Kirby I just want to say how much I enjoy and appreciate your videos. as a traumatized afghan vet, your videos relax me before bed and help me sleep. Plus I’m constantly using the info to upgrade how I dress, such as only wearing dress shoes and a button up shirt anytime I leave the house. Thank you! -Patrick
@@BullyBoxer that‘s me + i have a pretty standard body and feet, so i don‘t need bespoke clothing that much. I fit in most 48 regular fit suits very well after hemming the sleeves and with shoes I have a quite normal instep and normal width. Of course bespoke would probably be 5% better in very fine details but to me that‘s not worth spending that much more + i‘d be really paranoid about such expensive clothing to be ruined
I watch these videos and I think how special it must be to be a tailor and work in those shops. It would be an honor to visit one those places one day.
Hey Kirby, could you consider exploring the wonderful world of classic and modern classic automobiles. A wonderful space where craftsmanship and engineering are ar its finest❤
No lie. I showed up for knowledge on suits cause I have little to no knowledge on them and I have watched multiple videos now. Like respectfully gyatt.
47 years and ongoing. I wonder how many shirts Stephen's done in that time, must be thousands by now. It looks like Terry has taken over John's old cutting board and Sayumba has moved over to Terry's. I've got some made to measure shirts but I'd love to do some proper bespoke at some stage. Another great series on the go here.
Funny, just watched the older video about the difference between a $100 rtw CH and a $1000 bespoke Charvet shirt. Today it made me wearing my only bespoke shirt I have (by Luigi Borrelli) again after a year or so. I completely forgot how comfortable that feels. Indeed, apart from the fabrics, also the armpits making a clear difference, compared to ready to wear. 😮👍
I admire the way you dress Kirby... Unfortunately, people really dont put any effort or thought in what they wear anymore and how they look. In the 30's, peo pl le wouldn't dare leave their home looking the way they do. Appreciate you sir!
I think it's a cultural thing also. I travel often to Taiwan with my family and I notice that people there definitely separate inside clothes from outside clothes. They at least put some effort into looking nicer even if they don't dress in the classic style. I think it's impossible to expect the majority of people to do that anymore, but at least to realize that at-home clothes, and exercise clothes have their place and purpose and should be worn outside for normal use.
I have a short neck, and all my dress shirts' collars touch the bottom of my hairline. I've always wondered what a bespoke shirtmaker would do about that. I guess that's the one thing that I would want to have made bespoke is a dress shirt that doesn't make my neck look short. 😆
I still think it would be quite interesting if Kirby had Brian Shaw on an episode of suit fitting cause Brian is an actual giant. Just to see the difference in sizes.
You know Kirby, if you want to get another bespoke shirt. I'd go for a button-down collar, fitted linen shirt. Potentially in stripey pattern, or plain pattern. Would work really well for the summer in a navy suit or on its own. I say this because I am finding it virtually impossible to get a shirt that meets this criteria. A lot of them are soft collared or oversized which I really don't like.
I wonder if paisley is perceived as too gaudy by some? I'm pretty sure that I had a few of them when I was still wearing ties, but today I would tend toward stripes and small patterns.
kirby you mentioned in a very early video that your chopard perpetual was aqquired preowned for less than ten k. could i please have the name of the website you aqquired it from and how did you authenticate it. thank you and love from montreal.
Before finding this channnel i had lost interest in mens fashion...gotta say that's gone a full 180 and now I wish I could afford to do even a fraction of this
I would be stunned if they would not do that. It is part of the tailor's craft to be able to make clothes that will fit and flatter the body type of any unique client. It is one of the things that distinguishes bespoke tailoring from ready to wear and even made-to-measure clothing.
How does one become a tailor these days? Is it still through an apprenticeship or are there vocational schools? If I could go back and change careers, I'd choose this path.
Apprenticeship. There is a savile row school which costs 20k for non uk citizens, then theres sewing courses around the UK. Tailoring is either going to be a self taught thing, or something you learn of your parents. luckily you hace the internet at your hands. I have considered tailoring and still do, a little put off by jackets and coats, theyre so hard to make.
For some reason it makes me happy seeing more and more younger people in that workshop every time you come back to it. The craft goes on.
Arts and crafts are immortal, its the whole reason we all alive.

Gotta be honest, I’m quite envious of Kirby having all these clothes made.😂
Aren't we all? But at least we get to see the amazing work that goes into these clothes.
i‘m not envious about the amount of money he paid for all his clothes though

Amsr, his voice is so special. Imagine 40 years just making shirts. But its more than that its handlinf clients wnd getting lifetime loyalty
You are in the safe hands of master craftsmen; worth every penny.
Great video. Nice to see George Atanasias (ex Turnbull & Asser) in the background during some of the shots. He made a superb pattern for me at T&A.
That was pretty cool seeing the stack of collars.
I love the older guy's Alan Rickman/Snape voice so much
The knowledge in this video is incredible.

About halfway through all I noticed was the massive bakery behind suyamba… she’s fantastic in every way

I'm excited for the finished product. He's great. You've acquired great friends Kirby.
I was just beginning to wonder, has Kirby ever gotten a shirt made from Kent Haste and Lachter? Surprised when I saw this in my notifications!
Are you being sarcastic lololol

You can alter collar height with MTM as well.

Alumo Zephir Soyella is lovely, probably the best shirting out there in my opinion! I prefer it in heavier weights though, around 90 gms.
I cannot wait to see the shirt!

Kirby, you should have trusted your tailor and gone with the cocktail cuffs… a little James Bond British super spy style couldn’t be bad.

enough with the monograms ! equally should have gone with cocktail cuffs - they fill the jacket sleeve better
What would be the best most attainable way for someone to do this in america? Local toggery store? god forbid mens wearhouse
He said the monogram on the cuff is a bit showy smh as opposed to the front belly/chest of the shirt. Not a fan of either.
I wonder if he had to get rotor cuff surgery cause of his rounded shoulders

Why does he measure some parts and not record them?
