Bought a 15 about 3 months ago. You're right about the SS prop. They wear better in shallow stuff where you might hit rocks and that sort of thing, but get something between the prop and the lower unit and it's the lower unit you'll be replacing. I switched to a 4 blade Spitfire aluminum. It actually gives me another 1000 RPM and an additional 4 MPH over the SS Trophy Sport.
Just bought the 15CC, probably take delivery late tomorrow or early next day..... Excellent mod ideas, thanks! Have way more rods than will fit on boat and they're in a storage garage with a loft..... "J" hooks perfect for storing/protecting 'em mounted to loft floor joists..... Walked into local Tracker dealer with intention of getting jon boat (Grizzley 17' w/40hp).... Saw the 15 skiff and fell in love ...lol.... A few grand more, but wayyyy better boat for me.... Am 77, so this'll probably be last boat...Downsizing from Beachcat 23......Should get me up to my 90th ....Perfect for fishing, diving with hookah rig and waterfront tiki bar hopping on Boatdrinksasota Bay..... ;o) [note: Dealer less than 3 blocks from my digs..... Handy]
Scott, what you see in the video is all I've done so far. Next project is changing out the junk axle and springs for a 3500 lb. galvanized axle and springs.
Armando Sampedro: Live close by in Gilchrist myself. Seriously looking at 15' skiff. What top end speed is attainable with the 40 or 60 Merc.? And roughly what distance or hours do you get with the 30 gallon tank. Thanks in advance.
looks ike you replaced the trailer roll with some vertical bunk .. do you have more information on how you did that and did you fabricate that yourself or bought somewhere (can you share the link to that)?
Is that the 54" shaft model or 60"? Is there plenty of play in the length so it stays submerged with wave action? Trying to be careful on the wording here.🤣
It's a Minn-Kota Edge model 1355935 with a 45" shaft. As of yet I haven't had a pop out so my shaft seems to be long enough. Like you, choosing my wording carefully.
Clay, all you need is a jigsaw, the deck on my 2021 boat is 1" thick. There are 2 layers of foam with glass on top and bottom with another layer between the foam. The deck plates came from Amazon. T-H Marine DPS-6-1-DP Sure-Seal Screw Out Deck Plate - Black, 6"
@@gwilli9511 Thanks man, we've had our 15 for a month now, been out every weekend. Enjoying the boat, but that gas tank is a booger. I'll be installing a port soon.
@@cmh2496 do you have an opinion yet about the fuel demand valve that's between the motor and gas tank? You know the tanks have been known to swell so much they've popped the rear deck up? If you have an issue with that let me know cause I have a solution.
I've always kept every boat I've owned in the garage, the FL sun will destroy or fade anything you leave outside. And.......squirrels or coons can get in there and chew wiring or just tear stuff up. The Vette and the boat are garage kept and the vehicles sit outside. I had a 19' Carolina Skiff when we built this house and had the garage built to house it without a swing-away trailer tongue. Now that I have the MPS-15 it sits in there perfectly with room all around it.
Nice job with the add ons. Your ready
Thanks Bud, now if it would only stop storming every day I'd get to use the boat!

You're right Tom, I noticed the increased speed and RPM's too. Mine really screams across a slight chop now.
What motor are you guys running, 40 0r 60? My skiff has a 40, would that Alum 4 blade prop work for the 40?
@@happyspearo4334 I'd try it. Mine is a 60HP.

I'm 70 and downsized to what will be my last boat too. This 15 is really easy to handle at the ramp by myself.
Ive had my 2014 pro 16 skiff for a year now and love it. I would love to exchange ideas. Let me know.

My apologies, I should look at my channel regularly. I have the 60 and with just me in the boat and properly trimmed, my gps shows 33mph.

It's just a pair of 24" 2 x 4's that I covered with bunk carpet.
Great video and ideas. What length did you make the bow stops? Thx!
24"

What shaft length and thrust did you install on your trolling motor?
I bought the 45"
What did you use to cut the holes for the fuel ports? Can you provide a link for the lids?

How long is Mako 15 skiff from Propeller to front end of trailer Hitch
From the tip of the coupler to the back of the engine cowling, mine is 20' 6". The cowling is farther out than the prop.
I see that you are keeping boat in garage
