
Eric looks like SEASON 3 farmer from Shaun The Sheep.
Ernie: "Who wrote 'Gone With the Wind?'"
Eric: "Laurel and Hardy"
COMEDY GENIUS!!!
Love em...always cheer me up xx
i love it when he tells him to shut up, hahahaha

Ha ! Never seen this on before !
Marvellous!
Well Eric?
Yes thankyou
To be accosted by Eric Morecambe is worth adding to your CV
Simon Stuart is Micheal Tarn, the droog Pete in A clockwork orange

I still didn't recognize him, hair and make up!

Haven’t seen that sketch before
Lovely stuff. The kids were great, weren't they?

Decent television 📺
How times change. Now they’d be cancelled for the last joke.
"I'm not even bothered" XD
very best of morcambe and wow his legs were thin
Why didn't Ernie say to Eric you cant see the join and get his own back.
Spot Michael Tarn who played Pete in Clockwork Orange.

Always a twist in the tail so they got the last word/laugh.
What year is this
Funny, especially as Ernie is the one who was supposed to wear a wig!
Proper haircuts. I miss them days
Yeah
Yes Thank You! I'm very tempted to say this the next time I play a quiz game.

Well Eric?
Yes thank you
Ahead of its time given the trend for ‘self identifying’ today 😊
Hilarious. Love it.

It's just about ok
2:05 Does anyone think ‘Betty’ looks like Ringo Starr?
Was there a British comedy troupe/duo who DIDN'T satirize 'Top of The Form'?
Wise would've been a good gameshow host
You are quite lovely, I must say. 😃
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 this is so funny
sounds like toad is in the audience
I don't remember 'Top of the Form'.
What year was this filmed? The answer to the football question should have been Bobby Moore.
1966 A COMMENT ABOVE STATES - I was conceived the day England won the WC - born 4-5-67

I disagree, We still had comedy greats such as The Two Ronnies and Benny Hill (although by the 80's his work had really gone downhill).
The sketch itself didn't make me laugh much. But the ending was brilliant.

Most people lack the personality required to be a successful comedian … like Ernie Wise, Tommy Cannon, and Syd Little.

No comedy show can compete with mind your language and two ronnies ...
The one joke wears a bit thin after a bit. Not really their best work. Was it by any chance some of their later ITV stuff ?
There you go. Nothing new in blokes wearing skirts. Can someone tell the young uns of today please.
Nowadays the girls just shout "patriarchy" & win by default of just turning up!
🤣🤣🤣
They may be great but they haven't done anything new for years now...
