It was said in the lore that he tried to escape with the help of the prototype using that same grabpack. There was a malfunction which caused him to get electrocuted(?) and was helped by the prototype but the only way to let him live was get transformed with the BBI(Big Bodies Initiative). Him getting comforted by the prototype makes so much sense because it prolly felt sorry for him.

Remember, Chapter 3 specifically says Catnap treats him "like a God", and it makes the line "All due to the path that we trod" make a lot more sense, because the Prototype orchestrated and coordinated the Hour of Joy, and they did "trod that path", so to say. Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure this takes place before the games, so it could be canon. After all, all the Toys seem friendly with each other. This seems to be soon after the Hour of Joy, because not only is power in more of the factory, but the Toys are acting like the freedom is new to them. Not to mention they're all together, which is important considering they've all broken into factions by the time of the games. There's Mommy's faction, which we know is seperate from the Prototypes faction because she doesnt want to be a part of him. I think the line "from the fraud of a God" wasn't referring to Elliot Ludwig, it was referring to the Prototype. Remember, Chapter 3 specifically says Catnap treats him "like a God", and it makes the line "All due to the path that we trod" make a lot more sense, because the Prototype orchestrated and coordinated the Hour of Joy, and they did "trod that path", so to say.
Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure this takes place before the games, so it could be canon. After all, all the Toys seem friendly with each other. This seems to be soon after the Hour of Joy, because not only is power in more of the factory, but the Toys are acting like the freedom is new to them. Not to mention they're all together, which is important considering they've all broken into factions by the time of the games. There's Mommy's faction, which we know is seperate from the Prototypes faction because she doesnt want to be a part of him. There's Poppy, Kissy and Ollie, and there's the Prototype and the Smiling Critters. But here, they're all together.

@@themiraclebox8519 That was the original idea, but I think things have shifted away from that. One of the main things in the Prototype tape in Chapter Three was showing us the many voices that the Prototype speaks through, which seems to point away from the idea that it's one person.

The song takes place before we enter and it has a lot of imagery displaying poppy’s capture, near the end of the song is when I suspect we finally enter the factory because Huggy walks away from the stand with his teeth showing, he doesn’t show his teeth unless he is hunting which could only mean we have entered the factory at that point.
