Loving this raw discussion. But Let me break it down from how I see and understand it. South Asians came to Canada over a century ago. Many also came after the 1960s from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc and settled in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. So these minorities have been here for a minute. They came from all over, and represent different regions, languages, ethnicities and religions. For example: Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam and even Christianity. There’s a lot of internal divisions. But in recent years it seems like many under educated Indians from specific areas and poorer economic backgrounds have been arriving to fill labour shortages. This is the Canadian government’s tactic imo.
India also has a crazy racist right wing government since 2013 (The BJP). It is a Hindu supremacist government and fundamentally anti-Muslim. India has the worlds second largest Muslim
Population after Indonesia, and is often targeted. The BJP has and continues to commit mass human rights violations against Indian Muslims, Sikhs, lower castes, women, etc. So a lot of that toxic Hindutva ideology has been imported over the last 15 years (see modi government).
Not all brown folks dislike black people; but there are a lot of prejudices held by the right wing oriented folks who were already racist back home in India. Also note, many south Asians like other immigrant groups that come here stick to each other like glue. Most south Asians born here have nothing in common with the newcomers, and actually feel marginalized.
Yup they used to hate Jamaicans lol.
But there's a whole full fledged campaign during BLM movement in India (with almost 0% black population). From Bollywood to sportspersons supportingBLM. Check Indian news
@@086wolf but what does that have to do with Canada or how Black people are treated in India? When I say they used to hate Jamaicans I mean Canadian society. Just like most immigrant groups that come here they are never welcomed with open arms.
Great insights into the racial/social undertones of immigration in Canada. As a 1st generation Iranian-Canadian, I can relate to the struggle of "fitting in" while simultaneously holding onto our core racial identities. It's a delicate balance, and the dynamics are always shifting as the demographics of our population continue to change. That said, love, peace and unity for all of us Canadian citizens bound together on this land and by ONE LOVE!
All the things he's talking about is pretty much common knowledge but unfortunately black people don't want to come together and build anything.

Can't own anything when everything is expensive for you, and your not willing to live with family and build , if not why struggle to look rich and build nothing. Only time blacks are coming together is at a party

Listen to hiphop never the other way around, brown people talk our slang and look up to our athletes and artists and never the other way around. We aren’t competing with them.
You are competing with them, When all the Canadian job market becomes 90% indian and you find yourself having to move to USA or UK to get work, you'll see the problem. Don't be surprised in a few years you go to a Caribbean restaurant and a Punjab is the one serving you oxtails.
Jamacian people are mixed with African,European, Asian, Indian , and indigenous if you look back at the history, im pretty sure there are black people that like Indian food and go to Indian restaurants. Jamaican food is heavily influenced by Indian food. I agree with the music and athletes etc..I don’t think ethnicities should be competing against each other but love one another. It’s sad to see the influx of Indians here but it’s you stay or you leave or hope for a change. If you hate then you wasting your time

People forget about regular concepts of spirituality coming from India , including karma that everyone uses. There are enough racist Indians to give the impression that Indians are racist (except to white ppl). However as many times as we count the racist people we must count all the loving and open hearted Indians which (I can't tell you the percentage of them) but I can tell you that there are ALOT of wonderful Indians too. Hopefully we can judge people on a person-by-person basis even though its hard when you're paranoid about who is racist and who's not. I'm middle eastern muslim and when I traveled there I heard lots of islamophobic stuff but it didn't change my opinion on all Indians/brown people.
It was never HINDUSTAN... BRUHHHH. Historic name for India was Bharat. Please don't perpetuate the ignorant "Black/West Indian" trope.
