I know this is going to sound morbid, but i make Halloween props, including my own recipe of fake blood. Just for kicks. I grabbed one of my large chef's knifes, covered the flat edge with fake blood, and ran the bloody edge of the knife across my own throat. The result? A slash/wound pattern exactly like the one on Darlie's - the angle was almost exactly the same. I can't even imagine why an intruder would stab the boys, but slash her, but even if a murderer would have had a notion to change his mode, that slash mark would be hard to duplicate if she were on the couch, and the intruder was looming over her. No, sir. That slash is ridiculously consistent with a self-inflicted slash.

I'm glad you used that pic of Darlie for your thumbnail. It shows what an airhead she is, and also the happiness in her eyes. Her sons have just been stabbed to death in the most brutal way, yet she's fine. She's also saying, "people's gossip is the worst evil in the world." Really, Darlie? I would've thought people who kill children would be the worst evil in the world.

OMG, thank you so much also for discussing the placement of Damon's body!! To me, that never made much sense if he was sleeping there, (he couldn't see the TV from there, and why sleep in a place where he's so likely to be tripped over) but it did make sense in the context that perhaps his brother was attacked first, and he tried to escape and was chased down and attacked where he fell. Or, as you said, that he tried to crawl away. Both scenarios are almost unthinkably horrific and tragic, but sadly they do seem to make sense to me.

First Darlie took a knife from the kitchen to cut the window screen, then put it back and grabbed a bigger knife to commit the crime. why would a killer put a knife back in the holder and grab another knife? Darlie then put a sock on her hand while she murdered her sons, then ran it down the street to drop it. The sock only had Devon and Damons blood on it. it had Darlie's and Darrin's DNA on it though, there's a difference. If Darlie was attacked like she said she was there would have been her blood too on it. it took the investigators 4 mins walking back and forth, so she had plenty of time to run 3 houses down. She ran back and cut herself by the sink with her apposing arm to make it appear she was attacked by an intruder from behind. She started staging the crime scene, and Darrin woke up when she broke the glass on the floor before she called 911, that's when the timeline started. she had lots of time to stage it. Darlie's blood and footprints were on the bottom of the broken glass too. Darlie's feet would have had cuts on them if the glass was broken during a struggle. where were the intruder's footprints? and why would an intruder murder those little boys so viciously first and then go after Darlie? her wounds were not as bad as she claims. those boys were butchered! Her neck wound did not require stiches, and she was only in ICU because the police wanted to question her without the press, her family allowed those pics to be taken. after she was arrested, she wrote a letter from jail clamming to know who the intruder was, when confronted on the stand she admitted to lying about it. Her story makes no sense. as of 2023 Darlie's new defense is trying to blame Darrin for some insurance scam. Darrin had a 200 thousand life insurance policy on her, the boys had 5 grand each on them. If Darrin really set, her up why wasn't she killed first? more money for him..... theres so much more don't be fooled by Darlie she is monster and deserves no sympathy..

The cut on her neck was superficial and did not require sutures. The carotid is buried underneath a muscle, which would have to be cut to get to it. No doctor ever said how close (much less the 2mm lie) she came to the carotid and of course it was not nicked as they claim.

@@UnderCver-bd1xh I commend you for questioning how anyone can know something is a fact enough to state it as a "fact". And with all do respect to the original poster of this comment , unfortunately you will see ALOT of this sprinkled through out the comment section of literally every single video on this case, and you might notice a trend with the people and repeated remarks . They usually are just stating something that they believe but type it as a fact . This always confused me to , until I caught on that they were just trying to be convincing .. Alot of the times you will see the same people and the same remarks . Even sometimes saying that they "know 100%" that she did this or that . In my experience when people use this type of dialogue it takes away from the validity of their statement . And another trend is hostile language towards a supporter. Its just an observation though , by all means I would recommend that you make your own observations . In this particular comment there are alot of supporters who say that Darlie wouldnt have had enough time to stage this crime so the supporters say that the timeline was based off of expert testimony stating that damon could have only lived up to 9 minutes after being stabbed , which after the 911 call really only leaves 1-2 minutes for her to do everything that the prosecution states she did. For example , the screen , the sock , i guess the vaccum , wine glass ect. So defense thinks there is not enough time in that window to perform all of this staging and also slit her own throat and inflict stab wounds upon herself . So this comment reflects the states side that she could have done all of these things because the timeline did not start until after she staged the scene because they believe she came back from staging the scene, saw damon still alive , and then stabbed him 2 more times , and they believe the 9 minute window started afterwards . So even on a good day that is speculation and you would have to believe that damon was stabbed 2 seperate times .and be sure that it was the "2nd " attack that provided the lethal injuries, which isnt possible for us to know. I hope I made sense and wasnt too confusing , the only reason I replied was bec I could see you genuinly wanted to know so I tried to give the most unbiased explanation that I could and explain both sides theories not just one :)

Warning long comment with lost of info!! The problem is she was on fen fen, the diet pill for months before the attack. The lawyers who did the lawsuit for the class action when they recalled fen fen said the vast majority of them had major memory issues, and sleep issues. 1 was a marine with 3 kids who supposedly used to wake up at the slightest sound before and after taking fen fen she slept through an F3 tornado in her neighborhood that almost ripped her house down (that part is hearsay and could be bs I understand that!) but there was another woman who was 4.0 gpa all through school and the last 3 years of collage but took Fen fen to loose weight for her last year of school and said she could no longer retain any info she studied and failed all her classes her last year of collage, others would call in and tell them they had only taken fen fen for 3 weeks then call a week later and say no I was wrong it was 6 weeks, another still who he had a sit down hour long conversation about how she wasn’t the same person anymore she was depressed and couldn’t remember things and would get really angry and yell at her family for no reason out do the blue but when he called her the following week she claimed over the phone that she didn’t really remember much of their conversation. He said the saddest part of that is fen fen did not report that their medication had a toxin in it that affected the brain in a big way but that they couldn’t do anything about that for any of the clients in the law suit with exception to the heart valve issues it was causing them and would cause them the rest of their lives. Now all of that SHOULD be able to be checked and verified BUT when it comes to memory and mood those are things people can/could fake, but if it is true could answer why her story changed so many times and why she was able to sleep through most of the attack. You never know.

The sock had just a few blood spots from the kids when it probably should have been absolutely soaked with blood (if we are to believe that this 'man' used the sock on his hand instead of a glove?) I think that Darlie planted the sock first, and then came back to the house and did the rest of it. I'm old enough to distinctly remember when this happened and I'm still just as on the fence about reasonable doubt regarding her guilt as I was 25ish years ago. Without Susan Smith's highly publicized case and conviction right before the Routier boys were murdered, I wonder if the jury would have returned a different verdict? Not based on innocence, just based on examination of evidence presented (without interference from the heightened emotions thanks to Smith's callous antics). PS- so glad your baby boy is growing and thriving!! Been praying for him and your family 💙

It can toy with your logic! In the end I do think the jury made the right choice, almost always have, but there has always been so much debate with the case and some arguments seem incredibly valid and have made me think "hmmmmm...", which was exactly why used the phrase "on the fence" (regarding the trial, not her innocence), and why I was so excited to hear Brett and Alice discuss it. 😊

@@heidileigh7023 It's not a matter of innocence, it's a standard of proof that must be met in order to find for a guilty verdict. Reading the prevailing opinions of those in the prosecution's side, they keep talking about how the defense never proved an intruder was in the house, demonstrating how upside down this case was from the very beginning. It's not their burden to prove anything. Many aspects of the case people accept as credible evidence against her, wasn't at all. Merely accusations. Just as one example of many, the claim that she cleaned the sink. No evidence. Zip. Anyone could have run water and washed the blood off in the chaos that ensued with everyone in the house contaminating the crime scene, running around kicking broken glass over blood trails. So many of the prosecution's claims were easily dismissed with a modicum of common sense.

But the inside of the sink was spotless, until luminol was sprayed in it
Darlie admitted in her testimony that there were only two possibilities: either it was an intruder or it was her. There was zero evidence of any intruder. Darlie as a defendant may not have to prove there was an intruder, but Darlie the witness made it pretty clear that if there wasn't evidence for an intruder, the only other possible suspect was her.

@@kevinmichael2593 Wrong. There were cops and EMS running around the house unconcerned about crime scene contamination, kicking broken glass over blood trails, only to have the scumbag DA's office knowing lie about it.
Once again, there's nothing sinister about darlie being at the sink wetting towels or whatever else. You just want to portray it as such because the case lacked any evidence. Anyone could have also used the sink as well, splashing water on the clean smooth stainless steel sides and into the drain. There's no evidence it was cleaned. Just more prosecurial desperation.
Plenty of evidence of an intruder. Slashed window screen, broken furniture, sock in ally way, bloody fingerprint. ANYONE with your level of bias could deny the evidence in the vast majority of crime scenes, claiming the victim staged it. Because often, it would about impossible to determine if that were the case or not. Where's you evidence that it all was staged? Right. There isn't any. That's the entire theme of this joke of a trial. Darlie was convicted before she walked into the court room. Evidence wasn't required. The prosecution simply made up theories, spewed claims, and everyone just accepted it as fact.
Why did the state fight tooth and nail to keep the bloody print from being run on the FBI data base? Easy. They didn't want their case to fall apart when it showed to be someone that never should have been in that house. It still may not have been run. I can't find that info anywhere.
Why did the state refuse supply the fibers from the butter knife to the defense for analysis? Conveniently, they claimed there weren't enough. Isn't that handy? Why should anyone believe them, then? They lied repeatedly during the trial.
Why did they claim the mulch was below the window of entry, when it wasn't?
Why did they claim the dust on the window sill would have to be disturbed when it was inches off the ground and easily stepped over?
Why did the nurses lie and say darlie showed no emotion when their own notes said she was crying much of the time?
Got the answers to those questions. The DA's office was rotted with corruption.

(Darren discussing with someone to carry out this robbery). People do desperate things when they are about to lose their home. I am AMAZED that the bread knife debris was not tested so that either side could say with definition that it came from the screen or it did not. WHY??? why was it not tested? Assuming all the rest of the evidence is reliable - and it seems to me that it is, the sock is a mere afterthought.
But even if one thinks the sock is important, why does the sock belong to the husband? If the sock belongs to the husband, why would an intruder grab a random household sock with the boys' blood, run out of the house, for 75 yards (225 ft), drop the sock, then return to the crime scene to slash Darlie's throat? The sock has only the children's blood and not hers.
It's nonsensical. What DOES make sense, to me, is that SHE took a sock from inside the house, ran out and dropped it in an effort to claim that an intruder ( for some damn reason) took a sock with blood evidence and just dropped it as he absconded into the night. Once she dropped the sock, she came back and slashed her own throat. Apparently, she thought "evidence" of the murder outside of the house would lend credence to her intruder story. Which it didn't.

I think if you realized what a sham the trial was you'd rethink your belief in this one. But yes, this is a point the lynch mob would prefer to gloss over. In most or all other cases, to my understanding anyway, the moms that killed their children had all kinds of emotional issues. Susan Smith for example, was a religious nut job, at times barely in touch with reality. Others had a history of child abuse. Despite the prosecution's desperate attempts at character assassination, the results were pitiful. She was an an average young mom with run of the mill average problems. It was the prosecution's claim that money problems would cause a mom to dispose of her children. This displays HIS jaw dropping depravity. Not hers.

The problem with 'expert' witnesses, are they give the evidence YOU want the to. The defence pay an 'expert' for their side, and the prosecution, pay an 'expert' to put across their side. Two or more experts that give opposite reasons. I think in today's psychology, an "expert' would be able to explain the fact that she cannot remember the trauma.

One of the reasons the woman's sitting on death row is that she's, quite frankly, not terribly sophisticated. Instead of relating her fragmented mess of a memory as fact, she would have been better served by realizing her memory was faulty, and admitting that. 6/6/96. Kinda weird. I’m a forensic psychologist and you can pretty much tell who the murderer is when all the family members who die are absolutely just butchered/overkilled but the one who survives has something like a paper cut. Jeffrey MacDonald in 1970, Darlie Routier in 1996, and countless other familicides over the past 100 years in the U.S.. It’s always an interesting thing for me to evaluate the family member who ends up being the murderer and continue to see their lack of insight. In spite of clear evidence of their guilt, they are just shocked that anyone believes they were responsible for murder. The family murderer always thinks they’re smarter than everyone, especially the police. But as in the cases of MacDonald and Routier, they both missed important, necessary facts in creating their ‘ murder narratives’ because neither one was an experienced murderer nor had either one previously suffered a violent attack in their own homes at the hands of an intruder who had direct experience of how such crimes tend to occur. The thought processes are just fascinating to me.

Well I presented this case with my friend on her channel Truth and Justice Channel and followed it for years. I’ve always thought she was innocent but her husband isn’t. He either had it done or was involved in some things which caused it to be done.
My sticking point was always the silly string incident. That’s just weird for a mom.
But the sock!!! And there was no way she had time and she’s not a criminal mastermind so…

She did it. She cut the screen with the bread knife, put it back in the wood block and selected the butcher knife. Stabbed the boys, planted the sock, cut herself at the sink, noticed Damon still moving across the family room and inflicted his fatal wound(s). Broke the wine glass, screamed and called 911.
The sock contains her DNA in the inside toe area, and the boys' blood on the outside. It implicates only her. No one else can be forensically attached to it.
If you read Dr Townsend-Parchman's testimony, you'll find the "timing" is just another misinformation tactic by the defense. It was Mulder who pressed her to estimate the timing of Damon's survivability, to which she answered, "you can't tell".

I went through and read the complete trial transcripts from start to finish and according to the testimony of a number of medical professionals who cared for Darlie on the night of the murders, there was no bruising on her arms. They also testified that based on the color, etc of the bruises in the photos taken by law enforcement, those bruises would have occurred within the last 24 hours before the photos were taken and would have been caused by blunt force trauma. The photos were not taken until days after the crime. The belief is that she actually did whatever she did to create the bruises during the time period between the night of the murders and when the photos were taken by police, due to the fact that she feared that they were onto her. They also testified that if they were defensive wounds, they would appear on the opposite side of her arm

I was a volunteer EMT and also was medic at regattas and sailing events. I’ve had deeper cuts from stainless steel cables than what she has no neck. I get why they rushed her to surgery w other deaths but if an EMT has cleaned her wound there, clearly would of seen how superficial it was. I mean the steri strips give it way. It wasn’t deep enough to stitch, like her arm, nor even a continual laceration. Saw her shirt and even though you say she cut some veins, neck wounds, I’ve seen, unless major blood vessel cut, don’t bleed like that unless adrenaline is pumping. If she ran sick down wherever, came home, stabbed last child one more time than cut herself last, did they map out CS where who’s blood was were like MacDonald case? Seems that would of been a good idea considering her versions of events. Also noted on husband & wife’s first statements, DR said husband came down w jeans on & no glasses. Husband said he ran down w glasses & later put on jeans. His version sounds more likely. He also seems unaware wife was stabbed. So when he first came down she didn’t have as much blood on her shirt? Was her hysterical call for almost 7 mins to get blood flowing?
It’s the steri strips that 🚨me. I haven’t read much but sleeping boys stabbed in downward position & if she’s laying on her back and phone is showing correct angle & side, how did the killer “slice” her throat like that if she’s flat on back? First if he was at her side the angle is wrong, was he on top of her & raked knife. Left to right, in downward angle, ending around armpit? Now if he was behind her & had knife to throat & pulled upward, it would be deeper & in line. This looks like two different cuts. It’s not a continual line from one to other. If she’s right handed it would explain the shallow aspect and the two cuts. The upper cut would look more like a throat slitting but the lower cut looks like easier angle for a right handed person trying to cut themselves w left hand.
If there was a killer w a butcher knife, in the dark, w possible TV only, why would he stab down at them & slice at her? Makes no sense like MacDonald case. Why leave the strongest alive who can stop or describe you? Makes no sense.

There was blood on the sofa and a pillow. Where did her underwear go and what happened to partial r*pe test? Killer likely got her first, she passed out from shock but he thought she was gone. Julie Rae was also found guilty since the killer stab her with the kitchen knife he took from the home? Turned out it was serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells. Contributing factors: Perjury, false accusations and official misconduct the same as Darlie's case.

see the statement you made is one from a realist POV you are correct and if you think about cutting a screen with a breadknife i just dont see the logic , it would have indented the screen and made it banged up , if darlie did it why pick the most blunt edged knife , why wouldnt she mention the screen at all , and why not just knock it out of the window frame like the boys used to do everytime they snuck in to steal popcicles....and if there is an explanation which there is then why would people preach it like its gospel . the bottom line is some of us dont believe everything LE says and we axctually think of the possibilities you will ffind that even though darlie is on death row there are people who are obsessed with her and they like to write pages and pages of their "opinion" usually repeating things that dont make sense . but what you said is a logical response because it really doesnt make sense so i commend you for thinking outside of the box . This crime scene wasnt processed effectivly so that right ther is enough for any logical person with a realist standpoint to question that part of the case .I wish that it was the only part of this case that is a hack job but sadly everything that is mentioned as "Proof " are easily debunkable. The fibers on the screen were uestioned to be fibers from the fingerprinting brush and even though the fibers were similar to the fingerprinting brush no further testing was completed to prove it so they said "its probley the bread knife that cut the screen" and never proved it but stuck it in there to look like she staged the scene . She didnt even know the screen was cut so if she did it , she probley would have said something about it . just too suspicious for me to not see reasonable doubt

Yep. Agonal breathing. It's terrifying to witness if you don't know what it is.

I hate DAs. Have you ever met one that has ever admitted that they were wrong? But in this case these guys are right.
