The actor is so talented snd charming, and has always brought so much to Cassidy that I'm always happy to see him. But then Cassidy the character turns up, and I want to smack him. I can understand everyone wanting to work with the actor again, and again and again, but they didn't give themselves a lot to work with in that character.

My theory? The actor is far better a man - talented, strong, empathic and authentic - than the character as written, especially in the early days. The actor's version of Cassidy overpowers the one written, and the gap is too much to overcome. And you can't 'undercome', cos Liv wouldn't have bothered with that person.
