Bernard Edwards blew up the stage with that super galactic performance, definitely one if the best bassist ever! It's just stunning what he does in one of earliest Chic track releases, raising the bar so high, what a legend.
Maybe it's not because they don't like the song, but the videoclip. Well, I hope the reason is that. Respect to me, I think, I feel this song, it's solid gold! ♥ Luv it.
The ever cool and smooth Bernard Edwards on base!!!🔥🔥🔥 Nile Rogers clean as usual in suit🔥🔥🔥 Chic the hit machine! Edwards and Rogers are music geniuses!
I was a disco DJ in 77-78. Didn't like most of their popular disco songs, but this song and Everybody Dance are number 3 and number 5 in my top 10 disco songs of all time. For what it's worth.
I just love the effortless melodic syncopated harmony runs that Bernard Edwards pays in this. I’m sure it has been said before but it sounds like the genius of James Jamerson taken to the next level.
Quincy Jones had Michael Jackson. Nile Rodgers had Madonna, David Bowie, Diana Ross, INXS, Sister Sledge, Duran Duran, Chic, Daft Punk, Coming 2 America soundtrack and countless others. His body of work is huge ...
Oh wow ..what a funky groove on the drums, guitar and the coolest bass riffing ever ....Bernard Edwards bass style his own unique concept just like Sly Stones thumb thumping bassist came up with his slapping technique...Bernard improves on that with his more difficult string "pinching" technique...technically amazing bass playing...
Chic was a band that could get you out of a depressed state by just putting their music on and getting involved. of all their great songs this is my favorite. THEY SHOULD BE IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. They have been on the ballot 11 times, wake up Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I know this comments late, but for me I would put Chic, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Donna Summer as the big three of the disco era, but there were plenty more.
Started to learn bass because of this song and wanted to learn this as quickly as possible oh boy was it a mistake. Can’t rap my head around how you can play so precisely and so fast Bernard is just a genius and it makes so much fun to watch the master at work. Currently i try my best to use all fingers while playing hope one day i can nail this.
All of this time I thought that Luci Martin was the lead singer for this song, I had no idea that it was my favorite Norma Jean with those beautiful dimples you go girl!!!
the bass line is incredible! Like always with Bernard
Bernard Edwards, Nile Rodgers & Tony Thompson. Absolutely brilliant trio of musicians
The Best. One of the first cross over concept in USA
Bernard makes that bass lick look so effortless! Pure talent right there
Exactly
And dam near impossible to play....
Nile Rogers + Bernard Edwards = funk genius.
Is that nile with the glasses on
@@vickyhyde8173 bernard is the bassist, nile is the guitarist
RIP Bernard and Tony
Just musical geniuses in general! They produced SO many artists.
I numeri uno -ITALY-
The bass and percussion in this song are phenomenal... Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson were both musical geniuses.
May they both RIP
But NIle Rodgers, the guitar player on the left, is the Top genius
I still say that this is arguably the greatest trio ever assembled. Just look at their music after Chic. Just great musicians.
So agree, and I'm from the Cream/Zep world.
This is my favorite Chic song. I love Norma Jean's vocals.
This song is too tight. Has everything. One of my favs by this group
There's so much to admire but yes her part is amazing.
Her voice is so beautiful!
Bernard Edwards blew up the stage with that super galactic performance, definitely one if the best bassist ever! It's just stunning what he does in one of earliest Chic track releases, raising the bar so high, what a legend.
My absolute favorite bassline ever.
Toppop shows the best of the70's. The best TV show in continental europe by far. Chic signed a new era for contemporary music
Remembering Bassist Bernard Edward
(October 31, 1952 - April 18, 1996)

Bernard slayed the bass
What always got me is how effortless Bernard Edwards made it look while he played.
Bernard !! BASS GOD !! Appreciation from Italy from day 0 !!!
this is hands down one of the very best songs ever created in history.
right on +battlecat
Maybe it's not because they don't like the song, but the videoclip. Well, I hope the reason is that.
Respect to me, I think, I feel this song, it's solid gold! ♥ Luv it.
True, one of the very best songs ever created in history, and possibly the most underrated to boot!
my god 😊😊😊
AGREED
Bernard always kills the bass , he didn't change his bass strings and still had a killer sound .
RIP BERNARD FOREVER
RIP Bernard and Tony Thompson.😢
How many good memories! Pleasant, nice song 😃❤
Great song. Hard to believe it only got to #38 on the Billboard Hot 100 (especially after their previous single (Dance, dance, dance) got to #6.)
On the pop charts. On the R&B charts it made it to 13, which is still quite low in my opinion. In NYC, Chic’s hometown, it was a huge hit!
Dance Dance Dance was more crossover disco as this was funk urban disco.
Bernard Edwards, this guy is amazing!
from minute 2:59 to minute 3,27 ...THANKS BERNARD*....everywhere you are!!!
No one can reapeat the chucking technique of him. Bernard! You are great! Rest in peace big brother!
The ever cool and smooth Bernard Edwards on base!!!🔥🔥🔥 Nile Rogers clean as usual in suit🔥🔥🔥
Chic the hit machine! Edwards and Rogers are music geniuses!
Simply outstanding Bass playing
My man Bernard!!! Whenever I watch Chic my focus is ALWAYS on his fingers dancing on the fingerboard.
Mine too. He was a beast!
Missing you the 80s. From Rio, Brazil
I was a disco DJ in 77-78. Didn't like most of their popular disco songs, but this song and Everybody Dance are number 3 and number 5 in my top 10 disco songs of all time. For what it's worth.
Sound of the 70s. Unsurpassed.
Got my vote, 1970s music greatest ever
Ms Norma Jean Wright on vocals!!
Norma reminds me of a young Chaka when she was in Rufus
@@casey4602 got chaka vibe too
One of the best songs I’ve ever heard ….magical !!!!
I just love the effortless melodic syncopated harmony runs that Bernard Edwards pays in this. I’m sure it has been said before but it sounds like the genius of James Jamerson taken to the next level.
Maaaaaaaaaan, in tears, this is as real as gets!
This song puts a smile on my face I love Chic an I miss Bernard 🇺🇸
CHIC + ABBA + Trammps+ Bee Gees = Disco Party
Bernard Edwards was an absolute madman on that bass.
Quincy Jones had Michael Jackson. Nile Rodgers had Madonna, David Bowie, Diana Ross, INXS, Sister Sledge, Duran Duran, Chic, Daft Punk, Coming 2 America soundtrack and countless others. His body of work is huge ...
simple and to the point but beyond brilliant in its composition "Everybody dance, clap your hands" Look at us!
Thanks Bernard edwards ❤️🙏
An absolute classic. Spotless vocals and music. What a fantastic song!
Nile, você é fera! Mas, desculpe, o Chic, sem o Bernard, não dá! Ele é super fera!
Edwards is incredible here using his thumb and pinky like a plectrum. What a great bassplayer. OK, the rest of the band isn’t bad either❤
Reminds me of the Plato's retreat scene in Summer of Sam
Tony Thompson batteria, Bernard Edward chitarra, Nile Rogers basso e Norma voce...☝️
No, ti sbagliavi! Il diritto è: chitarra, Nile Rogers; basso, Bernard Edwards!
RIP Bernard and Tony
❤🙏
Best of Bernard Edwards

'Nard knew he was a badass on bass. I only wish he knew how influential he was on this track here. Thanks to Nile for giving him this.
大好きな歌なので聴けてよかったです!ありがとうございます
Bernie Edwards was one of the most underrated bassist of all time. I’m sad.
But for the ones who really know abt playing bass he'll be always on the top for sure.
Really? He was and will be an influence on young bass players🎸
Lie!
RIP Mr.magic bass, your sound pure amazing

literally the best song ever
Even a good bassist would have to play that over and over, to get in down. Brilliant!
Fantastic tune!
bernard edwards was brilliant
1979,melhor ano da minha vida de jovem. A qualidade musical não deixa dúvidas.
they captured the : "Essence of Era Disco Music until today ,it is not certain if it would exist ,without CHIC" !
I know this comments late, but for me I would put Chic, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Donna Summer as the big three of the disco era, but there were plenty more.
