I've been a super fan of Ray Brown, since I started listening to Jazz...5 decades ago. Maestro Brown's swinging bass lines, and his, "music is the greatest thang, ever" attitude won me over as a kid, and still thrills this oldster, today. There are many great bassists, no doubt, but RB had/has it all. // Thanks for this "RB Appreciation", and your ever-present enthusiasm.
Though he wrote this he was apparently on with Steve Allen putting his name to it when he asked him to put lyrics to it. Unlike the Beatles sharing works that didn’t happen here. Is a great little ditty as I like to call it though and is a tune I’ve heard many times. Great stuff again these upright bass guys don’t get the love they deserve but hopefully you can change that.
youve introduced ray brown to many people around the world through your work. "this type of improvisation has always really spoken to me". you are truly a student of the master and best of all, it doesnt end there because a teacher teaches. we are indebted to you maestro.
Fantastic work mr pd . Was watching a Eddie Harris gig on UA-cam with Bradley bo bo on 6string ! The only man sI’ve seen more Thant you with an expressive face , thanks for what you do , much appreciated , best wishes to you and your subscribers !
I've now seen enough of your videos and I sure do like them. As my picture shows, I also play the Bass, both stand up and electric. You could be the Rick Beato of the Bass World as you build your body of work. I'll be checking you our more. Keep up the great work.
MY MAN!❤💣😉😂👊🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Love your videos AND the comments sections of them, too(heh heh 😉). Love the Ray Brown Grease, thank you.🙏 The usual high-quality content here!
Love your videos when you cover guys like Ray & Ron Carter, both amazing musicians. I had the pleasures of meeting Ray Brown once or twice (my bass teacher was also a promoter and brought him to Ft Wayne a few times). They remain some good memories! Oddly enough, you've introduced me to a Ray Brown tune that I was unfamiliar with, and will have to start enjoying!!
Thankyou for doing this. Not enough people know about the legend and impact that Ray is and has on the art form. Less is sometimes so much more. Love his soulful contribution to all that he shared in creating with. Especially the power of the Oscar Peterson Trio !!!!
I find this to be an odd and slightly disturbing title for a song. I see a ballroom with elegant dancers and the elevator doors open like in The Shining and now here comes the gravy.
I haven't heard a lot of Ray Brown's music that I know of. I did watch Steve Allen's show a few times, I was more into Allen's playing and. Motown. Q's Killer Joe is what I love though. I have liked all sorts of music, but my musical understanding is so very limited. I love bass grooves, but I've never put any time into it. I really appreciate what you're doing and I try not to kick my ass over not trying. I have a P style bass that screams at me but I tell it I'm to old. I've seen Jack twice in 78 and 79, Charles Meeks with Chuck Mangione a couple late 70s and early 80s along with a few others. Yeah I know, I could start playing since I'm not dead yet. Truth be told I need to get rid of the "What's the use", attitude and not worry about how good or bad I am. Time will tell.
I got to hang out with Ray and Joe Pass, back in the 70’s.
Ray was extremely nice and very generous, as he allowed me to play his bass…
My favorite Upright Bassist, Ray Brown 👌🏿❤️
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
Paul, I stole your licks, added 1 variation to each, now I have 10! Thanks, again!
I love playing that....learned it in High School.....
Thank You
👉 BROTHER 💪

Always great info 👏👍
You The Man 💪
Peace ✌️
Ray Brown, the ancestor! Thanks, Paul! I'm stealing your licks.
Ray Brown played with bounce and swagger. His notes and playing style is a happy feel.
You got the chops. Thanks for your hard work.
love this channel (and of course... mr Ray Brown!)!
Thank you very much for the great videos!

Great video! GW is a really fun tune to play over.

Perfect, sweet, lovely video. You're a great teacher, Paul!
It’s too tempting man, I have to steal at least one of your licks haha

Love your videos sir. I'm actually learning custard puff at the moment. I will most certainly ask my teacher to learn this one right after!
Sweet 🍇

Do it, just for the fun of it!
Cheering you on!👍🏽
My dream has been to play with a double bass player.
My son's "teddy" bear's name is "Ray Brown Bear".
Who is the maker of your bass
Pollmann
