A few things came to mind: - Good to see Bobby looking so healthy and happy - Grace has an enthusiasm and joy of being in the moment of the song that's truly authentic; she's a rocker through and through - I miss Jerry in ways that I can't put into words and his loss still to this day brings tears to my eyes
8 years later, and still glad to see Bobby so healthy and happy. He is cementing not only his legacy, but also that of his GD brothers by playing w/ D&Co. and Wolf Bros. They catch some shit for playing slower tempos, but there are already decades of live shows with every rocking version of every song you ever want to hear. Bob's not a tribute act; he's an artist, and he wants to things with them that haven't been done before. This is the way. Lastly, I fully believe that if Brent could have hand-picked his successor, it would have been Jeff Chimenti.
Ms.Grace Potter and her band the Nocturnals Have been around for a while touring with Warren Haynes Kenny Chesney Willie Nelson and quite a few prominent names. She has laid her own path with her Sweet sultry southern sound..
7:43 "Can't do Dead without Dead before Dead." I was there on that hot humid July evening and what she means by that statement was that "Furthur" was performing next after she completed her set.
@@nedgentz5740 I think leaving it out leaves the song more up to interpretation instead of spoon feeding the theme at the end, however it is a very lovely verse and I love hearing them sing it.
Bobby talks quite a bit actually. At shows he did most of the banter with the crowd. Yellow dog joke, everybody's favorite game "Take a step back". Bobby has always been a talker. In this case he probably just wasn't comfortable with the band, though this was actually his idea. He approached Grace about sitting in for a song.
Grace for president of all music academies but she must still play with everyone. And by the way warren when u do "gold dust woman"let grace sing the entire song
It's a Gibson ES-335 (I own one, fantastic and very versatile guitar) but it looks a little bit smaller than the normal model. I don't know what they call that. But if you look up Gibson ES-335 you'll find that shape/semi hollow body style Hope this helps
Not to make excuses, but even for a pro like Bobby, it could be a bit discombobulating playing a song in a totally different key than you've been playing your whole life
How could any of you Negative Nancy's say a single bad thing about this collaboration???? Continue criticizing all you want, DEBBIES. --from whoever was there.
I totally agree. Bobby has been messing with too many effects to his guitar lately. The last tour I did with Furthur I was right up front for 8 shows. Bobby's guitar sounded way to distorted and twangy for lack of a better term. Nothing like to good ole days.
I have seen Furthur several times and haven't heard the problems you have. Perhaps it varies show to show and you have just been unlucky. Though I agree his playing isn't what it was in the 70's but age catches up with everyone. Phil's playing isn't as great as it used to be either. Still fantastic though.
Got two reasons why I cry away each lonely night The first one's named sweet Anne Marie and she's my hearts delight The second one is prison, babe, the sheriff's on my trail And if he catches up with me, I'll spend my life in jail. Lesson - Don't be a friend of the Devil!

She seemed so excited, she didn't even realize that was an average at best performance. she started before Weir was even ready, then he had monitor problems. A little strange that she was wearing a bathrobe.
This Grace Potter lady should stick to doing her own songs, some of which are not bad. This version of FOTD sucks. Bob Weir is good, though. Always is.
Grace can sing. But, it seems to me she has no soul and she tries too hard. Sings over the guests and I don't know. Rich white girl syndrome I suppose. Not a fan......

Grace has to one of the greatest preformers, what you see is what you get, an honest, warm, beautiful human...and yeah, i am a fan..
Love some Grace
Grace has legs, too!
What a package.
And this, with Bob Weir, is a classic video.
Love this song.
I love seeing these two together!! Magic!!!! :) Thank you for sharing :)
thanks again Grace. Oh BTW you are beautiful heart and soul!
Love us some BOBBY!
had a great time seeing this
The great Grace Potter looking and singing as wonderful and quirky as ever.
She is so special
One of my favorite GPN lineups
Great.
God damn grace has got the goods
Ms.Grace Potter and her band the Nocturnals Have been around for a while touring with Warren Haynes Kenny Chesney Willie Nelson and quite a few prominent names. She has laid her own path with her Sweet sultry southern sound..
She's a Vermonter born and bred. She's got that Maple Syrup in her voice.
Not bad for a Yangee girl from Vermont.
Love Grace Potter! Still Love Bobby! I think it's awesome that he looks like The Lorax!
Bobby’s holding “The Holy Grail” of all guitars.
Wonderful. Together
2013 was such a great lineup ughh wish i was there !!
So funny reading your comments 10 years later
Hope you & yours have fared well
Stay Safe
Th’ World has gone Bat Shit Crazy!
☠️❤️☠️
Obviously Bobby has a great friendship with Grace. Beautiful!
Nice!!!
7:43 "Can't do Dead without Dead before Dead." I was there on that hot humid July evening and what she means by that statement was that "Furthur" was performing next after she completed her set.
Super merci pour le partage
She rocks!
Nice. I'm patiently waiting for SCI RedRocks 7-27-13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
never heard of grace,...but with Bob,...i liked it.
Oh la la , GovTo Paris POE !
I was there. She also performed with Further.
Is further a band made by some of the Grateful Dead members?
***** It's actually Furthur, but yeah.
Love that fifth verse!!!!!
Don't know why Jerry never sang that verse. Hunter always included it when he did it.
@@nedgentz5740 I think leaving it out leaves the song more up to interpretation instead of spoon feeding the theme at the end, however it is a very lovely verse and I love hearing them sing it.
It's technical problems. Those aren't his monitors, and his crew didn't set them up.
Grace in a robe, make any man collapse
shine on,Bobby!
come on people I think it sounds beautiful.. Its Improv..
Wow.
Bueaty happy and love do adead song sing

Grace is so damn cool.
Dam still hot in the fresh out the shower look , you go gracie!
How about those dead licks?🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻
Yep that is it!
que capo que es Bob
Is she wearing a bathrobe right now? It's cool if she is. I love their sound.
Better looking than the guys in Heart back in the day. Man that's hard to live down I expect.

Bob doesn't want to drown out gaces voice so hes telling the sound engineer to lower his mic.
I'm walking on sunshine, is a heart song, right? She looks better now with blonde hair than in the video on UA-cam. Have her text me back.
Wow, think I see Bobby smile here
I found it to be pretty, hey do any of you know the guitar bob is holding? like the model?
It's a Gibson ES-335 (I own one, fantastic and very versatile guitar)
but it looks a little bit smaller than the normal model. I don't know what they call that.

ES-339
I really like the look of it, helps a ton thank you, i really want to mess with one of these.
Tyler Jorgensen I believe it's a Gibson 335
also give him a break this is 3 months after a guy in his late 60's collapsed on stage
Oh and does she get the lyrics to an entire verse wrong or is it me? If I was playing with the Dead I would make sure I knew the lyrics.
Not to make excuses, but even for a pro like Bobby, it could be a bit discombobulating playing a song in a totally different key than you've been playing your whole life
😘
don't have video but here's something archive.org/details/gpn2013-07-20.mk241_16bit
Awesome video. Did you capture the whole Grace Potter set?
so she performs in a Bath robe?
Straight out her hospital bed to play, that's amazing.

❤😅🎉
That little hop a 4:05.
I totally agree. Bobby has been messing with too many effects to his guitar lately. The last tour I did with Furthur I was right up front for 8 shows. Bobby's guitar sounded way to distorted and twangy for lack of a better term. Nothing like to good ole days.
Bobby be like 'I hate this fuckin song'
I dont think Bob "HATES" any song. His life is music, but I think he was caught a little off gaurd by Graces lack of on stage professionalism.
I noticed that, too. Bobby is the consummate gentleman. Grace coming on a little too strong.............
I have seen Furthur several times and haven't heard the problems you have. Perhaps it varies show to show and you have just been unlucky. did she just get out of the shower?????? weird-
To much clothes if you ask me
Gotta love bobby it seems like he was cringing there for a minute ,yeah at the end of the song he couldn't get off that stage fast enough , ...
Why does Bob look like the Lorax here?
💖😍❤️🙏🇨🇦🌈♥️🫶
Blondes in bathrobes playing FOTD... nice
Got two reasons why I cry away each lonely night
The first one's named sweet Anne Marie and she's my hearts delight
The second one is prison, babe, the sheriff's on my trail
And if he catches up with me, I'll spend my life in jail.
Lesson - Don't be a friend of the Devil!
Grace has the music let's skip talking about the bathrobe. Ps. I'm. A guy
if only phil was playing, that bassist isnt do much
She should know, he doesn't talk. He only sings.
Bob weir looks like the lorax
Mrstrat and all the others with apparent real issues with their perception of what is happening, the given state of reality and their reading of what others' behavior and attitudes and what they communicate is seen: I really only have three words for you, up to you to deal with it: SEEK SOME HELP.
Counting Crows version of this is better, but it doesn't include a bathrobe.
Does Weir want to kill someone? WTF?
Did she say "do it with a dead member"? That Grace... Little sicko! Wonder if that cat is still alive... Man, she is messed up!
Bobby should just sit back and play on this one and not sing
She seemed so excited, she didn't even realize that was an average at best performance. she started before Weir was even ready, then he had monitor problems. A little strange that she was wearing a bathrobe.
Bobby forgot how to play guitar here... Grace sounded great, but I think Bobby was tired...
Like a Dead show could be great or not
God Bobby's guitar playing sounds horrible!
This Grace Potter lady should stick to doing her own songs, some of which are not bad. This version of FOTD sucks. Bob Weir is good, though. Always is.
...........my coffee grinder sounded better then this...
"Bathrobe" ? You can't be serious !
bobby is done unfortunately... a shell of what he once was
Pretty damn awful
Wow this sucked!
Nice bathrobe !!!!!.....wtf.......and this sucks !
Grace can sing. But, it seems to me she has no soul and she tries too hard. Sings over the guests and I don't know. Rich white girl syndrome I suppose. Not a fan......
Rich white girl syndrome?? She grew up in a commune with hippy parents. Rich white girl?
Awful, just awful. Her voice is horrible and the slow draggy tempo make this hard to stomach.
Imagine if Grace was in Donna’s spot all those years. She has a great voice and sings on key. 😂 What an uograde!
