I have made a ton of these. Salt is the heaviest cheap filling you can use. I say this because if you don't fill them up all the way they won't roll away, or at least not roll away as far depending how on how much fill you put in. For no good reason I get the the balls made for beginners. They are low bounce balls which I figure is a good thing, but I don't think it makes a difference once you let the 'air' out of a normal ball. Get whatever is cheap. I shave, ahem, my balls. Really I do. I like the firmer feel of not having fuzz under the balloons. But it's more what you are used to so I wouldn't worry about it. For glue I use some craft glue that stays flexible but sets fairly fast (I think it was about 10 minutes. Don't use super glue. For a lot of reasons I don't feel like typing out, its not a very good choice. But do glue the joint. For cutting the seam I like a utility knife with a fresh blade. I more stab it in with a rocking motion than cut. The full width of the blade is just enough room to squeeze in the funnel I use. There is nothing wrong with a longer cut, but I like to keep it as small as possible. Use an electronic kitchen scale if you can. Cough, cough I've been guilty of 'renting' a kitchen scale from Walmart. If you do this be nice and package it up nice before taking it back. You especially need this if you are not going to fill them all the way up.But either way a perfectly balanced set do feel better. Once you have juggled for awhile with a perfectly balanced set, you will notice if you juggle a set that are off by much. 110 - 120 - 130 gms is a good starting weight. You wouldn't think it but heavier is better, since it makes your hand close around the ball and has less tendency to bounce out. I find thin balloons work better than thick balloon. I put three layers. Definitely cut the balloons before you put them on the ball. It's hard to get a nick free cut after they are on the ball. It will take a bit to find the best place to cut. Shoot for about a dime to nickle size hole when it is stretched on the ball. But its not super critical. Balloons are sticky and if they touch they will shoot off. With a cloth beanbag they are a bit more forgiving to in-flight collisions. But you should be trying to avoid those anyways. Balloons do need to be replaced from time to time, depending on how much you use them, where you use them, etc.
Made these a couple days ago; they are pretty great, but i thought I'd put in my two cents. I grabbed all my supplies from the dollar store, which is fine for the baloons/hot glue(if you dont have it), but i highly recommend buying some decent tennis balls. I bought some pet toy variety and they turned out to be pretty hard and also kinda dry and brittle, which made cutting and gluing the balls harder. Also, you dont have to pack in the rice like i did, just fill it 95% of the way. I think because i kinda packed them in, that also led to my balls being hard. I like my balls, but going to redo in the future with better, hopefully softer, tennis balls.
Tennis balls get blown by the wind too much if you are juggling outside and they bounce away from you when you drop them. The rice and balloon covers prevent both of these things from happening. It's also good to add a little weight to the balls. I learned with tennis balls in a park, juggling over grass. This is a good idea and a good way to re-purpose dead tennis balls.
I personally use coloured electrcal tape around mine and it covers the whole where I put the sand in them so nothing really comes out also the coloured tape looks really great aswell. The brighter the colours the better.
Smaller balls are easier for catching inconsistent tosses, but a larger ball will throw more consistently (it takes more force to cause the same amount of rotation in a large ball than a small one). In the end just use whatever you prefer.
@TheBreezers13 they easily bounce out of your hand and bounce all over the place. regular tennis balls are OK for juggling but not for extended period of time.
The first balls I made were just balloons and rice, and they have a way of smooshing into lumpy irregular shapes that spin out of whack. They work though.
My friend's grandma puts pebbles or rice on a piece of cloth and the just sews the cloth. The work much better than regular juggling balls so im guessing these would too
You can also make juggling balls with just baloons and rice, get an empty plasic bottle, put about half a cup of rice in it using a filter (or its going to be messy), blow up a baloon put it over the open end of the bottle, fill it up, cut off the neck of the baloon, get a second baloon, cut its neck off, then pull the second baloon over the first one! and there you go.
I find tennis balls are harder to use, so I use them to help improve my skills. . . But your idea makes sense if you have some phobia about just buying real juggling balls...
@Rodo1991CZ i know this is hold so it wont help you but it might help other viewers... if you put some flour on your hands not alot and juggle for a while the balls will loose their stickyness
who cares if they bounce? if you drop them, well, chase them? it's your own fault you dropped them in the first place, but i AM going to do the baloon thing, that's awesome lookin'
Eric Zasadil Scales are cheap to buy, but if you do not have a scale, a good way to get a scale for free is to take the post office up on their Stamps.com trial offer. Do the trial, which includes a scale you use with your computer, then cancel (if you want to) and you get the scale for free. You get some free postage as well. ;-) Then use the scale offline.
If you do tricks where maybe you drop a ball at your foot and kick it back, or maybe you do a trick and it hits the ground with some force if you miss or if that's part of the trick, it would open up the ball slightly and leak a little rice, then the ball wouldn't be smooth because there were be a few grains of rice in the balloon.;b

looks like you're feeding the tennis ball some rice...
You can't un-see that...
lol i love how it looks like the ball is enjoying the rice

thank you very much i was very satisfied with how they turned out also they are my favorite size (2.5 inches)and i love the weight (unkown)
Works great! Stickiness goes away after awhile! Great vid.
Why does it look like the tennisball is a pacman eating rice?
@TheBreezers13 they easily bounce out of your hand and bounce all over the place. regular tennis balls are OK for juggling but not for extended period of time.
thanks for the creative and fun video

Neat musical taste!
I just use the plastic easter eggs I got for easter. They work fine, and are super cheap.
I made them and it worked!!

This music was so relaxing
0:45 "Nom Nom Nom....More. Nom Nom Nom....More"
Might be easier and not a whole lot more expensive to just buy some juggling balls.
great idea
nice vid. i used sand instead of rice and epoxy in lou of hot glue...*thumbs up*
for how long do you have to cook the rice?
What a great idea!
I find tennis balls are harder to use, so I use them to help improve my skills. . . But your idea makes sense if you have some phobia about just buying real juggling balls...
perfect tutorial.
This awesome. Thanks for uploading this. Ima make some white ones since I have a black light somewhere. :P
Lacrosse balls are good juggling balls for intermediate to advanced jugglers. But not begginers because the bounce is extreme.
is the rice regular rice or like risotto...or does it matter since its a tennis ball
fantastic
I've made balls this way and they work well. However, if you juggle outside often, the balloons get dirty very quickly and will frustrate you.
maybe becuase juggling props are expensive and unavailable in some parts of the world
think about that
It is Easier to do a small hole and then use a funnel
its better if you take the green stuff of the call
Brilliant!
They look quite durable, are they?
Neat music taste!
auto htan !;)
8a apw sthn paralia na kavatzwsw ola ta mpalakia apo tis raketes 8a tis kanw juggling balls hahahha ;)
Very nice. I like it :-bd
Excellent! thank You very much! :D
@Rodo1991CZ i know this is hold so it wont help you but it might help other viewers...
if you put some flour on your hands not alot and juggle for a while the balls will loose their stickyness
do you have a video of it?
Hm i'll give it a try i have like 50 tennis balls.. thanks :)
how weight ball will be, and is this REAL juggling balls or you make this up
Because regular tennis balls are too light to use effectively.
I went from tennis balls to juggling balls, the juggling balls I got are(at least) twice as heavy as the tennis balls.
@TheBreezers13 you but most jugglers prefer heavier balls than a tennis ball
Neat music choice#
Ian Black ,
Cool
who cares if they bounce? if you drop them, well, chase them? it's your own fault you dropped them in the first place, but i AM going to do the baloon thing, that's awesome lookin'
maybe you can just use rubber bands to form a juggling ball
Can sand be used as well? Or is it too heavy?
Sure. Then you have workout balls. Use lead pellets for an even better workout! LOL
This video is exactly for doing that, they are juggling balls now!
why not the good old baloons&rice?
raguet ball?
Can you also use cooked rice?
No
Juggling tennis balls is difficult for a lot of jugglers.
MY HANDS ARE SMALL :( when I go for the last catch I miss because I could barely hold 2 in 1 hand
There are smaller juggling balls that you can buy at a toy store.
legit (i subbed)
TANKS DUDE

But not nearly heavy enough to juggle correctly with.
Well looks like i shall change to heavy balls :D
Smart! Thx, : )
I advise anyone who is going to make these to scrape off the excess glue before it hardens. I tried to cut it off after it cooled and it left a ridge.
File it off.
Guess you missed that chapter of elementary school physics. No worries, at least you're right on the bouncing point.
Don't complicate your life with this. Just buy baseball balls, it's perfect for juggling.
I've had the same idea. Then you don't have to glue it.;D
try a lil oil on them
If you don't have a hot glue gun, super glue works better just be careful with it
waow
This was great until my house got infested with rats.
i would think that the balloons would be such a tight fit around the balls that glue would not be necessary. no one will ever know though.........
Better yet, cut a much smaller hole, about 1/4" max, and use a funnel to fill it up. Then use less hot melt or glue to seal.
Do I cook the rice first?
so they dont bounce
rice om nom nom.
but they have tell-marks
they cant be used for isolation's or anything where the ball moves in more than 1 direction
how much rice do you use
Fill it all the way
the hot glue on mine separated so i took the balloons off and covered the whole thing in ducttape
it nom the rice, it throw so nice, but most important...it don't have lice
Hey, next time just use your hand to scoop rice, it would be WAY faster. lol

lol, you don't cook it at all. It's plain uncooked rice.
it looks like he is feeding the balls
they are heavy
why? I'm juggling 7 balls with tennisballs - it's not that hard
You Don't Say?
objects don't drop faster than each other. law of conservation of energy. science shtuff
so you can juggle...
I hurt myself with the x-acto knife :S
How the fuck did I get here from Filthy Frank?
You could just juggle the tennis balls
Elongated Muskrat idk why he put rice in it
@@robertpakulski1738 so they dont go bouncing around if they fall, which they will for beginners.
I did this with a dull knife and tinfoil. Lazy mess accomplished.

or you just use the tennis ball
buy a glue gun and 3 tennis balls or...... buy three juggling balls :)
i cant cut the ball :D
they r just trying to help stop being so rude -.-
or.. you could buy some jugging balls
madbro? why are you here if you're not concerned about the price ? ;|
