We rented for so many years, and we always improved it to make ourselves comfortable. At our own expense. We always left the home better than we found it. It is only now, in our senior years that we have been gifted a beautiful home by our son.
My son and I rented for from the time he was 7mths to 22yrs old - at which time he moved into his own house - we had to move every 2 - 3 yrs, due to rent increases , or house sale. The houses were always a filthy horror story wich friends and family would beg me not to take. I always maintained that it is always what you make of it. I would scrub the house and do repairs, clean up the garden and retic. Owners were always somewhat shocked and pleased, not enough to drop the rent though! They would then start raising the rent on me, and the rent for the new tenant would be half as much again. I never once had an owner come to me and thank me for what I and my son had done for them. I don’t mean I expected it, but they never acknowledged any of the hard work or cost that went into it. Everyone used to say that they wouldn’t bother as it’s not theirs, I always said that we have to live there so make it comfortable for us, which we did. I always felt proud to leave a house in better condition than others left it to me.
These were always my parents sentiments, and then mine. My son rented a home from a friend, and we lived there about ten years and the rent never changed. I completely painted three-fourths of the interior just before we moved. I believe they made a good profit then.
I did the same to my apartment in Shanghai. It was owned by my company, so I didn’t have to pay rent, so I refurbished the place. I even painted my entry gate and fire doors, all my neighbours loved the fresh look. The kitchen was the hardest, as so much build up grease.. It cost me about RMB10k which in Shanghai is the average salary a month a local. Amen for IKEA.
I love the marble flooring and the Tiffany skylight. Did she make those glass cabinets herself. Boy that kitchen gas stove is is restored to a very very expensive one. Even the baseboards are the real expensive kind. And the did all this with a little soap and water. She really is a genius!
As a long time renter, then after brief home ownership and all the headaches that came with it, I decided renting is not so bad at retirement. And I live somewhere that they really don’t mind what I do. I live in a long narrow studio. One room. Twin bed at one end with a small sitting area. The other end has a very tiny small galley kitchen with a dorm sized fridge and a stove literally avocado green from the 1960’s. It still works at present though I think at some point the very stiff looking wires look sort of fragile. It will either need rewired or a new stove. I have a small restroom shower in a separate room. I am on the side of the landlords really dirty dusty garage and have to enter through the garage. So very easy to track in dirt, but I just sweep and mop daily and make sure a bit of apartment is dusted down each day do the entire thing is dusted and cleaned once a week. In the middle section of the studio is my huge quilting table sitting along one wall, with storage metal shelving beside it. On opposite wall is a sort of little art studio, also along the wall. I have one small window, mostly taken up by the air conditioning unit. I also have a small backyard. Where I have planted flowers and vegetables and a bit of seating. I will work on it slowly and make it my own.
I think something was lost in translation, she would have had to bought a run down apartment because no one would ever spend the money she has, not to mention time and effort to line a landlords pocket. She could be a house flipper for all we know or just a project of her own to live in.
Good job realize not everyone has the ability or know how or some have physical limitations to do that much work, some people are doing there best if they can do 4 to 10 tasks a day,not everyone is the same
When my son bought his house, we took so many layers of wallpaper off the dining room walls, we accidentally took some of the paper off the drywall. We just textured the walls and they looked great.
I like the color blue better than the green. But if is rented place all the work and effort to make it look good is just for you or how many people will be moving in with you.
Be careful I improved my rental so much my landlord took it back to raise the rent sky high. His family tore it up, I re did hardwood floors, painted, wall papered one wall in bedrooms, mirrored my front room wall and painted. New carpets etc.
People are so lazy these days all they know is to complain about everything but too lazy to do something about it 😂😅 just because your paying rent doesn't mean you shouldn't keep y'all places clean
I did that, for years I sacrificed so I can have a completely new flat. After years of hard work I proudly sat down and thought I made it.Until the owner who didn't recognise the place decided to
3 Months Later: Landlord: Knock Knock! Tenant: Who's there? Landlord: The Landlord! Tenant: Please come in. Landlord: This is a surprise inspection. Ten minutes Later: Landlord: I must inform you, the rent has been increased to $2,000 per month effective immediately! 😆
What a hard working woman she is , all the time and work she has put into this place has paid off as it is so pretty now !!

Good for y'all and Bless your son. He had some great parents.

I don’t think that place was ever cleaned before she got in there and did her magic on the place!
Every mom needs a son like him. It's all in the raising
Well done! I didn't want this video to end! Thank you.

She is so efficient at doing this. It's as if she does it for a living!
She probably does a lot of Make Readies for new tenants.

Beautiful! The only that bothers me greatly is curtains behind the stove. Yikes!!!
She worked so hard. Great job!good for you. You are to be congratulated!
Very classy!❤

In China, the landlord is not going to care if you improve the place.. only if you damage it.
@@Ree-b Well no they wouldn't since it is adding value to the property costing them nothing and getting rent! Bonus!

I like the color blue better than the green. But if is rented place all the work and effort to make it look good is just for you or how many people will be moving in with you.
Why on earth would that matter? It's her place and she hated the blue and loved the light green so she made herself happy in HER new place.
Great job, but I really wish she’d painted the woodwork white 🙂
Be careful I improved my rental so much my landlord took it back to raise the rent sky high. His family tore it up, I re did hardwood floors, painted, wall papered one wall in bedrooms, mirrored my front room wall and painted. New carpets etc.
Vraiment géniale pour avoir transformer ce taudis en un bel appartement. I like.❤❤❤❤ from Morroco.

I thought the floors were better if they were left alone. I agree it’s going to be a nightmare when that paint wears and starts to come off.

Wonderful transformation! Why do you wear masks?
Because she is cutting wood, sanding plaster etc - H&S
We always clean from top to bottom

If that was going to happen she probably wouldn't be doing this.
She probably signed a contract.
