This lovely piece presents an interesting idea about pedaling from Grainger: use of the una corda pedal in a mezzo forte dynamic. Spot on, I think. The una corda pedal is NOT for playing very softly on the piano; it is a mute. Very different. Hamelin's performance is on a so-so instrument, and curiously, he over pedals throughout. In fact, it sounded as if this wonderful pianist were only sight-reading the piece, with deliberate rolled-chord-by-rolled-chord presentation, rather than one that flows from the piano, as if it is the instrument that is producing the music.
Hello, where did you purchase the sheet music from? Please could you send me a link or point me in the right direction, as there is a few different versions! thankyou
I believe I got the version edited by Bardic Editions (catalogue n°BDE21) which I found to be much closer to the original arrangement. You can find it here: www.musicroom.com/product-detail/product1055909/variant1055909/percy-aldridge-grainger-a-bridal-lullaby/
First heard this in Merchant-Ivory's production of Howards End. Mrs. Wilcox glide-gliding about Howards End.
Beautifully romantic, well played
Beautiful.

Why is it so hard to find this piece of music?
