- Marcel Dupre plays part IV "Résurrection" from his own Symphonie-Passion, Op. 23.
This was recorded by Philips, at St Ouen in 1965.
This is a remastered recording sold under [The Mercury Living Presence Recordings] [478 8388] which I highly recommend buying.
This recording is one of few that really brings out the amazing strength and musicality of the 32' Contre-bombarde. It seemed to sound better in these older recordings.
Enjoy, and buy the cds!
Despite his arthritis at this time, his playing still has an other-worldly quality. He plays with such majesty. I'm proud to be a musical descendant of his :)
Marcel Dupré par lui-même... Bel enregistrement souvenir !
The master and genious, outstanding performance despite his arthritis of his both hands at that time
Wonderful rendition on my favorite organ by mon maître!
Le bel orgue de France. Une puissance et des basses inouïes !
WOW is all we can say..
That low D in the Contre Bombarde 32' needed to be tuned. Otherwise great recording! And great piece!
Check out Marsha Heather Long playing this piece on the organ at St John the Divine in New York....Awesome!
