Richard, thank you so much for all you're doing! I'm trying to figure out how to come to a course or apply for an internship asap. Wondering a few things... 1) What is the approximate size of your egg mobiles, 2) how many hens do you keep in each one, and 3) about how much land does it take for you to pasture those hens effectively for a season? Again thanks for all your time and efforts! It brings courage to those of us that have a great desire but are hesitant with lots of questions.
I understood that from watching the video, I am talking about the day to day when he lets them out to pasture do they go back to the pen on their own accord.
They start to go in as dark falls, but many will just settle under the egg-mobile. We put those birds in for the first few days to get them into good habits
We grow a lot of crops. Growing crops can yield high returns per m2, but is very labour intensive compared to our animal enterprises. Growing vegetables is far less sustainable than pastured livestock, a common misunderstanding in the PC space. Obviously when growing a business, the local market situation is vital to contextualise production, and we couldn't easily sell more crops than we do, being so remote and desiring to sell within 50km radius. See older videos where I break down finances and people hours...

Where do you buy the birds?
Other than grass do you feed them anything else
Do the birds go back to the pen at night on their own?
Irondog Allen most birds go to roost at dusk usually high as possible, he is leaving them in the egg mobile to imprint them to there home.

They'll go back inside at night on their own, yes.

FOX are there I bet too.
With such a focus on permaculture, I'm surprised you aren't growing more crops vs animals, greatly increasing your yields and profits.
