Not fond of that change tbh, makes DK all the more of a spoiled prick, while in the original it was both Mario and DK reacting to the other's actions, DK couldn't get a Mini Mario the clean way because they ran out by the time he reached the store, then proceeded to steal them, prompting Mario to give chase for all the stolen property while being rightfully mad about it, DK realizes he dropped everything he stole, Mario and the Toads mocked him hard, angering DK and prompted him to kidnap the Toads for laughing at him, and while Mario's mad at him for all he's done, he still worries about the fall DK had, showing he's still compassionate despite the earlier mocking, but DK just ends up running off with the Mini-Marios he found after he fell off, and once Mario finally puts an end to him, DK burst in tears as he couldn't get a toy either way, Mario then scolds him for all he's done, but ultimately ends up giving him a Mini-Mario, because he acknowledged he was legit sorry for what he did, and he also did wrong in mocking him like that after he failed the first heist, which caused things to escalate even more than it would have otherwise While in the remake, DK's just constantly doing malice far and wide after he couldn't buy a toy because they ran out of stock, refusing to give up regardless of anything, going as far as lashing onto the Toads that didn't do anything just because his heist failed and merely spotted them, and even when he was finally stopped, he's still refusing to apologize for what he did, but still gets the toy anyways with no punishment or anything, because "Mario's always nice to everyone ♥" Both had a moment of weakness and that caused trouble, which also served as parallel to the original DK in the arcade, where DK kidnapping Pauline was due to Mario being too abusive to him, one reacted to the other, while the remake only leaves DK in a negative light and Mario as saint that does no wrong, with an undeserved happy ending, if anything, the remake feels a lot as if Mario was narrating the story, and purposely skipping details to make people think he did no wrong and it was all DK xd
I've always wanted to play a Mario vs. Donkey Kong, especially the original; I'm glad it's here for a new generation now! Donkey Kong's shenanigans have always been real funny and enjoyable, but Mario's always been my favorite!!
1:49:55 in the original game they laughed at him when the bag was empty. and in this part 1:52:32 the Toads made him fall. They also left out the part where Mario asks Donkey Kong "Hey Donkey Kong, are you okay?" And in 3:10:37 Donkey Kong was crying
Considering that this is a remake of the game from 20 years ago, I can speedrun every level individually But I find it strange that there isn't a high score to fulfill before getting a star in the level That would have made for a more interesting game instead of just "get the 3 presents and you win" And worse yet, they didn't even bother to add a minigame after you get all 3 presents Stop Arrow to win your prize: An arrow appears over the presents and immediately does a roulette. Press the A button at the right time to stop the arrow over the present you want (Miss, 1-Up 2-Up, 3-Up, 5-Up) Swap Boxes to save your prize: Donkey Kong's fist is eager to crush your presents. Have Donkey Kong's fist crush the presents you don't want. Move Mario left and right and press the A button repeatedly to swap the presents. The one left standing is the one you get.
In the future, I kinda get why they removed these things The score system was kinda flawed. Very difficult to usually get a star depending on level and skill level of the person playing And lives were kinda unnecessary for a puzzle game in reality. They've remade the game for more modern audiences, and they remade the systems to fit better with the skills of the target audience, something the original kinda failed to do
But after playing the original and getting 100% completion (90 stars), I realized that I could use faster strategies such as backflipping instead of triple handstand jumping (saves at least a second on the clock). And in Level 1-2, I broke the high score of 28000 by getting over 50000. Keep in mind that hammers don't respawn in the original, and the score you get from each enemy you defeat with the hammer (starting from 300) doubles with each successive enemy. Defeating 6 enemies with 1 hammer will net you a total of 18900 points (300 + 600 + 1200 + 2400 + 4800 + 9600), and considering time on the clock x100 gets added to your score in addition to the base 10000 points you get by collecting all 3 presents? That just opened the floodgates.

This remake looks amazing! I love that they kept all the little animations like Donkey Kong peering out the keyhole from the original on GBA. Team Mario!
I’ll miss the score based challenge from the original, but this is a good remake and it’s much more simple to complete. Even the Plus Worlds are easier to complete without worrying about score. I like the 2 new worlds they added and their respective Expert levels too.
I’m getting the game on Monday-as a belated Valentine’s Day gift to myself! I downloaded and played the demo from the eShop on a lark-and I had such fun with it, I told myself, you gotta get the full game!
I am Team Mario as Mario games such as Galaxy 1 & 2, 3d land, New Soup Wii, and Mario Kart Wii were a huge part of my childhood. I fondly remember playing these games with my family, in particular me and my older brother spent the summer with Galaxy 1. Great times! I love the Donkey Kong Country games a lot too, but they can't compete for those precious memories 😊
The Mini Mario toys are adorable, and I totally see why DK wanted to get one! It’s so sweet and cute to see Mario give DK a Mini Mario at the very end 🥰
I'm on Team Mario. I've supported Mr. Video Game himself ever since my first adventure with him in New Super Mario Bros., and he's never failed to impress.
Team Mario for sure! March of the Minis was my favorite game from this spin off series! So many fun times as a child playing that game when I was supposed to be sleeping! 😭💀😭
Normally, there's scores. And you get a star if you collect all gifts, beat the level hi score. But in this remake there's no scores. Just collecting gifts. So I'm still happy for that.
Nah that kinda sucks. Where's the challenge ? You don't have to get that star, but if you wanted it in the original, you had to work for it. I can proudly say I got all the stars in every level of the original and now I'm tackling the expert levels. It was not easy to get them all, but I'm really happy I managed to do it. Now the people who play this game won't be able to feel that feeling of accomplishement.
@@Okeana_Aster another thing this game is way too easy they made no fall damage you can just speed through levels . The OG made it feel like you were climbing high and every jump mattered . Everything else is great thoe
@@Fancycent Wait really ? Oh actually I think I did notice that. If you fall from too high you just have the normal knocked out animation and invincibility frames instead of Mario falling on his head an dying, right ? That sucks.
@@Okeana_AsterNah that doesn't suck at all. Uh, "where's the challenge?" The challenge is getting all the gifts and getting the star what are you talking about. You still have to work for the Star in the remake to get it, what're you talking about "in the original you had to work for it" as if you don't in the remake. Yes you do, especially in the expert levels. And I can proudly say I got all the stars in every level of the original and the remake and in both they were not easy to do. Both games made it challenging yet satisfying to get the stars, "now people who play this game won't be able to feel that feeling of accomplishment" that is a giant pile of bullshit and you know it. Stop lying through your teeth in an attempt to make the remake sound worse than the original. Everyone will feel that feeling of accomplishment just as they did in the og from getting the stars, there's still challenge to getting them. And removing fall damage doesn't "suck" at all what? It was always kinda stupid and unnecessary and with this game's time attack mode you're encouraged to go fast which means not being afraid to fall from very high. Imagine complaining about not dying lol.
@@NickMario1As much as I grew up with original, it makes sense why Nintendo changed stuff like not have Mario be a jerk Mario is supposed to be a good role model Just stinks we're never gonna get the uncompressed voice lines
@@ZonalJump97How is Mario a jerk in the original ? Okay he kinda mocks him, but they were rivals at the time, it makes sense. And he was still a nice role model. After defeating DK the first time, the first he says is "Hey, Donkey Kong, are you okay ?" He makes sure he's fine, which they removed from this version for some reason. And he still gives him the Mini Mario at the end. He defeated his rival and stopped him from commiting theft, but he also made sure he was okay after that, and in the end he forgave him and gave him a Mini Mario. Care, forgiveness and kindness despite their rivalry, how is Mario not a good role model ?
@@Okeana_AsterHe's a jerk in the original because he mocks him along with everyone else and despite asking if he's okay, (which is totally fine that they removed it from the remake, but not surprised you of all people would be whining about that) he still made no effort to help him up from hanging onto the building or stop the Toads from stepping on his fingers to make him fall. He was portrayed better in the remake.

If I was ever given a choice, I would sign up for Team Mario. His work ethic is amazing. Most of Mario's jobs are sports related. That man is a Jack of all trades.
This game looks really fun! The only experience I’ve got with Mario and DK games is the old school arcade games, and this seems like a hallmark of Nintendo’s success over the years. I’ll be going with team Mario!
I feel like DK crying over not getting some toys feels so out of character and childish for him anyways. I’m glad they were still able to convey Mario being sweet and nice without making DK looks like a baby manchild.
This game is a lot more "clean" but with a lot less charm than the original. Like, after the first "final boss", in the original, the Toads actually stomp DK's hand to make him fall, and in the cutscene that follows the credits, Mario is seen going down a small elevator and asking "Hey, Donkey Kong, are you okay ?" This is completely absent here. And when DK grabs the Minis he actually goes "Hey, stop ! Come back ! Not again !" I don't know why they couldn't just add at least the "not again !" in the remake as well. Also in the very first cutscene of the original, there's no "Hey, stop !". Mario actually says "Hey ! What are you doing ? What's-a going on, here ? *to DK* No you don't, no you don't... *DK runs away* Oh you mama mia- *speaks italian gibberish* In the cutscene before both final bosses, Mario and the Toads actually mocked DK and were laughing at him too. In the final cutscene, DK was crying, and Mario said "Hey, it's okay... Don't-a cry. Here, you like ? It's a Mini Mario !" The fact that they used the "Hey, it's okay" part of the original line show that they do have the original lines. A lot of the enemies' sound effects are different or even just gone. I really liked the Bob-Ombs funny sounds, but now they just beep when they're about to explode. And in the Plus levels, when Mario brought a Mini to a door, he used to say "Good job, little guy !" Now there's just nothing. And as somebody else in this comment section pointed out, in the final credits of the original, Charles Martinet thanked the people who worked on the game in Mario's voice. Now there's nothing. And I just mentioned the big changes, there are a lot of other little changes in terms of voices and sound effects that they made that remove some of the original's charm. I don't know where to put this but obviously another big change was DK'S voice. Surely they must still have the original voices somewhere since they still have Mario's. Oh also I'm pretty sure the enemies weren't toys in the original but actual living enemies. I love the game, but I still have my copy of the original, so I might just stick to that version of the game which has a lot more charm. Also that way I don't have to spend 60 bucks that could be used for something else.
wait this game is 60 bucks?? I mean, this game looks cool so far (I'm like 5 minutes into the video) but there is no way this game could be worth 60 bucks-
@@KSKY2012 I don't know how much it is exactly, but Nintendo tends to make even their remakes full price. Okay no it's 50 but still. I'm not spending 50 on that.
@@chrange9714 Oh leave me alone ! You made your point clear, now stop replying whenever you see me. But even outside of the cutscenes and dialogue, they removed the score system and fall damage. This remake is a lot less interesting. I don't need to play that.

Sorry but this game really angers me
Rayquaza is a bombastic fellow.
@@rachaeljoyce Why? I also do not like the game that much.
i am going to say team Donkey Kong because there’s no game without a villain!! thank you for all your hard work on this channel it really shows :)
This remake looks amazing! I love that they kept all the little animations like Donkey Kong peering out the keyhole from the original on GBA. Team Mario!
I remember I play Mario vs. Donkey Kong on the GBA years ago! So classic! I love it and the remake, too!
Team Mario! LET'S-A GO!😄
So this Is A Remake of the OG Game... How cool i love remakes.
Never played the original so looking forward to picking this up one day! Team DK all the way!
Extremely underrated game and I’m happy to see a remake!!
Really hope I win the giveaway!
Team Mario all the way!!
Edit: GG!
I’ll miss the score based challenge from the original, but this is a good remake and it’s much more simple to complete. Even the Plus Worlds are easier to complete without worrying about score.
I like the 2 new worlds they added and their respective Expert levels too.
I got the game a day early! Got it as a surprise gift for my brother, so he can relieve his childhood game again on HD and fully redesigned
I’m getting the game on Monday-as a belated Valentine’s Day gift to myself!
I downloaded and played the demo from the eShop on a lark-and I had such fun with it, I told myself, you gotta get the full game!
And also, Mario giving Donkey Kong the Mario toy even though he stole all of them is just adorable.
Thanks you for playing!
I'm team Mario and so is my nephew. We both love your videos and he's been waiting for this one
I’m team Mario as well
Team Mario! Thanks for the contest!
Awesome gameplay dude, and this whole remake looks fantastic.
thank god for walkthroughs; they truly are the best
team mario for sure, i never played this one but i played the mini mario game that was on the ds, very fond childhood memory of mine :)
Nice walkthrough! 🌟
I love Charles Martinet as Mario he’s the best
The Mini Mario toys are adorable, and I totally see why DK wanted to get one! It’s so sweet and cute to see Mario give DK a Mini Mario at the very end 🥰
Hang on, I thought Mario’s old voice actor stopped as a voice actor. Maybe they reused some of Mario’s old voice lines.
Reused them yeah.
They used my voice
@@AngryMiddleAgedMan No, they used Chuck Norris' voice. Chuck Norris is the best voice actor in the world.
One of Videogames First And Greatest Rivalries💯💯💯💯‼️‼️‼️‼️ This is tough, but I'm going Team Mario✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Nice video!. I would be on Team Mario because Mario is a heroic and awesome guy who always helps out anyone in need.
I’m definitely on Team Mario. Can’t go wrong with the iconic plumber.😎
I like how most of the enemies in this game are also toys likely made in the same factory as the Mini Marios.
Man the cutscenes are so well-animated, it's like seeing your favorite kids' show.
That sucks.
Yeah, I think I'm just going to play the original instead then
@@Okeana_AsterNah that doesn't suck at all.
Gotta love Donkey Kong's love for "mama mia' toys.
honestly this is a fun game, i like puzzle games, and this calls my puzzle spirit
Mario vs Donkey Kong is Awesome Nintendo is Remaking a Game!
The cutscenes and music were not at all what I were expecting, but I suppose not everything has to be exactly the same but with new animation.
Is that a good thing
@@NickMario1As much as I grew up with original, it makes sense why Nintendo changed stuff like not have Mario be a jerk
Mario is supposed to be a good role model
Just stinks we're never gonna get the uncompressed voice lines
Team Mario. Can’t just steal a bunch of toys from the manufacturer if they’re sold out locally. They’ll be back in stock soon! Thanks for the free game, and may the best comment win.
Team Mario. He's #1! I miss Charles Martinet, but I love Kevin Afgani's voice.
Kevin Afgani’s Mario impression kinda sounds the same as Charles Martinet’s Mario impression to me
It looks like a very fun game, I think I’m on team Mario but I also get why Donkey Kong stole Mario merch, cause Mario merch is the best!!! Love your videos!!!!
TEAM MARIO!
I have never actually been able to play this game buy am a massive Mario fan and have been all my life and would love to be able to play it some day!
Excluding the Fair and Snow level it's exactly how I remembered I just wish they kept the Presents mini games, but at least they had the balls to keep the strangling bats
OH YEAH!!!! Good old rivalry! Way better than Mario vs bowser
Yeah, this is the OG rivalry. Before Bowser, there was Donkey Kong. Before Princess Peach, there was Pauline :-)
Wow master!!! And the new levels too 😮
3:10:48, that's so nice, don't u think?
Team Mario for life!! Love the remade music and that they reused some Charle’s voice clips from past Mario titles!
I really love how you always have a full game walkthrough b4 the game drops🤩 So I already know where to come for all the tips & tricks to beat the games☺️ Thank you for a great channel 😎
I would love to get this game! I'm gonna try to win this BeardBear. I love the game! It looks soooo good. I love watching your videos because they are super COOL and AWSOME! I hope to win! I Liked and Subscribed! Also, team Super Mario! I'm on team Mario because he's SUPER! Let's a go! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I mean, sure, I too want a mini mario but I would not steal one!
Also I love hearing Charles Martinet's voice line uncompressed, and I wish him the best!
At 3:10:52 when the Mini Mario toy said to Donkey Kong Ima lovea you I actually almost cried
In the original GBA game Donkey Kong was crying after getting defeated in the cutscene
I love how Mario, being so generous, gives my favorite, Donkey Kong one of the toys, despite DK stealing them! It's very wholesome!
LOVE these! Thanks 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Team Mario my dude. Also damn you worked fast on this.
Thank you, charles Martinet
Never thought this game would get a remaster, but here we are ig lol. Team Mario all the way!
This game is so cute and charming! Love the real Mario, but I probably love Mini Mario more! Hope that Nintendo releases a real version of Mini Mario in the near future.
Meh, sorry Yami Yugi, but the Mini Marios annoy me somewhat. They are ok, I guess. I prefer the real Mario, lol.
Team Mario for sure! He looks quite nice in this game😂
Ah yes the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series 🗿👌😎👍 Now 100% run on it 😍💀
Thanks for the walkthrough!
Oh I can’t wait to play this soon with my Dad! He loves dk
Im thinking about buying this game tonight on Nintendo eShop.
7:29: Bonus Stage
Gotta go with Team DK! Who can blame him for wanting those mini Mario toys? They’re too cute!! In a way, this is exactly how people are at the holidays when buying up the toys. 😂😂😂
I'm totally team DK and why would you ask, well it's bc donkey is always so enthousiastic fsr and i love that. He's a friend and he's an enemy, basically a mystery💁🏻♂️
absolutely agreed
mario: ah what an nice day toads : ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
donkey Kong: yes all are mine! mario: hey! donkey Kong: oh no its mario i better run!
mario: hey stop come back!
Team Mario, for sure! Can’t wait for the others in the series to get updated. I want a mini-Peach!
Team mario💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Mario just builds a toy company and it gets destroyed? Poor dude
Also your gameplay is insane
If I was ever given a choice, I would sign up for Team Mario. His work ethic is amazing. Most of Mario's jobs are sports related. That man is a Jack of all trades.
I've always been intrigued by this game, but never had the chance to play it. Team DK all the way!
Gotta buy them all
This game looks really fun! The only experience I’ve got with Mario and DK games is the old school arcade games, and this seems like a hallmark of Nintendo’s success over the years. I’ll be going with team Mario!
He didn't cry this time.
I feel like DK crying over not getting some toys feels so out of character and childish for him anyways. I’m glad they were still able to convey Mario being sweet and nice without making DK looks like a baby manchild.
@@Rediscool9 That's true
Hello. Very good video. Anyways I am in the DK team
*DK runs away* Oh you mama mia- *speaks italian gibberish*
In the cutscene before both final bosses, Mario and the Toads actually mocked DK and were laughing at him too.
@@Okeana_Aster yeah I agree, 50 bucks is still really expensive
@@Okeana_AsterSo you didn't even play it and you're bitching about it? Wow, you are hella biased for the original and it painfully shows.
@@chrange9714 Oh leave me alone ! You made your point clear, now stop replying whenever you see me.
But even outside of the cutscenes and dialogue, they removed the score system and fall damage. This remake is a lot less interesting. I don't need to play that.
I've wanted this game for a while! I loved the Demo! I am team Mario!
