    Submit yourselves,then.to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands,you sinners,and purify your hearts,you double-minded. Grieve,mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord,and He will lift you up.James4:7-10

    What is the "hip band" called? I've seen it called "boudin" but i'm not sure!
    Je suis americaine et hawaiienne mais j'aimerais beaucoup acheter un "boudin", ou le "ceinture" que vous utilisez dans ces videos haha! Mais je sais pas comment s'appellen-t-ils et ou je les pourrais acheter haha
    Merci, et beaucoup d'amour et aloha des Etats-unis! :)

      Weight band/belt in English...

    • @justiniantbh
      @justiniantbh 4 роки тому

      @@kilipaki87oritahiti Yeah, but when you look that up, you find the belts meant for heavy lifting or for weightlifting, not the tahitian belt
      It's okay though - I asked someone else local and her halau also teaches 'ori, and they're willing to make me a "boudin" - the only name that doesn't get me all the weightlifting/heavy lifting belts - for a small price haha! I suppose it's such an obscure object, it's hard to find no matter what haha
      Thank you so much for your help, though :)

      I know I'm late but FYI using weights isn't absolutely necessary to practice, it's just something in extra, if you know what I mean. :)
      Btw, as far as I know, you can't buy one online, we usually make those yourselves. If you can sew a little bit, you can cut an old shirt, t-shirt or whatever in a long large strip, then you sew the edges and one side and you fill it with sand (if sand is too light or too heavy for you, you can totally change for something else). That's how I made all my boudins. Just don't make it too tight or it will be too hard and you won't be able to put it on your hips.

    I can't help but notice the fact that we barely have a close up on the Black dancers (...) as a Black woman learning Tahitian dance myself I would want to see how they're handling fa'arapu (but maybe they didn't want to be seen on camera still I can't help to notice it)

    • @kilipaki87oritahiti
      @kilipaki87oritahiti 3 роки тому +6

      Why are you making drama where there is none? It's a class. Nor is it appropriate to only focus and zoom in on certain dancers just for the sake of their ethnicity to be politically correct or to satisfy one type of audience to not seem ''racist'', just because they don't showcase the only two black dancers in the class more than others. Especially if they don't want to be in focus. Tho it's normal to show those that are good. But as a Ori Tahiti student yourself you should already know this. There are several black students on instagram where you can see their progress better if that's your aim, tho I don't understand your logic. So if you were white, you'd only want to watch fellow white people? And if they are not in focus, it's something shady going on?
