I have this saying: A crowd of people are demonstrating outside a US embassy chanting “ down with imperialist, war mongering America.” The American ambassador comes out onto a balcony shouting “who wants a green card?” The crowd roars “we do, we do!”
That's a tragic start to the New Year, two unfortunate events to the start of the New Year, one being the Bangkok Hotel Fire (which is in community post) and the other is this. It's a tragic event with the beginning of the New Year. Great video, the reaction videos of chinese reacting to a certain event on Wechat is awesome. Its considered to be one of my favorite videos from Mr.Chopsticks. To be honest, I like all of Mr.chopsticks videos. Videos like this one gives not just to the reaction that people in China has on events happening in China and around the world, it lets us to have a better understanding with the comments and sees on the way and reaction they have on certain news and events. No matter where such events happen in any part of the world, its all very tragic RIP to the victims, may they rest in peace
The influx of vloggers and influencers heading to China keeps growing. Recently, a famous UA-camr called "Small Braindead America," known for his sarcastic and satirical takes everywhere he goes (especially in India), has also been visiting China. I think this could be an interesting topic for you to look into maybe even expose whether some of these influencers are pushing propaganda or not
@@chopsticksandtrains Yeah, you should watch it and create content about it to explain whether he is a genuine visitor or just another paid shill. As a reference, he used to mock or joke about strange subtitles, or perhaps he is slightly braindead, as his channel name suggests
@@reaktii I saw a bit of one of his vids, and he was out, drunk and acting silly... that's just not my kinda content. As much as I love traveling, there aren't many travel vloggers that I can watch these days. It's a sad state of affairs.
@@chopsticksandtrains the first bite about out, drunk and acting silly reminds me of someone who does the exact same thing, only that person got a lot of attention for it and likes to repeat this when he is traveling to other countries. Its ok if different people have different preferences on travel content, the type of content that a person have on internet may not always be suiting to your preference.
Sounds like pretty generic comments that could come from anywhere. Some positive, some joking, some ignorant, etc. And I would add that 20 likes on a comment doesn’t indicate group consensus on anything. Responses could be different in the next community. As for whether America is safe, my very good friends in Long Island constantly remark that NYC is very unsafe and “how could you ride the subway??” My kids have been riding the subway to school by themselves since they were 12 🤷♂️. And we’ve lived in NyC for the last 40-50 years. Could it be safer? Of course! Is it unlivable like they think it is, even though they are only 5 miles away? 😂 As I said, these comments seem pretty generic and could’ve come from literally anywhere in the world. But it’s pretty cool to hear what SOME chinese have to say about America. And as former law enforcement, we need to find the REASON why these things happen. Or else they’ll keep happening. And I’m sure they will, as America has no shortage of mass murders at any given time. (Probably China as well, but we won’t know the full extent) Kids don’t shoot their classmates for no reason. Usually. Educated middle class people don’t fly planes into buildings for no reason. We need to address the underlying issues. Otherwise, it’s like Israel vs Palestine for 3000 years and going, back and forth, back and forth.
the US has plenty of issues, and they get more attention than any other country’s issues. this video was to show viewers the reactions of some mainland Chinese. while they might seem generic, as a person who has been reading Chinese comments on videos for well over 10 years, these are par for the course. they’re quite normal and commonly seen comments amongst Chinese netizens. I’ll never forget the level of happiness and celebrating at the events on Sept 11, 2001. it was hurtful to read, but it’s better to know how people really feel than living in ignorance or living a lie. thanks for watching/commenting!
@ Agreed. All countries can use some criticism. I just hope it doesn’t end up being generalizations and stereotypes. Like my friends (who live 5 miles away in very similar surroundings as NYC) who look at another mugging in NYC and say “look! See? NYC is unlivable! How can you live there??” (Umm…you have muggings in your town too…per capita you have more muggings than my area of NYC)
@@kevinsun0711 Bot comments are usually kinda generic and easy to spot. These are all tied to Chinese people and their ID cards, plus the way they are written, the joking, the appropriate responses to jokes, the sarcasm... These are human comments my friend.
@troll-nj2by Yes, but these comments mesh with what I've seen from other Chinese comments sections. Seems like typical Chinese netizen comments. I've seen this kinda stuff for years now. The sarcasm, the mocking of 'freedom' when bad things happen, as a way to say that their system is superior, etc. Not bot-like... just typical comments. I think it is important for people here in western countries to know what actually goes on in the society over there, since they claim towards us from the official site to be the perfect harmonic and peaceful society. If someone begins to hate Chinese people for that, it just means that this specific person has the same problem as those persons writing such comments. Maybe Mr. Chopsticks, if you read this, you could add an appeal to the viewers not to take any of this personally in these videos and why it doesn't make sense to do so. Maybe you can spread a little bit of peace besides the reality by that...just a thought.
It doesn't cause me to hate Chinese people, if that's what you mean. I'm grateful for the sympathetic comment and sorry for the comment that showed an us-versus-them attitude. It seems like a similar spread of different sentiments that I've probably seen in online comments from fellow Americans about events in other countries.
@@erutuon Yeah, there are a ton of people in any country hating on other countries. Also in Europe where I am, I feel like it has become a trend to blame the USA for anything. I mean it is still not as common as it is in China, from what I can deduce from these videos, but if the majority of Western governments keep not taking action anything against those russian desinformation campaigns, we will get there in a few years. Edit: if you are the writer of the main comment, I just want to add, that I didn't read out an US-versus-them attitude. I can totally understand your concerns. I just pointed out why these kind of videos being published actually makes a lot of sense to me.
