I own both. I can say in my opinion the 5.2 kicked ass.. Same setup. 4.5 lift. 33 tires. This guys problem is a lot to do with tires. I run Nitto Grapplers and have not had this issue.
That XJ had bigger tires and bigger lift also had front and rear lockers, the ZJ had smaller tyres smaller lift and no lockers course the XJ was going to come out on top.
Na, guys the Zj's suck. the key is they have cv axles & the Xj has u-joint axles way stronger & that ( 4.0) is a lower geared, then that zj, I've got a xj 5 speed, I haven't been beat yet. I've got a 4 inch compten lift kit. 31x10 /50's Micky Tompkins Baja. I've beat down a few zj's & yj's even a Mj,
4.0 will always be the best. But it would have helped if they countinued slowly and kept their traction, instead they floored it. lockers of course would also help, on both. But i still prefer 4.0 and XJs.
I personally prefer the 4.0, but I think what it comes down to is driver skill and ability.
XJ 14 IS MORE BETTER THAN ZJ trust me....i am off roader from tropical country.
