    This segment focuses on the tripod series from the bottom position. Coach Sioredas demonstrates different techniques of the tripod depending on the opponent's reactions.
    This video was shot during the 3rd annual Preseason Training Day "The Original Super 32 Prep Camp" on October 24, 2011 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.

    I really like this video. I have to admit when I first started seeing videos about tripod standups I ignored them. I thought the practitioners must not know what they were talking about. After all, my high school coach had told us to never put our rears in the air in the referee's position because you would open to a cradle.
    And yet, toward the end of the video the coach discusses how to avoid being cradled by using a knee dip and hand control. So, I am seeing things a bit differently now and am open to this technique.
    I think learning a conventional standup is still a crucial part of a wrestler's education and yet I think there is value in learning the tripod standup as well and may work better for some at least in certain situations.       schwnfs we had the same thoughts about the trip-pod, and it took us a long time to jump on the trip-pod wagon. the best were doing it successfully and we had to learn and implement. glad you enjoyed the video
