Too bad the design wasnt a bit different. I think a quicker swap out would be better that way if your out and about and you have extra batteries to keep it going it would just be easier with a different swap out setup. Kind of a bummer tbh.
Someone else said that, but the battery lasts up to 24 hours, so you'll get at least 20 from it so shouldn't need to swap hopefully. I think the speakers overall size could be more of an issue for being out and about. The replaceable battery is more for when the battery's health diminishes I think, which they do over time. And tbh it's only two little bolts anyway, so not a big thing really I don't think. I get where you're coming from though.
Good point, but hopefully you won't have to because it lasts such a long time, up to 24 hours so should last around 20 for sure. I think it's really for when the battery health starts to diminish and needs to be replaced.
JBL says to use maximum power is ac mode, but it only recommends charging to 100% once every 3 months, is it safe to always stay at 100% with a cable and use maximum power?
To be totally honest I wasn't aware of that, and I really couldn't advise on it either. If you go to the jbl website and open up an online chat I'm sure they'll be able to answer your question.
@@MyTechTalks They replied that there is no problem staying directly plugged in, but idk I saw websites and UA-cams where lithium batteries are left at 100% for so long they get stressed, but they save the chat, I'll trust, I listen to music practically from the time I wake up until I go to sleep ahahaha
Well I personally never like to leave anything plugged in once it's at 100%, whatever it is. I just think it's safer to unplug appliances even when they aren't being used. I just like to be safer than sorry.
Not by jbl, at least not yet, but I do know there are battery chargers available on the market that might do the job. Ebay possibly? It's really new though so it's a bit of a long shot. It's jbl's own battery too of course so not a standard unit and therefore difficult to match with a charger. Good point though 👍
I don't know why, but the original JBL Xtreme 4 charger does not charge my phone or speaker. Does anyone have problems with the JBL 4 Xtreme charger, used for the first time and unfortunately it does not work.
Obviously double check power supply is actually coming through with another device, and if the charger proves to be faulty just send it back. Annoying hassle I know but what else can you do?! Hope you get it sorted one way or another 🤞
The only portable speaker with removable battery was yhe soundboks but it weights 35 lbs. I was looking for something lighter with swapping battery. Definitely will buy it.
I wasn't aware of soundboks tbh. Just had a look on their website and yeh it's a big speaker for sure, and replaceable battery like you say, thanks for sharing.
@@MyTechTalks I bought a soundboks2 five years ago, and also bought an extra battery, tbh I've only replaced the battery few times, but it's always nice not to worry about getting out of power in the middle of the party. Soundboks is an incredible speaker, take a look on it.
NO. WAYY!! SAME battery in this JBL Extreme 4 as the JBL PARTYBOX. STAGE 320!!!!! The batteries are currently £80 in the UK too, MASSIVELY overpriced!!
That's very true they are the same battery. Makes sense really though to save making too many different sizes. It saves manufacturing costs. One size fits more than one! I think they're a bit cheaper on the JBL website 🤔 👍
Are you talking about the power supply plug? If so it needs to be this way to accommodate a slightly thicker cable as this battery is bigger than most. If you mean something to do with the battery connection, I'm not sure what you mean exactly?
@@DarkstarDarth my source for this came from a new EU law stating all phones and specific electronic devices must have user removable batteries by 2027, you can thank our EU ways later 😌
They finally added a replaceable battery, but then removed the 3.5mm aux input jack! Ugh JBL, you're killin me!
Yeh that's true. It seems like they refuse to let you have everything!
Who even use the 3.5 aux anyway?
More than you may realise. Google it and you'll see 👍
2024 almost 2025 who tf uses an aux cord? They’re 100% right by removing it 😂
@MyTechTalks such an outdated technology in the upcoming 2025 is crazy tho
The Xtreme 4 battery has a capacity of 9444 mAh, while the Bombox 3 battery has a capacity of 9600 mAh. Both batteries are type 2S.
That's great thanks 👍
The replacement battery is the same battery as the one for the Partybox 320
Yep that's absolutely right. Very handy if you've got a 320 or are planning to get one 👍

@@MyTechTalks Hopefully, it's true that it lasts a full 20 hours of playtime. If not, then I guess my comment will stand, lol.
Agreed lol 👍
They are probably aiming for a bit of water resistance which is easier with a screw in.
IS IT WORKING IF BATTERY IS REMOVED WHILE PLUGGED IN?
Very good question! I doubt it tbh. I'm not with it at the moment so can't try that out till later tonight 👍
@@MyTechTalkswichout battery, play it (ac)?
Nope, meaning it doesn't work. video on that will be up tomorrow 👍
This is brilliant and like you say, about time but I bet they ain't gonna be cheap?!
Yeh a very good idea, hopefully won't be too costly 🤞🙏
I'm sure we'll be able to get 3rd party batteries.
Yes I'm sure you're right.
Currently £80 in the UK 😬
Yep you're right, just checked on jbl website 👍

how much does the battery cost for jbl xtreme 4 ?
No idea as they aren't available yet, ironically. Keep an eye on the jbl website, they shouldn't be too long I don't think.
100 dollars
Is that right? Not on jbl website yet so where are you seeing that please, I'm very interested, thanks 👍

Is it possible to use the speaker without the battery? Just the usb c power brick?
just watched your other videos regarding. many thanks!
Dose it work without battery only huk up charging USB
I did a video specially on that, 5 videos after this one. Check it out on my home page
Would be nice if the battery had a charging port..so you could charge a battery outside the speaker..that would be a game changer too

£80 is right, all but a penny 😆
Kudos for making the battery removable... cricicism for another proprietary connector... pity they didn't make a usb plug sticking out.
