4:49. Interesting moment when Steve Martin scolds the crew with a stern glance as he tries to hold himself together right before losing it. Imagine sitting across from Glick zeroing in on you with those bug eyes while he gets more and more intense about doing a stinky.
It's a little-discussed Hollywood insider secret, but the only REAL reason people try so hard to get famous is so that they can be interviewed by Jiminy Glick.
ivan karamazov. Somewhere Jiminy Glick interviewed Norm. I think the audio is on UA-cam somewhere. Norm presented a Canadian award show and Marty was there I believe
This is brilliant. After listening to Martin Short's autobiography, I came to this. It took me a minute or two to get his point of view. Glick is so wonderful horribly ignorant, offensive, and wrong in nearly every way. And it does make you forgt that this is Martin Short. His friends, like Goldie Hawn and Steve, are particularly good.
The amazing Martin Short. He's so incredibly funny, his comedic timing is so sharp, he's one of the only stars, that can make all the other comedian's and professional actor's completely lose it from laughing so hard.
He finally got to Steve Martin lol It took him a long while, but he conquered him in his own inimitable way! Two geniuses. This match goes to Jiminy. HIS version on insanity prevailed!
This was the best one… Their repartee is incredible. They are working together, as opposed to some of the other guests who have a little ‘something to prove’
I find Jiminy to be a fascinating and intriguing individual. Don't care for the Martin short character he portrays from time to time, a little too dry and self absorbed for my taste. The white haired guy pumped my gas and did an excellent job of getting the bugs off my windshield the other day at the full service station. Went as far as to tip him and made a passing remark to the station assistant manager.
Actually I cannot stop watching these interviews. These guys are hilarious! Steve Martin is my favorite actor comedian and these two together makes my stomach hurt. Way too funny
It’s a veryl little known fact that these two go way way back. Steve Martin actually used to be the personal assistant of Jiimminy who seems to have forgotten all about that stint, or perhaps it’s just a cruel prank to stroke his own ego.
But they weren’t at this time. Other than 3 Amigos they really didn’t work together or know each other much until this interview. It was obit after this that they slowly started working together more regularly.
Discussion points: -Glenn Gould -Pig-Eye Jackson -Painful humor discussion -De Kooning -Waiting for Godot -Shopgirl Movie -Halle Barry -Women in military -Adult Diapers Very dynamic interview.
I can't take it...this is the funniest of the Glick interviews to me. When he sticks with the word "stinky" until Steve totally loses it....ahhh the Genius of Martin Short. I just read his autobiography, and it's absolutely HILARIOUS and a very good read.
I agree. The stinky bit was the best. Speaking of Martin Short. Anyone remember when that TV host was asking how his wife was. She had passed away. Awkward.
It was a great interview, however, I do prefer the early ones where the celeb didn't know it was Martin Short and a gag. It's been a while since I've seen those, can anyone name some of those celebs so I can re-watch them? (And not Mel Brooks, I know that one well.)
When Steve Martin insists he was named after his father and not Glenn Gould, and that his family had had no idea who Gould was, Glick concludes that the Martins were "hillbilly types who didn't listen to records."
At 2:00 when Steve is trying to find the words to describe the audience that appreciates his humor and Jiminy just completely disregards him and says "de Kooning". 🤣
The genius of Martin Short is that Steve Martin was the one who introduced the adult diapers into the bit and then Short proceeds to break him just by pulling at the thread and not letting up
I’ve been a Introvert all my life and don’t laugh out loud in company, but am in tears with laughter with Jiminy and Steve. Two very special, funny people. We all need more of this.
Most successful comedy double acts involve a good straight man. A good straight man is very hard to find. Most comedians want to "out-funny" each other. Steve Martin is a VERY funny guy, but also understands comedy enough to know that if he was acting "funny" this sketch wouldn't have worked.
Good point. Martin Short simply cannot do the straight man, so that role falls to Steve Martin by default. Steve can do either side of the humor extremely well. I recommend Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to see Steve on the other side, when Michael Caine was the straight man. (Mostly.)
I love how Steve Martin holds it together very calmly, not caving to Jiminy’s jokes, until he pours it on thick with all the talk of doing a “stinky.” Don’t worry Steve, you did great against a formidable foe-Jiminy eventually cracks even the best of ‘em.
That's a good point and hardily anybody every asks it and for good reason. The point being we love Martin and Jiminy Glick. I've always thought it odd they never appear together but Jiminy is an important man and Martin Short is Canadian.
If Short were taller, he would bump his head more often. This would result in more concussions, loss of memory, intelligence. So Short would no longer be as funny.
it must be some kind of a record, this guy has me hee-hawing every single interview I've watched now...hard to believe I never heard of this character before binge watching now doomed as doomed can be, I must say...
It s funny that Jiminy mistakenly refers to "Shopgirl", Steve's book, as if it were a movie, because it subsequently was made into a movie that Steve starred in with Claire Danes.
0:14 - That look, just got me, like it got Steve Martin here. Martin Short is unique, he can make anyone laugh with just one facial expression. Not many can do it.
Did you see the movie Pollock ? 👁👁 Did you see the movie Lust for Light? 👁👁 Good lord Martin can just crack you up from his goofy, stare off into nothingness because-I-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about face is pure comedy! So hilarious...!
"So therefore, Glenn Gould was just a family friend?". Kills me every time.
The blank stares when Steve Martin asks if he’s seen certain movies. And then when Glick thinks he saw a book in the movie theater, lol!
And yet changing the angle of the stare... bears a LOT of repeat watches😊
i love how you can hear the entire crew cracking up at the end
4:49. Interesting moment when Steve Martin scolds the crew with a stern glance as he tries to hold himself together right before losing it. Imagine sitting across from Glick zeroing in on you with those bug eyes while he gets more and more intense about doing a stinky.
I love when Steve finally breaks. There's such affection between these two great comics
It's a little-discussed Hollywood insider secret, but the only REAL reason people try so hard to get famous is so that they can be interviewed by Jiminy Glick.
him and Norm MacDonald
ivan karamazov. Somewhere Jiminy Glick interviewed Norm. I think the audio is on UA-cam somewhere. Norm presented a Canadian award show and Marty was there I believe
Its definitely the only reason I would ever want to be famous
YES this is so true
These are facts
The image of Robin Williams doing the "applause meter" in Waiting for Godot had me rolling on the floor... Glick is genius!!
"Certain people like yourself need the lines" lol
This my favourite dig, as well fully respect to Robin Williams 🤣
Martin Short has to be the funniest man alive.
It's not hyperbole if he happens to be the funniest man alive. Have you seen the recent Glicks?
+Derek Gleeson up there with your late GREAT uncle Jackie!
+Derek Gleason: he's right up there with your late GREAT uncle Jackie! Bang zoom boom, we NEVER went to the moon!
greatest improv artist alive
I agree! Hes definitely one of the funniest people to ever walk this earth.. and criminally underrated in my opinion.
Steve has a killer smile. 😉
Your right, he does have a killer smile........
I like it too. I thought I was the only one
Ricky Martin is such a great comedian.
KulaAShaker Especially in this clip interviewing Steve Short.
Ricky Martinez is multifaceted apparently
How did I get to 2023 without ever hearing of Jiminy Glick... Have I just been punched into a new universe?!
Its 2024 and I just learned of him last week. Rumor is he's really Martin Short.
You have been missing out
i made it until 2024 and never heard of Jiminy Glick. I feel the same as you!
My, how life has short-changed you! Put on your adult diapers, do a stinky, and enjoy the show!💩
@@johnnynephrite6147Rumor is he’s Glenn Gould.
I watch these over and over
This is brilliant.
+Grant Hurlburt Stanley Tucci based his character in the Hunger Games partially on Glick. Talk about a high compliment.
I actually thought of that, almost to the point of blatant copy! Unfortunately none of the friends I saw the movies with knew who Glick is!
The amazing Martin Short. He's so incredibly funny, his comedic timing is so sharp, he's one of the only stars, that can make all the other comedian's and professional actor's completely lose it from laughing so hard.
“Yes and we made moonshine” laughed HARD
Norm MacDonald noticed that Steve Martin has a way of just stating a fact and he still finds a way to make it funny.
He finally got to Steve Martin lol It took him a long while, but he conquered him in his own inimitable way! Two geniuses. This match goes to Jiminy. HIS version on insanity prevailed!
Martin Short is a genius and always cracks me up!
Simply fantastic. Always makes me laugh.
The best part of this interview is the discussion of "stinkies" and how serious Jiminy is about it.
"We had never actually even heard of Glenn Gould." 🤣🤣
Jiminy Glick is such a funny routine. Martin Short is funny as hell.
Adult diapers to be FREE to do a stinky!
and thats where the question mark around the word stinky come in
This was the best one…
Their repartee is incredible.
They are working together, as opposed to some of the other guests who have a little ‘something to prove’
Yes - watch the Alec Baldwin one. It's good but you can tell Alec def is trying to prove he can hang.
Laughed so hard my eyes are watering
So was Steve friggin' Martin !!
5:00 '... while talking to a big Oscar kind of considered actor over the years'
So interesting to see the intellectual Jiminy here.
Fun fact: Halle Berry WAS born on August 14.
This is1 of my fav interviews w Glick
I love how Steve Martin is trying so hard to hold back the laughter towards the end and then totally loses it when Jiminy admits he pissed his pants.
The glance of a true comedy pro trying to keep it together at 4:51 (and probably not appreciating that the crew can't).
“We didn’t really know glen Gould, or we have never actually even heard of glen Gould” 😂
Steve was out-rivaled in this one for sure...Martin Short simply is boundlessly funny here XD
Can "Jiminy G" be in the only murders in the building show next season please lol
shop girl became a movie, ha, GLICK seen the future lol
Speaking of crapping your pants, that movie was a stinky
The asides to the camera are hilarious!
Free to do a stinky. I can’t stop laughing at that.
These two have great chemistry!!
Today Happy Aug 14 Birthday Steve Martin!
Martin channeling Woody Allen: 'Th-this is an exciting interview...when do we get to a question?" Hilarious!
Steve tried to play it straight, but Martin short got the best of him in the end.
oh god i wish there was more of this interview
"I wanna say I wanna say "I pity the fool, but that's mister T" WAUW
This is what I feel like talking to my crazy ass neighbor.
These 2 are so good together! 🤣🤣🤣
“De Kooning...who’s de Kooning?” 🤣😭
-You were in shop girl.
-Shop girl is a book.
-What's shop girl about?
-It's about a relationship tha-
-Seen it.
I'm pretty sure those two are soulmates!
It took almost 2 complete episodes but Glick FINALLY cracked up Steve Martin.
I find Jiminy to be a fascinating and intriguing individual. Don't care for the Martin short character he portrays from time to time, a little too dry and self absorbed for my taste. The white haired guy pumped my gas and did an excellent job of getting the bugs off my windshield the other day at the full service station. One might as well resign to the slip into insanity with Martin Short. 😆 🍩 LOL
All I see is the high priests from Prince of Egypt
He's too good.
Two very funny guys! 😂😂😂
“Why did you think people are wearing adult diapers? To give them bulk at that age? I think they’ve got it.”
Gold.
"I don't get it - are you doing more of your irony humor?"
"Yes, actually. I'm sorry..."
It’s a veryl little known fact that these two go way way back. Steve Martin actually used to be the personal assistant of Jiimminy who seems to have forgotten all about that stint, or perhaps it’s just a cruel prank to stroke his own ego.
This stuff is still funny thanx to Marty Short...a comic genius.
"The answer is D, the Euphrates" ... LOL That was funny. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
9/11/23, 10:34 p.m.
I was making the same argument a couple of days ago. It's so very true.
This is definitely one of the best Glick interviews. I love that these two are best friends. They have great chemistry.
You actually mean that they know each other?!
What’s next? That Martin Short and Chevy Chase are friends too?
That’s like 3 friends or something. 😅
But they weren’t at this time. Other than 3 Amigos they really didn’t work together or know each other much until this interview. It was obit after this that they slowly started working together more regularly.
Steve is just a family friend.
The "Uh uh." after the birthday always gets me. 😂😂😂
That's a master comic delivery.
Priceless! Just watched that spot 5 times in a row
so true, bro!!!
So frigin funny!!!
I keep rewinding that!
He brought that same thing back at the end of the recent Bill Hader interview. I can’t get enough of it.
"It's about a relationship…"
"Seen it."
Genius.
ruscopcoltrain 💯
Yeah okay
Because Steve just told him it was a book, and made a joke about it
🤣
Loved it lol

Martin & Steve are so great together. Loving "Only Murders in the Building" right now. Such chemistry between the two
Steve Martin plays a great straight man.
David Randall Curtis Ha ha! Yeah, that's the key. These Jiminy Glick interviews are best when the guest doesn't try to out funny Jiminy.
Evan deCatanzaro Disagree. Martin's reactions are the thing that makes this one of Jiminy's funniest interviews.
Martin's wife died years ago so I don't think he is gay
+Shawn Murphy Steve and Victoria Tennant divorced years ago, it was Martys' wife who passed years ago unfortunately
unlike the cringy interview with jerry seinfeld
Steve Martin: "I think of it as a smarter crowd."Jiminy: "Who?" Fucking hilarious!!
When Steve Martin insists he was named after his father and not Glenn Gould, and that his family had had no idea who Gould was, Glick concludes that the Martins were "hillbilly types who didn't listen to records."
"...and in the background was a wonderful abstract painting that everyone pretended to care about. And I think that was a de Kooning" !!

At 2:00 when Steve is trying to find the words to describe the audience that appreciates his humor and Jiminy just completely disregards him and says "de Kooning". 🤣
I swear to god he’s making some vague reference to Steve looking somewhat like de Kooning lmfaoooo
The genius of Martin Short is that Steve Martin was the one who introduced the adult diapers into the bit and then Short proceeds to break him just by pulling at the thread and not letting up
I'm doing a " stinkee" while I'm watching this and I've never felt freer.
The diaper bit as become a comedic classic :-)

😆
Lol that cracked me up so hard... He had to get that last curve ball in there
"I did it 5 minutes ago, never felt better; never felt freer" I laughed for 5 mins straight hearing that
Steve Martin used that very schtick in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels when he pees his pants at the table.
Martin says he wears adult diapers for two reasons:
#1
and #2.
Now, who said it, Steve or Short or Steve Shorter. It's his privilege. Get it?
Most successful comedy double acts involve a good straight man. A good straight man is very hard to find. Most comedians want to "out-funny" each other. Steve Martin is a VERY funny guy, but also understands comedy enough to know that if he was acting "funny" this sketch wouldn't have worked.

I love how he says he pissed himself 5 minutes ago at right about the 5:00 mark
2:05 that confusion take Glick does after being asked about Pollack. HILARIOUS! Martin Short is a master!
