In changing out my timing chain on my 79 F150, I noticed on the cam thrust washer has some very noticeable wear. The upper gear attached to the cam touches that thrust washer. Should that washer be replaced?
Hey Jeff, when you guys put in the 5.0 are you going carb? If so, if you could detail the changes you have to make to the motor to swap from FI to carb, that would be great. Thanks!
We will be going carb. While we are interested in the FI tech EFI, the carburetor is still the cheapest way to go. Oddly not much needs to be changed to make the conversion.
Hey Jeff and Co. hope you can point me in the right direction. I've gotten to TDC, aligned the marks, removed the sprockets, put on a new chain, reinstalled the chain and sprockets, made sure everything was aligned at TDC on comp stroke of cylinder one. I can't get the engine to turn over by hand anymore. I discovered this when I was trying to drop the oil pan to reseal it, couldn't get past the cap on cylinder six, went to turn the engine to get it out of the way, and found I couldn't turn the engine. It turns backwards easier than forwards and when it does encounter resistance it "springs back" after I release pressure. I have all the spark plugs out so there isn't compression. I'm scared valves might be hitting cylinders. Do I need to pull the valve cover to see what the rockers are doing which will tell me where along the cam rotation I am? I'm pretty alarmed, I don't want to make another move before I get some input from the pros. To add- This is a 66 with a 200ci and bone stock.
Ya I would like to see that video . Just need intake dual plan .. throttle cable...Ford dura spark distributor and brain .plus new timing chain cover for mechanical fuel pump. Drop gas tank remove pump .use gas hose same length as pump .and some fuel line work to get line hooked up to carb and return line to pump
Hey I'am a german guy and i have to change the chain on a Ford FE 390 BB engiene. Do you know the exact torque with which the two main screws must be tightened on my engiene? Any help would be grate, thanks :)
you won me over when you said "we don't have the tools" cuz we cant afford them
With timing cover off remove distributor cap align marks on cam and crank , with rotor pointing too number one cylinder on cap .
Good to know. Brass hammer is a good tool to have in the garage.

Right but the fuel pump issue, the distributor and such, if you could touch base on those changes that would be great. Thanks for the great videos!

Why didn't you clean the gasket surface when you had the old chain and gears off ???
We did off camera.
Late model 5.0 HO to carb video would be helpful. Distributor swap, timing cover, mech fuel pump etc

Hi
We can do it for marsedes cl500 ?
Thanks
I'm sure I can't, but you might be able to! I have not ever dealt with a Mercedes.
Hey! Thanks for that video! Why is it not enoth to lign up the timing marks, does the engine really have to be on tdc? Greets
Yes. It definitely does need to be at TDC the marks assure that the cam and crank are correctly timed.
very important video. thanks
The most dangerous way to find TDC I've ever seen
Dangerous like a red head or dangerous like a claymore? I think your danger and mine are at different levels
Thanks
No problem
Why don't you just use the rotor and cap to find number 1 compression stroke
You can do that...but the method we used is more accurate.
Ya ok than
