If the purpose of the challenge is to put together an awesome looking steam era reefer train and run it on an awesome looking railroad, then you have succeeded impressively! Great video Mike, thanks Robin!
Very nice train. Believe it or not, you actually met another challenge I posted a couple weeks back and that was running a unit train of any type. Thanks for sharing! - Jason
Mike, It's been a great start to the week. The couch, Super Bowl and then the Reefer Challenge put the iceing on top of the cake. It does'nt get much better. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Kia ora Mike, many thanks for posting. Love to watch trains running on your layout especially when a storm brewing :). Trust you and your family keeping safe in these crazy times. Love your work. Nga mihi nui, James
You mentioned getting a "set" of refer's. I counted 16, did you purchase all as a set? Nice scenery on the layout too. Is this a part of your layout i have not noticed in your videos or updates? I don't have an N Scale steam locomotive but you just reminded me I need some!
Well done! As you said you are very close to completion. Now you have a beautiful video of all your scenes, well composed, great photography and sound. Just add the new scene that is underway and you will have one to tuck away and be very proud of. (I am quite partial to steam.)
I've been watching your videos for a while now Mike, and enjoy them greatly (even went back and watched most of the old ones). I've learned a lot from you. I was really happy to see you participate in a challenge and with a very nice train on your wonderful layout. The challenges (and people doing them) have motivated me to work on my layout and run trains more to do the challenges. If you don't want to do more of them, that's totally fine, of course. However if you did do more, I know a lot of folks would enjoy them.
Excellent video Mike and as usual displays the layout flawlessly. BTW, that Mike seems to run real well and sounds good too. It's getting more broken in? ? ? One question: what will the club guys think of Mike with a steamer? Oh what the heck, it is cool. I need to get my Big Boy out to play. C
Mike, as always your layout is amazing, great answer to the challenge. The challenges are getting a lot of people more involved with their layouts and more attention to everyone's channels. Its been a lot of fun watching everyone's layouts and involvement. So thanks for this post.
Awesomish there Unkeee Mike i set up a challenge of Pushing Cars because you don't see it much And the 30 Car pull for Uncle Wilmer that made my 70Ace MoPac 1982 Grab another Gear ⚙ she pulled it but her wheels where slipping a bit but this was A Unique challenge with a Steam Engine listening to Engine as she was pulling the Grade was Awesome makes me wanna Enginge like that Mike I've been watching on RFD channel the Heron Video's allot with Steam footage its neet to see the Double heading of the Steamers and watching a Big Diesel like A switcher help Steamer pull the Load i thought what we see today with the Mid Train DPU'S are Unique what they did in the olden Days those where some cool times & cool moments to watch..
Hey, Mike, I bought a N Scale layout several years ago and have been trying to get it to run. The track is all glued down but I keep having rail cars jumping off the track. I finally looked closer and noticed there seems to be a height difference in the rails. So my question is it best to solder the track together and file it both on top and on the inside of the rails to get the correct height or tear out the track and replace it with the correct height track?
I was like I can do that too, I have a 18-21 57' mechanical refrigerators that are part of my PFE train that I operate on my layout, but at the moment it sits behind a trio of SP F units ABA. Problem is I do not run steam. Like you, not sure about the what for and why with the challenge thing?. I would just rather watch a person participate in a good operation event with good audio. The down on the track views are just not my thing,
Mike you could complete my challenge simply by handing Robin the throttle and having her startup the train. Looking forward to seeing your video. #passthethrottle

Didn’t know you had a steamer in your fleet. I see it’s the BLI Mikado. Love that engine, by far my favorite in my collection.
It would likely surprise you I have 5 steamers but they seldom see any use.
Mike
Nice

Very good meeting of that challenge. I can't really do the challenge because I am rebuilding my layout
