It’s a shame that Pokémon go is the only playable game in the space. Would be nice if they got some competition so they’d actually have to listen and fix stuff.

i have been playing Orna recently its also GPS-based, its way more grindy than pokemon go since its a MMO RPG. but the devs actually care about the player base, and for a small indie game it has a lot to offer. you should give it a shot

I believe in the saying "In chaos there is opportunity". Right now, while Niantic has created chaos, it's a prime time for developers of location based games to create a new game or even implement features that Niantic refuses to do in their platforms. We need more games to fill this space. Perhaps some healthy competition might be good too.

Minecraft Earth had some great potential. It just had the misfortune of launching just as COVID began. They had implemented a lot of awesome features such as collecting items to build in an AR space that could be upscaled to life-size blocks and buildings, adventures in parks where you could battle zombies and skeletons in dungeons, and the collectibles were amazing, they had sooooooo many variants of common Minecraft mobs. It was fun while it lasted.
Pikmin Bloom is the only game I play that uses the same system as Pokemon Go. It's fun, though not nearly as complicated as PoGo which is fine. The little Pikmins have different costumes which are absolutely adorable and you can plant and grow flowers as you walk.

I've come across another GPS-based game. Its called Orna, its an MMO RPG. The game has a super passionate developer team and a really cool community. I think you should give it a shot!

Yes. Orna is a great game. It actually rewards you for going away from city limits. I went for a hike a couple of years back, turned on the game, and it had amazing stuff in the woods to find.
I want to play it more but I feel kinda lost with some of the features and mechanics.
Zombies, run is a great game that captures the aspects of pokemon go better than pokemon go. It's an exercise/fitness game where you listen to a Podcast about a group of survivors and occasionally have to run from zombies. You collect supplies goods medical stuff along the way to bring back to your camp, And if you don't run fast enough you get eaten by zombies

The game I need is an AR dungeon crawler type of game. I'd totally be in on crushing monsters all around my city, finding chests, and upgrading weapons and armor.
In all the years since PoGo's release i know of only 1 good alternative, Jurassic World Alive. With its much higher focus on pvp it can become a bit pay to win. But if you're only interested in collecting cool dino's or hybrids then you never actually have to spend any money. It also doesn't have dumb limitations on stuff like storage space or raids. It actually focusses a lot more on community with alliances. Most use a discord to coordinate everything but its still way more community focused then i ever felt with PoGo. Events are weekly with a lot more variation i would say then the monthly samey stuff that a lot of moments in a season can feel like. One of the things i trully like about it, is that it pretty much kept all the Covid related changes and the game has evolved with those in mind, it's a better experience nowadays then it used to be (the game is also 5 years old at this point). Its even going to release its 3.0 version this week with a whole new mechanic thats going to be usable for the whole of the playerbase. I have played both games on and off for years but now i've made the jump permanently and i would say the chance of me returning to PoGo is slim to none.

When I checked the time stamps and one of them said “dinosaur go” I thought it was Jurassic world alive ( it wasn’t for anyone who’s wondering) probably the only other good game similar to Pokémon go you should play it it’s actually pretty fun

In a way, yeah it is one of a kind and is unique. And it does have some good in it. But as a former player looking back in, I'm seeing just how broken it actually is. Pvp is broken and laggy. Events aren't as exciting as they once we're. Box prices are high for the content. Raids, especially remote raids are broken. The Niantic bosses disrespecting and insulting the community and players. Several players sending death threats to Niantic employees and harrasing their families, even though the employees are only doing what the bosses want and the families not being involved. Also the bosses ignoring the community as a whole.

There's Jurassic World Alive, you could have tried that as a Dino inspired pokemon go. Got decent graphics and the feeding of the dinos are quite realistic - its not fruits or whatnot, you're feeding dinos live animals. Or at least live in the game.

I'd really love to see you try playing Zelda games, like Breath of the Wild, & the latest installment, Tears of the Kingdom. Who knows, it could be a great new replacement for Pokémon Go, since Niantic is in a downward spiral right now.

@ witcher monser slayer is already closed. And it is so sad. Witcher Monster Slayer was perfect as AR game - there were a lot of "fairy tale" high quality monsters - AR personages - that we were using for playing our own stories and tales for our kids. There were no PVP, but it was perfect as free AR models lybrary (and also in storytaling, but there were very few "quests-stories"). ANd you know what? Theater is best game in the world. But somehow stupid managers had decided to compete a pokemon go in grinding.. Pokemon go is not for kids and it is not for pair "parents+kids", even if some kids had installed it they do not know anyone true fact about the game. Pokemon go is either not an AR game - nobody uses AR here (and also very little read pokemon LOR which is so borring). Pokemon go is only "geolocation game". Whitcher Monster Slayer was true AR game.

One of the neighborhood kids stopped playing PoGo and switched to Jurassic World Alive. It looks to be AR, GPS based and the graphics and gameplay look really decent. Dinos aren't my thing so I'd rather play Pokemon Scarlet Violet than that.

Honestly the Mewtu Raids were awesome and I saw many more players than im the last couple of years. Maybe the in person raiding is working out.
Lol, my large city was a ghost-town. No one came out for this (the park was packed on Kleavor day). Not many Mewtwo raids spawning, and long drive distances in between. So much for "exercise", this was a drive-around-and-raid event.
Where did you find these games...try something good like Orna if you plan to give up on PoGo
