Random question but why do Dutch firefighters turn off the emergency blue lights when they arrive at the fires?
because that is not very nice for this Polish gentleman to hear sirens. and I think it was night
Blue lights and sirene indicate that it is an emergency vehicle that has right of way. At the moment it reaches the scene of the accident or fire, there is no need for right of way anymore. At that moment the amber lights will be switched on to indicate there is a hazardous situation for the other traffic and they need to be careful. Sometimes you might see a vehicle that keeps the blue lights on for extra attention. Also you might see vehicles (police and ambulance) with green lights switched on. This is during major emergencies with multiple rescue vehicles, then the green light indicates where new arriving units should report for further instructions.
Here in Finland we keep the blue lights on when we have arrived to the scene of the accident, to alert other road users that there has been an accident and to slow down mainly because we dont have the yellow lights on our trucks. Also the blue lights can be seen at a farther distance away letting other people know sooner that there is an accident ahead. Greetings from Finland!
Blue lights also attract more attention/people to the scene and can be distracting for other traffic.
I have seen both. Keeping them on for safety, but also off when not needed.

@Game Vision En terecht ook natuurlijk. Wat iemand een "slootje" noemt, kan ook gewoon een kanaal zijn. Iemand die gewend is om met gigantische containerschepen te varen vind zelfs de grote rivieren in Nederland maar slootjes. Beter het zekere voor het onzekere. Het zou niet de eerste keer zijn dat een incident als klein beschreven wordt aan de telefoon en uiteindelijk toch een stuk groter blijkt te zijn.
eventjes met de warmtebeeldcamera op de zetels kijken, kan ook een hulpmiddel zijn.

It is a small village. The scene was I think 2 km's away from the station
In the Netherlands you have to be in a 5km (3.1 miles) range to be able to volunteer.
every brigade has its own area to cover... usually there's a brigade per village/town per municipality (so when a municipality has multiple villages in it, every village will have its own brigade... the big cities usually have multiple brigades... but basically a brigade has a maximum time (between 5-10 minutes depending on the type of incident, type of building (residential or office etc...)) from the moment their pager goes to the moment they arrive on scene, if they cannot reach that time, then another location will be appointed for an additional brigade to make sure there's proper coverage... (a fire truck has to be able to leave the station within 3 minutes of the pagers going off...)... those times are set in stone (law), but they may change per region (cities have shorter times than rural areas, due to the difference number of inhabitants and the chances of, for example, a fire spreading to neighbouring buildings...)... the location of the incident was within 4.1km's (2.5 miles) from station (depending on the exact spot of that road since the Meulunterseweg is a very long one), which is a 6 minute drive (so that's well within the limits of their area)...

Zover bij mij bekend is zitten er in de stoelen sensors die detecteren of er iemand op zit of niet. In het geval van niet gaat de airbag ook niet af. Als ik het goed zie zijn beiden airbags afgegaan dus meest aannemelijke is dat de bestuurder onder invloed was en de benen heeft genomen. Of de bijrijder had iets te verbergen en is op de loop gegaan.
meestal in zo'n geval is het de bestuurder die dronken is of drugs gebruikt heeft en de benen heeft genomen... politie doet namelijk niets als t de bijrijder is die dronken is of drugs gebruikt heeft... ze kunnen praktisch alleen actie ondernemen wanneer het bewezen is dat de dronken/drugs-persoon gezien is achter het stuur met de motor draaiend... helaas ligt de bewijslast daarvoor bij de politie...
Ik vraag me dus af hoe the f doe je da zo snel met je go-pro heb je die altijd geïnstalleerd staan op je kleding/jas
sommige zie je letterlijk met de camera tussen de tanden fietsen of aan komen rennen in sommige van de videos... en vaak zie je de mannen achterin een camera op een jas vastzetten of verplaatsen...

Ofcourse. Cities have professional firefighters, but smaller towns often have volunteer ones.
yep... the ones higher up in the organization are the paid ones (such as area or regional commanders), but the majority is made up with volunteers, both in big cities and rural areas... doesn't matter whether you get paid or not, both get the same training...

@@fredjonkman2969 niet iedereen kan altijd komen. Als de een aan de andere kant van NL zit of erger is het natuurlijk onmogelijk om naar de kazerne te komen.
@@de.meldkamer uiteraard daarom zijn ze met 16-18 man, maar er zijn altijd opmerkingen over het aantal mensen dat meegaat. Er zijn 6 plekken achterin, die mogen allemaal gebruikt worden.
6 man achterin... meestal rijden ze zodra ze vol zijn, degenen die daarna nog aan komen rennen komen vaak met de andere auto of met persoonlijke auto alsnog er achteraan afhankelijk van t type melding...
