  • In the 2014 San Francisco Bay to Breakers, a mob of runners stole the Coit Tower, and it took a band of superheroes to come to the rescue. May 18, 2014, was quite an epic day for the 103rd annual Bay to Breakers footrace through the streets of San Francisco. More than 40,000 runners/party-goers, many dressed in bizarre costumes or dressed at all competed in the famous 12K street-race.
The Bay to Breakers was started in 1906, aimed at lifting the city's spirits following the disastrous San Francisco earthquake and fire. It is the longest consecutively run footrace in the world.
The race started near the Embarcadero up Mission Street, up Hays Hill, along the panhandle and into Golden Gate Park and ending at the Great Highway (Ocean Beach). This video was captured with my Gopro Hero 3 camera.
Somewhere along the way, a mob hijacked the famed Coit Tower, which has stood atop Telegraph Hill since 1933. The art deco tower was rescued and returned by a band of superheroes by the end of the day.
