I grew up on two things, Xbox and berserk. Ever since the animated show came out in 1997. I have had a brand of sacrifice tattoo for years. And as I have watched Death Battle for many years, Death Battle is very inconsistent with the scaling of anything. According to them, Cloud can move faster than light and Samus can blow up planets. If they went by the original rules of no respawning, no external forces, and no breaking canon, Guts has a chance. Just not a good one. But then it wouldn’t be a Guts fight if that wasn’t the case right?

It is in character for Kratos, except Kratos does not use contractions. The only contraction he has ever used is when he believed Atreus was seriously hurt by Baldur.
I could see Kratos being very surprised at first to know Guts is 100% human. But then he would just be impressed, cause he likes the idea of a human capable of bodying gods by their own ability, even with help from cursed armour.
Kratos: Anger and vengeance will only get you so far before it corrupts you. I hope our battle has helped you understand that. Guts: Yes, I understand perfectly now. Thank you Ghost of Sparta for showing me the light.
If this is new Kratos I would love to see his interactions with Guts since he should know what Guts would be currently feeling and I could only imagine his reaction to the Berserker Armor

Tragedy can define some souls in a way they can never truly escape and these two characters are exemplars of that, this track captures that rather well.
This fight will either be brutal and barbaric, tragic and melencholy, or both, and I'm happy with all three. Damn, the connections are obvious but I never thought of this until now. Still, this would be awesome and terrifying to see them at full potential.
While a stomp, it has connections. Dynamic wise, not sure how well they’ll play off each other. Thanos and RF prove stomps can be fun with the right writing
Wow, that is a cool track art! Like that the track focuses more on the characters' tragic pasts and being the reason why they fight as well. Also, holy s**t Guts is screwed.
I like the start of this track. It's basically sad & simple (reflecting their lives pretty well), & then it leads into the "harder" side of music (a.k.a. the rest if their lives). Overall, this is a nice track that definitely shows two ghosts struggling with their misery
How many is that for Guts now, 3 tracks not counting both versions of Awakened Sacrifice ? He’s pretty high up in the ranks now. And what a wonderful track to make the top rankings that is. Also *DAMN* that track art and title font are some of the best *EVER.* Honestly the first one since I lost my PC that I fully regret not having it to review because I’ll have to cut that review short despite having so much that I could say on it. Seriously, it’s absolutely amazing. It has calmer moments to reflect the tragic background of the characters along with Old Man Kratos’ new personality but even in those calm moments it holds so much power with heavy percussions to showcase the sheer wrath and anguish those two characters hold, for better or for worst. But then there’s the heavier moments that hit like a freaking *truck* with how strong they are. Sure they still hold a clear sadness and tragedy in them, yes, but it’s also backed up by a titanic amount of power which describes those characters perfectly not to mention it fits their series OSTs well too as we get a main melody similar to what you’d hear in a Berserk track but played with instruments fitting of a God of War game to make a perfect mix. This whole track feels like a sort of antithesis to Awakened Sacrifice in a way. While the aforementioned was about the two characters understanding the pain of the other even if they must kill one another, this one feels like it’d start with the two respecting one another with a perfectly calm start, perhaps even starting the fight against their wishes, but that it’d end in an absolute bloodbath where both characters would unleash absolutely everything they have to rip the other apart. To me this is well represented in the ending via the chanting which can be interpreted in multiple ways. Either you can interpret it as chantings to represent the godly powers at play in the end of the fight or, more interestingly, as a sort of « breaking point » where the characters are fully letting go, unleashing all their rage which is represented in those « voices » which were previously caged and are finally being let out into the fight as neither character is holding back to their morality anymore, something that especially fits Kratos in this case. This whole ending is just the cherry on top of an absolutely wonderful song. Hell, even the post-climax is great as we get another peaceful segment befitting of the characters too as, no matter who won, they’d likely make peace with the person they killed, respecting the fallen warrior (even more so given that Kratos is the likely winner of the fight and that’s definitely something he’d do.) Overall this track is not something I expected to happen in a thousand years but I’m really glad it became a thing because this song is absolutely amazing. It’s not just a great listen but it’s filled to the brim with details that fit both characters perfectly to the point where I once again had to cut it short else my phone spontaneously combust from the length of this comment. Id’ say that I wonder if this track is getting vocals but honestly I don’t see how you’d be able to improve on it given how perfect the use of the chants is in this. Absolutely grandiose work with this.

I mean, you'd be surprised. There's been plenty of moments in Berserk where Guts was getting his ass absolutely handed to him, but then he spots and executes spur-of-the-moment counterattacks at precise moments to turn the tide of the fight. Biggest example was when Mozgus' angels had him bound and were smashing him with a giant wheel, but then at one point he went "fuck it, I'll use this to my advantage" by firing off a cannon shot at the same time he gets hit (killing the angel who just smashed him) and uses the velocity to launch himself at another one to chop it in half. Or later on after that, he was getting absolutely pounded by Mozgus, but then decides to pretend like he's out of energy by weakly punching him before falling over, only for it to reveal that he deliberately placed high powered bombs into a weak spot in the guy's chest. Basically, Kratos better be sure that he finishes the fight fast and quick, or Guts might pull a fast and clever move at some point that could cripple him in an instant. Basically being far more of a clever fighter than a purely brute force one, unlike Kratos.
@@aceg.rookie Yea, the way they worded it definitely wasn't a great explanation, but it's still possible to point at situations within the manga and go "this is where the overpowered guy got too cocky and fucked up" in the fights. So I think their main point was that Guts just has a tendency to exploit overconfidence/weaknesses rather than just being strong.
It has been a while that a track was able to ring out so much emotion... both have faced hell and heaven... both maimed by it... both calm damaged souls... you need more people to appreciate your craft brandon... 👍

There are two ways this can be interpreted depending on which Kratos is being used. Young Kratos: Kratos (with the Blade of Olympus) and Guts (in Berserker Armor) are angry and are slashing each other over and over, screaming in anger while doing so with them shrugging over any blow that the other is doing until Guts falls to the ground, dead. Old Kratos: Kratos activates Spartan Rage as he faces Guts in his Berserker Armor, with them attacking each other and shrugging off the other's blows until Guts falls to the ground, dead.
This would be a good match up. Both have equal amounts of strenghts and similarities to where it could come real close. Also this track is amazing as always Brandon! Keep up the amazing work.
Kratos stomps. He's easily stronger, has a more varied arsenal depending on which version is being used (Greek or Norse), he can likely steal or *destroy* Dragonslayer, plus some of his enchantments from the Norse saga give him an ability akin to Bayonetta's Witch Time. He could easily get around the Berserker Armor's "protections" by simply bisecting or decapitating Guts, either of which he could easily do.
In the case of a Death Battle gotta give this one to Kratos. While both have arms and armor that can do serious damage, one of them has more fighting experience and speed......and that's Kratos.
A death battle I've would love to see and don't get me wrong I'd enjoyed the death battle between guts vs Dimitri it was entertaining fight but in my personal opinion Kratos vs guts would've been a better matchup it would have been epic and how cool it would be if there was a berserk game with God of war mechanics.

Completely random suggestion that I'm literally just commenting before I forget: dorn il khan ( baldurs gate) Vs sten ( dragon age origins). 2 humanoid, tall, dark, brutally honest optional party members, that have a strange sense of honour and duty, wield large 2 handed weapons that are strongly bonded with them, and are surprisingly strong, but at the same time squishy for what you'd expect of them ( at least in my opinion) and being initially very reserved about themselves, baring very limited information about their goals, and having dark pasts of sorts.

I like the start of this track. It's basically sad & simple (reflecting their lives pretty well), & then it leads into the "harder" side of music (a.k.a. the rest if their lives).
Overall, this is a nice track that definitely shows two ghosts struggling with their misery

How many is that for Guts now, 3 tracks not counting both versions of Awakened Sacrifice ? He’s pretty high up in the ranks now. And what a wonderful track to make the top rankings that is. Also *DAMN* that track art and title font are some of the best *EVER.*
Honestly the first one since I lost my PC that I fully regret not having it to review because I’ll have to cut that review short despite having so much that I could say on it. Seriously, it’s absolutely amazing.
It has calmer moments to reflect the tragic background of the characters along with Old Man Kratos’ new personality but even in those calm moments it holds so much power with heavy percussions to showcase the sheer wrath and anguish those two characters hold, for better or for worst.
But then there’s the heavier moments that hit like a freaking *truck* with how strong they are. Sure they still hold a clear sadness and tragedy in them, yes, but it’s also backed up by a titanic amount of power which describes those characters perfectly not to mention it fits their series OSTs well too as we get a main melody similar to what you’d hear in a Berserk track but played with instruments fitting of a God of War game to make a perfect mix.
This whole track feels like a sort of antithesis to Awakened Sacrifice in a way. While the aforementioned was about the two characters understanding the pain of the other even if they must kill one another, this one feels like it’d start with the two respecting one another with a perfectly calm start, perhaps even starting the fight against their wishes, but that it’d end in an absolute bloodbath where both characters would unleash absolutely everything they have to rip the other apart.
To me this is well represented in the ending via the chanting which can be interpreted in multiple ways. Either you can interpret it as chantings to represent the godly powers at play in the end of the fight or, more interestingly, as a sort of « breaking point » where the characters are fully letting go, unleashing all their rage which is represented in those « voices » which were previously caged and are finally being let out into the fight as neither character is holding back to their morality anymore, something that especially fits Kratos in this case. This whole ending is just the cherry on top of an absolutely wonderful song. Hell, even the post-climax is great as we get another peaceful segment befitting of the characters too as, no matter who won, they’d likely make peace with the person they killed, respecting the fallen warrior (even more so given that Kratos is the likely winner of the fight and that’s definitely something he’d do.)
Overall this track is not something I expected to happen in a thousand years but I’m really glad it became a thing because this song is absolutely amazing. It’s not just a great listen but it’s filled to the brim with details that fit both characters perfectly to the point where I once again had to cut it short else my phone spontaneously combust from the length of this comment. Id’ say that I wonder if this track is getting vocals but honestly I don’t see how you’d be able to improve on it given how perfect the use of the chants is in this. Absolutely grandiose work with this.
A Guts L is sad, but a Kratos W is epic.

Kratos obviously has this in the bag because the dude is a god while Guts is a just a mortal man
I mean, you'd be surprised. There's been plenty of moments in Berserk where Guts was getting his ass absolutely handed to him, but then he spots and executes spur-of-the-moment counterattacks at precise moments to turn the tide of the fight. Biggest example was when Mozgus' angels had him bound and were smashing him with a giant wheel, but then at one point he went "fuck it, I'll use this to my advantage" by firing off a cannon shot at the same time he gets hit (killing the angel who just smashed him) and uses the velocity to launch himself at another one to chop it in half. Or later on after that, he was getting absolutely pounded by Mozgus, but then decides to pretend like he's out of energy by weakly punching him before falling over, only for it to reveal that he deliberately placed high powered bombs into a weak spot in the guy's chest.
Basically, Kratos better be sure that he finishes the fight fast and quick, or Guts might pull a fast and clever move at some point that could cripple him in an instant. Basically being far more of a clever fighter than a purely brute force one, unlike Kratos.

@@aceg.rookie Yea, the way they worded it definitely wasn't a great explanation, but it's still possible to point at situations within the manga and go "this is where the overpowered guy got too cocky and fucked up" in the fights. So I think their main point was that Guts just has a tendency to exploit overconfidence/weaknesses rather than just being strong.

There are two ways this can be interpreted depending on which Kratos is being used.
Young Kratos: Kratos (with the Blade of Olympus) and Guts (in Berserker Armor) are angry and are slashing each other over and over, screaming in anger while doing so with them shrugging over any blow that the other is doing until Guts falls to the ground, dead.
Old Kratos: Kratos activates Spartan Rage as he faces Guts in his Berserker Armor, with them attacking each other and shrugging off the other's blows until Guts falls to the ground, dead.

Kratos stomps. He's easily stronger, has a more varied arsenal depending on which version is being used (Greek or Norse), he can likely steal or *destroy* Dragonslayer, plus some of his enchantments from the Norse saga give him an ability akin to Bayonetta's Witch Time. He could easily get around the Berserker Armor's "protections" by simply bisecting or decapitating Guts, either of which he could easily do.

In the case of a Death Battle gotta give this one to Kratos. While both have arms and armor that can do serious damage, one of them has more fighting experience and speed......and that's Kratos.
A death battle I've would love to see and don't get me wrong I'd enjoyed the death battle between guts vs Dimitri it was entertaining fight but in my personal opinion Kratos vs guts would've been a better matchup it would have been epic and how cool it would be if there was a berserk game with God of war mechanics.

Completely random suggestion that I'm literally just commenting before I forget: dorn il khan ( baldurs gate) Vs sten ( dragon age origins). 2 humanoid, tall, dark, brutally honest optional party members, that have a strange sense of honour and duty, wield large 2 handed weapons that are strongly bonded with them, and are surprisingly strong, but at the same time squishy for what you'd expect of them ( at least in my opinion) and being initially very reserved about themselves, baring very limited information about their goals, and having dark pasts of sorts.

Frankly, I see this fight going on as something like what a battle with Alucard from Hellsing against a mortal would be. Yes, Kratos would fight for self defense and to ensure that his own mission can be completed...but to go up against a human who rejects the Gods and battles for the sake of humanity...Guts would qualify as a worthy opponent.
