"pigs have very few predator issues" Understatement of the decade right here 😂 Humans are pretty much the only species crazy enough to mess with pigs. Hell, even wolves aught to have a devil of a time dealing with a herd of pissed off 200-300 pound pork chops charging at them...
Ha, I get the first comment! Excellent vid, thanks for sharing! We have started non selective grazing, stopped using wormers, fly poison, etc... I planted a cover crop in a field that is not productive. It's not growing well due to not much rain. We found that we now have dung beetles on our land, which is exciting!
It’s always great to see the dung beetles isn’t it! Soil moisture for sure plays a huge role in cover crop success, but keep giving it a try. It will pay off in the end!
One of these days in the near future, I hope to have something like you have Rob. I look forward to your videos, they are an inspiration for what I would do here in ks
Hey Rob, I really appreciate you investing the time, money and energy into inviting us along your journey. I feel like I can see myself troubleshooting right along with you the way you’ve outlined your story. Have you moved to only managing pasture and livestock at this time or do you stillplant crops such as soybean and corn anymore? Thanks.
@@DowdleFamilyFarms you're welcome. I love the content and way you have let yourself find the ways that work. It truly is impressive stuff, I think the world will look back at what you have done. You have a lot to give to the agriculture world with your knowledge, if you have a big idea. Do it please. 💡
well two thoughts you could maybe think about: 1) Deep tilling carbon ("Terra Preta") - Increasing carbon in form of char coal and tilling it deep into the ground as "starter" and buffer for nutrients and 2) deep rooting cover crops. hemp / chickpeas.... 3) maybe wood chips on legume fields could be a cheaper alternative for char coal. from all ideas maybe idea number 3) would be one very interesting point: tilling deep wood flakes/chips and seeding legumes.
Do you only sell locally? I got interested in a crawfish farm channel that ships across the US, you might be able to find a similarly interested customer base who want to eat really good pasture raised pork. I only bring it up because I've never heard you mention selling it in your videos, and idk if that's because you don't, or just don't like to advertise so much, but I think people might like to hear about it if it's available. I'm in Canada, so it's harder to get food shipped across the border (and I should be eating local tbh) but I would like to at least have a taste for comparison purposes.
You speak of what you don’t know. We don’t need YT income to survive. Frankly, the YT add revenue isn’t worth the time we put into it on a dollar basis. Just trying to help people out.

Thanks, will do!
It's the circle of life. Mother Nature takes care of herself, if we only get out of her way.
For sure!

Shame he doesn't believe in science.
@@buildmotosykletist1987 ???? Thank God he doesn't join that new religion that gave us climate change and the jab
I wonder who'll buy your land when you're bankrupt.
We are profitable the way we are. It works well for us.
