Dude, been watching you for a while now. I have a question. Whats your process for chopping up samples and beats? I havent got the cash for an MPC at the moment, but I'm saving. At the moment I'm using a launchpad with a desktop PC which is as close as I can get for the time being. I love chopping up some breaks with an audio file editor and loading them into FL Studio to do almost the same. But, I'm struggling for inspiration when it comes to what music to use for samples and how best to chop them up, length of samples etc. I respect your skills and would love to know more about your process.
Would require more space than I have here to fully answer your great question. One thing I might say about chopping samples is that if the drums are banging hard enough, you can chop almost anything to it. I don't always have a plan when I find a sample, but that's (more than) half the fun of it. Initially I was always trying to find samples without drums, isolated instruments, to add drums to, but there's ways of making almost anything work. If you're interested, you can book me for a personal tutorial, where I can break down my process for you, see where you're at and help you take the next step. DM me on IG or Twitter if you're interested. Best.
