- GUYS 4.1M VIEWS ON THE PREVIOUS VIDEO wtf that’s crazy! here is the 2nd piece we performed with this incredible singer at the supermarket #piano #carmen #opera #pianovoix #pianogare #pianomonoprix #publicpiano #pianoengare #pianovoice #pianoduet #georgesbizet #bizetcarmen #habaneracarmen
Everybody there got the most beautiful gift of opera for absolutely nothing
As it should be to be honest. It shouldn't be exclusive to those who are wealthy
@@MrMyers758 That doesn't mean that people have to get it "for absolutely nothing". But it should be made affordable for people who are not that well-off.
Simply great. Let's honor that.
@@LoGStein Affordable is a matter of degree. Someone who can't afford to properly feed their family cannot afford ANY price for this luxury, and so it doesn't benefit those who are most in need of elation
@@MrMyers758 Yes okay, but the fact that people can't afford to properly feed their family is a problem in and of itself that should be solved anyway. And if it was solved, it would be fine that poorer families get access to cultural events at a substantial discount.
(and also thanks to the internet poorer people still have the opportunity to listen to Opera online, it's not the same, but it's certainly not nothing)
The Man has a lovely voice - but what I love more is seeing the spontaneous interplay between the two musicians - each reading the other for the expressiveness of the piece.
@Syd McCreath maybe, maybe not - but I've seen enough impromptu jam sessions (since I'm also a musician) to know what I'm looking at.
@Syd McCreath You went on a completely unrelated rant about animal abuse under a video about two musicians performing together
I don't think so
I totally agree, this is very good music performance BUT OMG this is so obvious a set up it made me cringe a little
unfortunately most of the videos of this type that he posts are fake. still cool though !
the power of music..connecting strangers completely..he's got amazing operatic voice...
1.4k likes no comments!? Imma change that 🙃
Wow, I just heard a man sing an aria written for a mezzo soprano.
I know! Wonderful!!!
You can just sing it in the octave you are more comfortable with.. of course, the man is also good at singing.
@@RAl2O3 Sure. I'm used to hearing Fredrica von Stade sing Cherubino. So it wouldn't surprise me to know that a countertenor sang a female role. But I'd never expect a baritone or a bass to sing an aria a mezzo performs during Carmen. I'm not criticizing the man for singing a mezzo aria. But it's strange to hear him do that when I'm a purist.
Since I'm a purist, I usually hate modernist operatic productions, including the Peter Sellers one where Don Giovanni "because" a cocaine addict standing on a Harlem sidewalk where he wore only his briefs.
Patricia Raceme sang superbly in Minghella's production of Madama Butterfly, I thought, But I disliked the minimalist sets and the costumes. But I love each second of the movie version of Butterfly with King Huang and Richard Trowel, partly because the sets were rLISTIC AND THE COSTUMES SEEMED JAPANESE.
If I produced an opera, my first question would be, "What would delight the composer and the librettist? What would they have wanted it to be like." Sincgers can honor composers with superb performances and maybe even a play roles more convincingly than anyone else has played them. But if I were Mozart attending Sellers's Don Giovanni, I'd feel at least disappointed.
@@rhosllwyd2863 He sang wonderfully. But the arias still sounded strange to me when he sang it, and wouldn't want any male singer to portray Carmen in Bizet's opera.
Everyone is amazed that a baritone is singing a mezzo aria. I’m amazed that he knew the words, so this is clearly something he has sung before or even frequently. Well done!
I love how they both know there's a slight tempo change coming up and telepathically bring both of themselves in and out of it back into the original tempo even tho they have both never met each other in their life.
You seriously Think this is not staged :D sweet, haha
@@elestra1504 r/nothingeverhappens
Not likely
@@wesleybuckwalter2558 if you had the slightest idea what they teach in music school you wouldn’t have said that
These tempo changes are 'classical', and you can see the piano player looking at the singer to sync
I didn't realize how universally applicable this song is until I heard it sung on it's own by a baritone.
It's still seeing a middle aged man maybe older singing an aria meant for a tempting gypsy girl basically flirting.
@@cerebrummaximus3762 I've never personally seen Carmen played by a woman younger than her thirties. And as a middle aged woman myself, I see nothing wrong with middle aged men singing flirtatious songs.🙂
@@professorlilith5933 Fair point. My emphasis was on "man", but "Old" too I guess. It just feels weird him playing the role of Carmen?
I thought so too at first, and then I started paying attention to the lyrics more than usual. Maybe that says more about my love life than the song itself.
@@professorlilith5933 I can relate to your comment, currently sadly single too haha! But to be fair, when you have an existing image of a character in your head, whether it is in a film, book or opera, it feels off when you see somebody completely different playing that role. That might just be my method of cope :/
I love how he asked for your permission to sing! He was so polite by not trying to steal your time ❤
Nah he shouldve jumped right in. Maximum surprise factor is best.
I love how you can see his breathing apparatus at work (the singer, I mean of course, haha). The chest is high when he is supporting and the gut is in when he is suspending his air, indicating that the abdominal muscles are at work. Really nice video!
It's called a diaphragm.
@Mellie Are you referring to the abdominal muscles or the gut? (Both of which are the same). The diaphragm is at work too but we don't actually have any control over it, due to it being an involuntary muscle. You have control over your intercostals and your abdominal (even the latter kind of work on their own of your setup is correct) and the diaphragm will suspend the air when you have proper control of both. You may already know this, so sorry if I'm preaching to the choir (no pun intended).
@@cristinaevans2318 a common misconception among musicians! Check any medical anatomy/physiology text. if the thoracic diaphragm were involuntary (like the heart or intestines), you could not control your breathing at all. There is a respiratory center of the brain that acts as an automatic pacemaker and can override conscious control, but the muscle itself is voluntary.
I've never heard opera singing in person for more than like 15 seconds, god how I'd love to see something like this in public
como se llama esta puta cancion joder
This man has an unexpectedly pleasant voice of Opera 👏 and you play the piano awesomely and goes well with the singer 👌 though that piano NEEDS to be tuned right by technician 😅
Not just tuned but voiced. The hammers are not of a consistent hardness.
Yes!
I sang this as my first full length solo when I was 12!! I have no clue why they picked it since it obviously wasn't age appropriate but I worked on it for a month, got a standing ovation and had a ton of fun!!
Music....can make any 2 strangers look like they've known each other for years
Watching the spontaneous reaction to fine art and wanting to play along is exactly what art in public places is for! I love this! So cool of you to share the spotlight with folks who see you out ❤
Absolutely beautiful 🤩 i seen this song many years ago when i was a kid watching the movie “unleashed by jet li/danny the dog” and the sound and melody always stuck in the back off my mind and i never knew what it was called until today.
Fabuleux!
Translation to English, with respect: "Fabulous! ❤ With talents like you in this supermarket, management really needs to do something about this piano!"
The piano is still in shock
They're both having such a grand time, you can see it on their faces 👏👏👏 bravo!
Awesome, just awesome. Thanks for sharing this beautiful performance ❤️
He has great control of his voice. Bravo to both of you.
That question at the end?
YES. Definitely more collaboration with that performer!
This man has something special about him besides singing wonderful and yess I would love to hear more from him ❤❤
Look at all those people captivated by something truly beautiful.
You never know who you'll meet at a supermarket.
One of my favorite opera movements.
It's not every day that you get to hear a *baritone* perform this.
Bravo!
More videos with the guy !! That was amazing!!!
That is a great bit of serendipity! Imagine how much better he’d be if he’d had time to warm up.
I was very sick with cancer and your videos and piano kept me going. Thanks. Wish u would come play in Puerto Rico so I could go see and hear you play. Many blessings. Keep doing such an amazing job.
What a beautiful moment. Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes, please. More collaborations like this.
How beautiful, both the singing and the piano. I'm in tears ❤
I would love hear hanabera with that voice on live. Till this day didn't found any better man's voices in that masterpiece.
One of my favourite opera pieces, and you were both awesome👏 Thank you for cheering me up today 😊
Habanera one of my favorite opera song from Carmen. Love it.
What a joy!!! You made my day!!! Thank you
Wow, people are so amazing. Talk about socks blown off with a hidden talent.
We all need a name! It re-awoke my childhood love of opera. I want his records! Please, please❤
Jacques-François Loiseleur-des-Longchamps
What a wonderful way to end Saturday night! I really must learn this also, as I’ve learnt to sing ‘La fleur que tu ma Avis jetais’ (The flower song) from Carmen!
Love that so many young ppl stopped for opera ❤
Qual nome da música?
Wonderful performance by both gentlemen!
Wowww indeed an excellent opera singer😊☝️👍👏👏👏
Watch at 0:20 lol. The smile that comes over his face when he realizes that the guy can actually sing the part is hilarious it has the "whew, this guy can actually sing so it's not gonna be terrible" vibe.
A wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing.
Just goes to prove that opera isn't just for snobs. Reminded me of the scene in Shawshank Redemption when all the prisoners listened to opera from the record player.
Music truly is the international language and breaks down barriers! ❤❤❤😃
I love the baritone. How beautiful!
Not often you see/hear the singer trying to accompany the pianist
Que lindo Opera Francesa. Primeira vez, que ouço.
Fantástico ❤❤❤❤❤❤
So sweet. ❤ And beautiful singer.
Man, this guy is good! A goodly amount of culture for my morning. Didn't even matter if I can't understand what was being sung. Beautiful, definitely more videos with him!
I swear, if I had a voice like that, I’d sing in public just for fun. It’s a true human superpower
What a wonderful voice! Thanks
Magnifique moment ! Merci
Wow,I had tears 😂in my eyes, that was wonderful 😅😊😊😊
Wonderful all around. Thank You.
To let you know how far humanity has fallen, everyone's first reaction is to take out their stupid phone and record it as if they will ever watch it again and they totally miss the opportunity to immerse themselves into the experience.
What excellently bouncy staccato notes. 😍😍😍 Mmm it's so satisfying - I love it.
I liked that random close-up on MatPat in the background toward the beginning.
Awww, that was so nice! This performance brought a wide smile on my face, somehow I felt myself instantly happy? Thank You for sharing!
¡Bravo! ¡Bellísimo!
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic!
Humans are amazing and beautiful creations, keep it up!
I love the joy in his smile while he is singing 💜
Perfect cadence of singer and pianist alike. I’m thrilled with the outcome!
This was great, but I'm going to be wondering why a baritone had an aria written for a mezzo memorized perfectly for weeks. 😅
It wouldn't be surprising if he had played one of the gentlemen's roles in "Carmen". You work on an opera production of any kind, and you're gonna be hearing and memorizing someone else's arias without even trying. 😁
Besides, what if he's also a music teacher? That would be another reason for his memorizing something written for the female voice.
Wait, I even heard this in Chinese and it's so famous that even my grandma who can't read knows the lyrics in Chinese. Music is universal, thanks for this public performance 🙏
That's talent! Simply remarkable! Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes the stars align and a chance encounter turns into something amazing. Bravo.
awesome video! you're rushing him though lol
That was fabulous..
BRAVO BRAVISSIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially for the spontaneity!!!!!!!
That guy’s got talent I mean he could really belt it out there
More of this collab please. The gentleman is a gem. Just popped up on my feed today. Thank you YT algorithmic logic. 😊
Wonderful encounter, they fit so good together. God bless You both!
The look on his face when he recognized the song, like “It’s my time to shine baby” 😂😂
This is going to my "Humanity Restored" playlist
I’ve always adored Carmen even though I’ve never seen it, and I always found it ironic that it’s written in French but takes place in Spain.
The best Spanish music is by French composers. LOL. Impossible to beat Bizet's Carmen and then you have Ravel's Pavane pour une Infante Defunte and Bolero.
The guy opened his mouth and though his vocals were nice and mellow, they hit my ears like a sonic boom
Well done both very well done brought a bit of joy to the day
I always assumed that, if they started singing without 45 minutes warm-up, their voice box would explode and they’d never sing again.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful, what a delight!
Tellement de Magies.... Merci merci merci ❤❤❤
Lovely spontaneous moment.
Great playing and the singer has a beautiful voice! Bravo
:) so nice when random people can actually connect.
When the final boss suddenly starts a boss fight
Imagine walking by this ... and not stopping.
Merci à vous deux.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.
Yes, what a blessing!
That was incredible. Thank you
Wow, absolute wonderful! Thank you for the sharing this with us
No reason at all to do this, but for sheer joy. Beautiful music, but such a beautiful interaction between musicians.
I liked it very much! In my country, many people would find this ridiculous and would laugh!
Bravo! Besutiful classic music!
