My first car was a Black 1988 944S, it was such an awesome car. Glad to see you reviving one of these! Wish Porsche made another line of cars like the 914/944!
@@Bbeavistotally, great to work on, handles like nothing else, burns oil like nothing else, and make girls think that you might be just bad enough to date while still inviting you to dinner with the parents.
Ive been hanging out for an update video - thanks for your efforts. I passed up a 944 some years when their values were poor so I bought an MX5 instead! I'm kicking myself that I missed out on Porsche ownership so I'll live my car owning dreams via your channel.
Thank you David. Although this car is perhaps a little more costly than a used MX-5, it was certainly priced to be attainable by most average people. And I'm hardly outside of average :-P
Thanks Beavis for sharing. I have a 944/1984 auto which hasn't been driving in 3 years. I have owned for 10 years and it really hasn't missed a beat the than your typical wear and tear for a 40 year old car. All of a sudden the 944 has started to blow excessive e white smoke which is new and concerning. No dash lights are showing issues. No oil in the coolant, I added fuel injector cleaner in the petrol and no smoke into the oil as recommended. When starting there is no smoke of note and hone after 5 minutes the smoke builds up. There is no smoke in the engine bay and no overheating. Any thoughts why?
This is my first and only 944, so I too am learning as I go. I'm not privvy enough to give you advice on your issue sorry. Hopefully some others may have some tips for you and can comment here.
Well done!!!!!! The wiring harnesses for the early cars might still be cheap from Porsche, you’d save yourself a ton of headache just starting with fresh factory wiring! Always a good backup if the wiring in it is buggered. Excellent work, can’t wait to see it on its first drive! Huge milestone!
The harness in this car is complete, it's just a bit of a mess in the interior in so far as its been unwrapped.... not too much to fix, just needs a tidy up. Thanks, glad to share this with you - more updates coming soon on the car - I've been busy getting it sorted :-)
I have one of these, but the emission control valve isn't connect I I can't find were to connect it to also it made the same type of engin voice when it wasn't starting properly can I dm you for help
Well done! Its taken me 3 months to identify my AFM is the cause for my over fueling / running rich problem. Now to source the part........ 😩 Using this as motivation.
So cool seeing something rather rare being brought back to its former glory. I'm assuming you're in Melbourne? I need to take my LTD to whoever did this car's roadworthy 🤔
I think the bigger mystery is getting a rwc for a non runner and then getting issued with 7 year old club plates.. lol. Just messing with you. Well done. I can only imagine how long that took you to diagnose and sort out in real time. The condensed post first start version on video was probably a good move. Great work!!!!!
Sharp eyes sir - perhaps I threw the plates from my former club permit'd MX-5 on this car just so it feels more 'real' in the garage.... still yet to drive the car on the street. I spends lots of hours on the car, and researching/googling on my PC to learn how the car works - so indeed, I do try to condense that down to something that's interesting - I don't want to bore you with hours of me pottering around a car. I hope you find the vid is enjoyable from start to finish.
@@Bbeavis I presumed as much from seeing the plate. I would have done the same thing. I'm so happy that you got it running when others have failed. They are a great car with a timeless shape. My mate's turbo was a brilliant track day car. Boy have they skyrocketed in price since he sold it 15 years ago.

Wow, such a cool first car!
It's great fun to learn the nuances of the 944, it is relatively simple once you start to pull it all apart...

Hah, I love this anecdote.
This man does not know what frustration is
I have two kids. I am well versed in frustration.
Congratulations my friend
Thank you very much!
I saw some magical tingles! At least you know the engine management inside out now. Well done Brendan.
Thank you Don.

omg it's got TO3 transistors in the ecu😀i'm happy to look over the old ecu internals if you like and see if anything obvious is toast
Really shows the age of the components doesn't it! Thanks for the offer, could you shoot me an email - it's in my channel description?

Contact John at just joshin 944 in Maryland!! Tell him I said hi 😊😊😊😊😊
Pretty sure we didn’t get the whole Brenden Happy Dance on video when that sucker kicked into life! Good news and a promising series!

Thanks mate. Yeah I am in Melbourne. This car hasn't been on the road for 15yrs or more so. Likely it hasn't had a roady in that time.

Congrats (officially)!
Thanks man, been doing a lot more since I filmed the footage in this video so the car's making good progress, but still not quite registered yet.
Time to think about a K24 swap!😊
Haha, not on this budget!!
Oh what a feeling!
Huge relief to know it's 'mostly' coming together!
1:54 I know the good medicine when something is big and heavy...
Someones calls this 13B, someones spinnig Doritos... :D
So many people talk about engine swapped 944's.... but surprised not more people have said LS V8.
This was a great video. Congrats.
All the best
