I went to a gun shop last weekend to buy some shotgun shells for the next hunting season, and I asked, just for curiosity, if they had a side by side shotgun. They told they didnt had one, but they can find me some o/u. They showed me one they got a few days ago, and it was an Baikal IZH-27. I fell in love instantly and I bought it!. $470! My first O/U shotgun, and I cant wait to test it on the next hunting season that starts on the first satuday of september...
MR 233 different gun. His closely-grouped and a sharp fight, it is reliable in all conditions. Low quality control on it is not much affected. In the video, notice that the bolt lock box holder hand, and it should automatically close. This is due to wear locking pin. Need to grind roughness file. I had the same problem. I am living in Tula, Tula weapon known .. but rather a gun from Izhevsk. Baikal is able to do not expensive models, resource guns over 30,000 shots.
I've seen many Russian technical devices and they're always thick with grease. That is a common practice in Russia-but it's not a bad thing., as it's meant for a long-time storage. You can find some things that were produced in 1940's and were waiting on the shelf since then thickly covered in grease. As a result you have a totally new device that just happens to be 70 years old :)
We own the MP310 12ga o/u shotgun. We use it every week for trap shooting, and it has been flawless. The finish is on the dull side, but has very nice wood. In our case we used burchwood Casey tru-oil to put a gloss finish on the stock and show off the nice wood grain. The shotgun is about 8 lbs, but the recoil is not much due to the weight. We have a friend that calls the shotgun the AK of shotguns. They never die, and fire all the time. You won't go wrong if you decide to buy a baikal.
I apologise for my english! But you will wonder because this gun MP 27 in basic version in Russia cost about 600-650 usd! I think that they are demping the price outside of Russia! Amyway here also for examle Italian guns 2 time more expensive then in the USA and Italy)))). But what I really wonted to say - it is that we have other version, and this guns name what was entrodused here isn't Baikal it is MP 27EM. We have modification also MP 27M whithout extractor (or ejektor).
you have to try to shoot once with a gun with 2 triggers and then i a gun with one trigger...the choice is yours..there no:Take the one with the too triggers, its better!!>....no..you should choose your gun...not the others...also if your 13..the kick is gonna be bad for you...but you can use low power shells...you could use magnum shells later...
Of course you're not required to learn other languages when you don't want to, but it's always good practice to learn how to correctly pronounce names in other languages- it goes for people, places and also things-like guns.
Just came from the range, damn i just can't miss with this baby. U can even pull the trigger forward to make top barrel shoot first. Awsome. The sad thing i had to pay 800$ which is pricy.
@comphelpwithsam Wow, the specs I've found say ~10 to 11 lbs? Still if I could find a great deal on a used one at a gun show, I would probably buy one. How are they identified on the firearm? Do they use the name "Baikal" to identify them on the firearm?
@declanroch I used to like side by side as a kid, then after I started shooting more I see the advantage of over under (easier to aim) Now I prefer over under
Thanks GunsWebsites. This is fantastic information as my first shotgun is a Baikal MP-27 EM. Your video was so easy to follow. Thanks. Now I need someone to help with how to clean the shotgun. The videos I have viewed have not been this helpful. Any suggestions since I got mine second hand with no instructions. Thanks again
Over and under shotgan has a shorter name :Bock. These shotguns shoot the under barelgl first and the over 2nd. some has two trigers , the first trigger shoots the under barell and the 2nd trigger the top barel. Single trigger shotgun may could change the sequence.
The money putting chokes was 400 euros. Finally I sold my Baikal IZH and with 200 more euros i bought the Baikal MP 153 magnum shotgun. Is there any case to present the MP 153 shotgun?
Decent video GunWebsites! Thanks! What happened to the part of the video where you were just about to show 1 empty shell being ejected after only 1 pull of the trigger?
@ curtispa Well you can just pull the trigger, that shoots the other barrel first.. pushing it forward is just the way to change the order in which they shoot
your english is very good I think it would be worth doing some 'cold blue' touch up on it Cold Blue is a chemical process that will darken the bare metal
I forgot where I went because it was years ago.. but I did a quick search for Baikal chokes and found a site that had just about every flavor I've heard of and more.. I bought two from that website and they have worked fine all they sold was chokes, but I don't remember the name
I bought mine some 10-12 years ago so I could shoot my first time experience with sporting clays with my three brothers. It’s not the fanciest O/U like a Citori, but has never had a single issue. I think I $310 for it.
and then... when someone from another country says it, it gets said differently we live in the USA, and we aren't required here to learn every other language
A bit peculiar, but Baikal produced a model of the IZH-27EM that had both double triggers & auto ejectors. I have one of those. 28.5" barrel. Personally i prefer the double triggers over the single trigger, so i grabbed it up right away when i spotted it at the local pawn shop. From what i understand, most O/U shotguns with double triggers feature extractors rather than ejectors, so to find one featuring both ejectors & double triggers was a very pleasant surprise. Go Baikal! :P
* The one I have has double triggers, great gun. Bought it new in 1969. If one can't get double triggers, this barrel selection system makes the most sense for a hunting gun.
this is sort of a random comment, but you never see anyone sawing these off lol. i know typically they are purchased for sport and the long barrel is better in that application. i just find it interesting that the side by side double barrel was the gangster's sawed off of choice lol
I've heard from several Baikal shotgun owners EXACTLY what apmoy70 said about the oil being too excessive and thick in new Baikal shotguns. Removing all that excess grease and any other junk from the action, is critical for the long term reliability of these guns.
Sorry for my english one more time! And if you can spend two time more I suggest you to order in your store other modification MP 27 CTK СТРЕЛА (in Russian) MP 27 STK ARROW (in English). It has better appearance, two pairs of barrel better wood and blueing))) But notise that gun without lietter "E" doesn't have Extractor. Below is 2 links how it is look like! secod pair of barrel is cylinder other 1/ 0.5 chok! Arthur from Russia!))))
Good gun for the price. I say the price because you can get higher quality, or better cosmetics if you want to pay. But this will do a fine job for the hunter, or part time skeet/trap shooter. If you shoot thousands of rounds I would suggest paying more, and buying a gun designed for such. I still like side by sides though, not better, but as much, probably because the greatest hunter of all time, Mr. Elmer Fudd, prefered the side by side.
Baykal maykal who cares?! ive shot this gun for years and i love it, its a bid heavy but no problem for a 6 foot 4" and 220 pound guy. shooting 40 out of 40. its an all around land and sea hunting gun its a gun fo life, or a couple of years then you can go and buy a nice expencive gun with a big smile on your face. thanks for sharing
i've a baikal izh-27. This one is so rediculously reliable! In Russia the produce one type of full brass primer that has a real thick firing plate, and some italian shotguns sometimes cant even hit it properly and it doesn't fire.. but not with a baikal shotgun.. You can stick a nail head into the shell instead of a primer and this bitch will easily smash it too! lol
Actually i tried it with gasoline. It was a stupid idea because after cleaning i realized that the color has been faded a little. Do you think in feature will face problem rust on barrels? The gun is brand new! And i tried it because i saw it in the internet. Please answer me! (Sorry for my bad English)
Thanks, a good clear picture about the gun. Very informative. I am just getting into the sport and as you say it's a good entry gun (yest not basic) which provides very good results!!
oh come on man, first ya said that this is not the nicest O/U, then you said its like a cadillac, then after that you said it improved your scores !!! its a sweet gun and ya know it...
One more i need your help. Mine Baikal has not chokes at all. Only the standard barrel choke *** and * . Is there any to put chokes so i can use them like i want?
I have 3 Baikal O/U. Two 12g and one 410. One of the 12g is new in the box. I love these guns. Real workhorses. He mentioned the wood is just ok and I agree, but on my 410, I rubbed a coat of Minwax high gloss Poly, and it looks beautiful. Makes it look expensive. I'm gonna try and sell the new in the box one. I got a deal on it and bought it a few years back...I now don't know why I did. lol

Thanks for pointing this O/U to me in the chat. It still looks like a deal even at $500.00 for a 12ga. 28"

reallly good gun for about anything you wanna do.
Ive got the one with bar emetal reciever.

cool, hope you like it as much as I like this one
Of course you need to remove that thick conservation grease before using the device and oil it with whatever is needed for using it.
Great Gun , I have had one for years great value too,, built like an AK47 ,,
I have exacly the same gun. As you said very good. Value for money!
I apologise for my english! But you will wonder because this gun MP 27 in basic version in Russia cost about 600-650 usd! I think that they are demping the price outside of Russia! true, I don't think I've seen a small O/U either
@TheSwitijs
no, but I suppose it would work fine
@esh325
very cool, if they keep the price down, these are a great value IMO
I have not had any trouble with mine
anything is possible, but it might be though, I've never added a choke to one
I put it! I try first on a old butt. Thanks again, your help is alwats valuable.
When you're number one, you can say it how ever you want. Murica
@MrLoveslittlekids yea auto safe but takes a gun smith 2 minuets to change them to manual
shes a russian beauty,
Whats it worth?
you have to try to shoot once with a gun with 2 triggers and then i a gun with one trigger...the choice is yours..there no:Take the one with the too triggers, its better!!>....no..you should choose your gun...not the others...also if your 13..the kick is gonna be bad for you...but you can use low power shells...you could use magnum shells later...

How much price bikal...
My mother's ex boyfriend had one. I wanted to shoot it the first time I seen it, and she said no really fast, because I am scrawny.
Stoeger Condor is way better shotgun
hi brother can you deliver it me
@Crich775 omg the youtube cops r out again better benice grow up if u have something to say do it but i wasnt writen on ur page so bug off
Russian scrap...
GO TO HEPHESTUS.GR AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT A BAIKAL CAN TURN INTO!
Wow.. I never expected that question.. I guess you could, but I never would think to do that
How dirty does your shotgun get?
yes, bluing helps prevent rust, so when it's gone you are at higher risk
Just came from the range, damn i just can't miss with this baby. U can even pull the trigger forward to make top barrel shoot first. Awsome. The sad thing i had to pay 800$ which is pricy.
although i agree the O/U are easier to shoot.. I've thought about getting a side by side for trap shooting
I have two over/unders ( one 12 and one 20) and a side by side in 12. All three are great guns. Glad I got them while they were imported!
@comphelpwithsam Wow, the specs I've found say ~10 to 11 lbs? Still if I could find a great deal on a used one at a gun show, I would probably buy one. How are they identified on the firearm? Do they use the name "Baikal" to identify them on the firearm?
technically yes, it's not real difficult, but do yourself a favor and buy some old broken stock cheap, and practice on that one first
@declanroch
I used to like side by side as a kid, then after I started shooting more I see the advantage of over under (easier to aim)
Now I prefer over under
not sure it has a size, it's just a bead I think.. I'll have to look again
@zombieturd7
Not sure if they will.. would take a federal import change
@apmoy70
lol, as if russian oil is bad for a shotgun... good joke
when a shotgun like this is opened, the hammers are cocked
Thanks GunsWebsites. This is fantastic information as my first shotgun is a Baikal MP-27 EM. Your video was so easy to follow. Thanks. Now I need someone to help with how to clean the shotgun. How does "bai-kal" get pronounced as "bak-keel"?
correctly
+GunWebsites but Thats not how russians pronounce it...
+GunWebsites its pronounced "buy-cal"
both wrong its pronounced bay-kool
as a russian. you're wrong. its bye-call.
I order a o/u shotgun (my 1st o/u) its a remington spr310=baikal, so i found this video very helpfull. Thank you.
I'm getting one of them bad boys second hand it's in New condition a sporter with ported barrels :) for 770 euros they are a great gun for money 😊😃
Has any one came across a Baikal G620 o/u trap 12 gauge shotgun ? Are they still
Manufactured and imported by Milbro Sports
im looking for a shotgun for home protection, and i really like this desing, is it similar with a 12 gauge double barrel? is it good enough ?
no, but I'm not the biggest shotgun shooter
Decent video GunWebsites! Thanks! What happened to the part of the video where you were just about to show 1 empty shell being ejected after only 1 pull of the trigger?
My dad had this shotgun back in the 80's, i'm not sure if the same model but almost identical. This is an awesome and reliable boy.
@ curtispa
Well you can just pull the trigger, that shoots the other barrel first.. pushing it forward is just the way to change the order in which they shoot

not bad, one trigger
@kosmocookieduster
it's underneath, near the hinge engraved int he metal.. mine says Baikal IIRC
These are nice and simple, but more accurate than the side by sides.
good point..

The Spartans for approx $500
good job with the review... i have one just like this and i`m extremely happy with it.

i am having double fire problem with izh-27 em1c any solution other than cleaning that did not help any
I wish I knew more about them ..
i have the same..and it's a life
thanks, good luck with the project

Yes
Thanks, a good clear picture about the gun. Very informative. I am just getting into the sport and as you say it's a good entry gun (yest not basic) which provides very good results!!
What an idiotic response. No wonder the world views Americans so negatively.
oh come on man, first ya said that this is not the nicest O/U, then you said its like a cadillac, then after that you said it improved your scores !!! its a sweet gun and ya know it...
do u know what all brands of chokes these can take i know my gf charles dailt semi takes rem any help would be grate
@apmoy70 idk if oil is the word you looking for. cosmolene? ive seen how much they put on thare mosin nagants....
One more i need your help. Mine Baikal has not chokes at all. Only the standard barrel choke *** and * . Is there any to put chokes so i can use them like i want?
This guy is definitely not a shotgunner.
Dude, on order of fiering, the fitst barrel who fire is the down one, so on that barrel u can use largest screw in choke...
the Stoeger Condor O/U shotgun is in the same price range as the baikal but does not have ejectors and is made of soft steel...
wow every time i want ot shot i have to do that to shot the top bbl first wow how gay lol
The action shall now be referred to as "This thing in the back". LOL!!! I know what you mean but that was hilarious!
Mine is with double trigger. I heard that the one trigger it is not so reliable. Is that true?
nice review 👍
I have 3 Baikal O/U. Two 12g and one 410. One of the 12g is new in the box. I love these guns. Real workhorses. its good but it has 1 trigger!! mine baikal o/u super magnum have 2 triggers!!
@curtispa and i think that you need to learn proper grammar and spelling.
i bought the MP-133 instead of this one.
BAIKAL - pronounced "By- Call" As in Lake Baikal - a like in Russia.
