I wish they still had the wood hoops on the bass drums like the older models ..

Both of them are standing right in front of the drum sets.

I bought a original Rydeen kit years ago as a starter kit......and never found a reason to replace it. I use clear ambassador skins and never found the need to stick a duvet in the kick drum. It's a wonderful kit. The only bit I don't use is the snare which sounds fine but I picked up a 14x6.5 Yamaha Bamboo before they started to sell for silly money....a very loud snare. Buy this shell pack and put as much money as you can into your cymbals, you can tune up a cheaper drum to sound good but you're stuck with whatever a cymbal sounds like. My original Rydeen kit came with nice hardware but the cymbals were like rubbish /garbage bin lids...waste of time so I'm glad Yamaha have avoided the temptation to include them this time. Cheers!

I'm thinking of getting just the floor tom in mellow yellow to add to my Hip Gig kit. Any thoughts? Price is important.

it looks like these do not have the rubber gaskets on the lug casings like the Gigmakers did. I appreciated them and i wonder why these dont?

Riccardo Spadano I had the discontinued Rydeens and they were very solid. Great kit to start on. Durable, portable, and they sounded great for the price. That said, if I were you I'd try to get them used. My experience with Gigmakers is limited, but I prefer the Rydeen from what I've played
