Or, it simply means that the fan/ vent is saturated by all the hot air inside the console, without being able to move it out efficiently (it reached its peak performance). Each fan is rated by its capacity to move air, and once you reach that capacity than it is time to add another one, or to improve cooling system in different way. Removing significant chunk of a heatsink from an enclosed environment, such as ps5 is, without adding/ improving air circulation is a poor design/ cash grabber decision. Simple as that.

is it normal for my ps5 to heat the discs while playing? Because when i take out the disc is not that hot but is like you are getting something out from the microwave for like 30 secs
Wait, you're measuring the temperature coming straight from the back?? You need to measure the temperature of the individual components. If the exhaust temperature is higher than before, it's a good sign that more heat is being removed from the system itself, therefore the components are cooler than before.
Actually you can reasonably deduct that the core temps got to be higher. Nobody made any statements about actual degrees. But the new model will be hotter. The cooler has less surface area, meaning less capacity to dissipate heat. You'd have to increase the airflow to combat this, but then the exhaust temp would be lower, as the same amount of generated heat would be spread out over a larger volume of air. This is not the case, thus the SoC temps got to be higher. Don't always try to complicate things. Smaller cooler = hotter chip. He never said the SoC is as much hotter as the exhaust air or something. If he did, you'd be right to call him out on it. But the simple assertion that the chip will be hotter, by however much, can be safely made.

Also, I don't know why after markets don't just sell whole different shells for those that want to re-house the internals. That's probably a better bet, though for the more capable of course.

Gamers Nexus/Digital Foundry released videos. New cooler has SOC run a few degrees warmer, but functionally the systems run identical. As someone who works in semiconductors I can tell you a 4 degree difference between 67 and 71C won’t affect lifetime.

The purpose of a heat sink is to get the heat OUT of something and INTO something else. Heat never just "goes away", that's not how physics work. Step 1: Get the heat out of the component. Step 2: Get it away and out. Measuring the exhaust and seeing it a few C higher and concluding that means the heatsink is worse, is wrong. Do you want an ACCURATE and REAL and MEANINGFUL measurement? Then meassure what the chips are reporting, ideally with a temperature probe. THEN you can say if the heatsink is worse or not. A higher temperature at the exhaust in fact suggests a BETTER heat sink, because it has removed more from a component, then dissipating it into the air with the fins, leading to a higher temp beause its more efficient.
Brrooo u actually open my eyes . You literally threw some real good logic on this guy's face . He is just checking everything from above and concluding anything. He is the reason for the start of the controversy.
@@NaushadAlam-qr7tx A passive cooler is only more efficient with good air intake and exhaust. The PS5 doesn't have that, so in the end it's just more heat building up inside the console. This redesign is definitely worse.
He's not even looking at the design of each cooler. When you look closely, the heatpipes are different. Sony seems to have redesigned it in a way so it dissipates more heat hence the hotter air exhausting from it. When he said "high quality technical analysis" I just lost it because his content is like watching infomercials lol Nothing very technical about it.
Did some rough calculations using the video, and obviously the measurements aren't to full scale, but give a decent representation, and the basic premise. OG Left Heatsink Area = 3200mm New Left Heatsink Area = 2300mm OG Middle Heatsink Area = 1275mm (Basically I split up that large chunk into 2, so it makes 3 lines like the new one) New Middle Heatsink Area = 1350mm OG Center Heatsink Area = 1440mm New Center Heatsink Area = 480mm Total OG Heatsink Area = 5915mm Total New Heatsink Area = 4130mm New Heatsink has roughly 30% less heatsink New Left Heatsink if made same width as OG = 3100mm Resulting in only 17% less Heatsink and possibly a more streamlined flow path for the fan, since there's not just one huge chunk of restriction like the OG The divided left, middle, and center heatsinks on the original might not be too stupid, as the air can flow better with the length changes, but just by slightly thickening the left heatsink, I think it would have the temps roughly around the same as the OG, and possibly be even quieter. You may point out the missing copper plate, but I don't think it really a whole lot, other than slightly spread out the heat more evenly, but it's still a plate, which is pretty inefficient for a fan to cool, compared to thin fins. (I won't, and do not consider myself 100% accurate on this study, but can conclude that the figured out percentages "should" be within a few percentage of the real deal)
Couple people mentioning higher exhaust temps COULD mean the cooler is doing a better job dissipating heat. The thing is, Sony removed a SIZABLE amount of the heatsink on this new model. With fewer fins and smaller heatpipes it simply isn't as efficient at moving the heat out of the console.
Think about it as if it were a PC. If I remove a large CPU heatsink in favor of a smaller one the exhaust coming off my system would be hotter as the overall system temps are higher since the weaker cooler can't cope. That's exactly what's going on here IMO.

So this is the end result of clickbaiting and being purposefully cheeky. Hope it was worth it 😅
Basically.
Austin Evans is pathetic.
You clicked on the video so he made money from this
@Attack Me wow. The honour of being called a loser forever. Sure hope it whas worth it. How can anyone take this clow serious in the future.
can't wait for the dream-like austin evan/mr whose the boss fans to doxx you
They are probably using a combo Bluetooth/WiFi module that shares antennae for both, which sucks.
I'm sure they tested if it's problematic during multiplayer.
Why does it suck

Just buy a 20ft cable and plug your controller in if you're so concerned.
Hey buddy. Delete this video. More reports are showing that the new ps5 is running 11 celcius cooler on the cpu.
You made a mistake. It happens
That was a deliberate mistake mate.
@@angeloangibeau5814 Microsoft probably sent him the New Ps5 🤣🤣
is it normal for my ps5 to heat the discs while playing? Because when i take out the disc is not that hot but is like you are getting something out from the microwave for like 30 secs
Wait, you're measuring the temperature coming straight from the back?? You need to measure the temperature of the individual components. If the exhaust temperature is higher than before, it's a good sign that more heat is being removed from the system itself, therefore the components are cooler than before.
Well
No.
It could also mean that the parts are way hotter. You can't tell without knowing the core temps...
@@namelessmusik4345 Cool, you just told us you don't understand the basic laws of thermal dynamics.
@@TheGoncas2 you realy think more heat coming out means better cooling? Thats simply bullshit.

It sucks cuz you cant get the original PS5 and now scalpers will bump that prices more because of bigger heatsink. FUCK
I don't have a ps5 and i don't hate this video ^_^
@caleb weaver well this is the silver lining for me and my mum. we live in backwater hell and though we are renting to own ours we have the bigger heat sink >_< since we game alot those extra degrees will make a huge difference in longevity.
This is perfect for aftermarket companies to sell coolers with giant fans that make a ton of noise and drop temps back down to the launch edition temps
Lol! Yeah. And what's funny is like every after market product in the PS4 generation literally didn't improve cooling/noise either. Will probably be the same this time. I'm still waiting for PS5 Slim and PS5 VR 😊👍
Also, I don't know why after markets don't just sell whole different shells for those that want to re-house the internals. That's probably a better bet, though for the more capable of course.
It's just poor compared to MS and the Series X. Just shocking from Sony really.
@Hoorad Moadabi no it isn't. It has the exact same compute parts.

He can't. He's lying on Xbox behalf. Pretty scummy
It's an inferior cooling solution so it's technically worse but I think they will both run perfectly fine

Gamers Nexus/Digital Foundry released videos. New cooler has SOC run a few degrees warmer, but functionally the systems run identical.
As someone who works in semiconductors I can tell you a 4 degree difference between 67 and 71C won’t affect lifetime.

@@yourheroes5874 ah I see you are one of those...
Lol

My PS5 is whisper quiet and cold to the touch...because I'm too busy on my Xbox Series X and I never turn on my PS5
lmao
Did some rough calculations using the video, and obviously the measurements aren't to full scale, but give a decent representation, and the basic premise.
OG Left Heatsink Area = 3200mm
New Left Heatsink Area = 2300mm
OG Middle Heatsink Area = 1275mm (Basically I split up that large chunk into 2, so it makes 3 lines like the new one)
New Middle Heatsink Area = 1350mm
OG Center Heatsink Area = 1440mm
New Center Heatsink Area = 480mm
Total OG Heatsink Area = 5915mm
Total New Heatsink Area = 4130mm
New Heatsink has roughly 30% less heatsink
New Left Heatsink if made same width as OG = 3100mm
Resulting in only 17% less Heatsink and possibly a more streamlined flow path for the fan, since there's not just one huge chunk of restriction like the OG
The divided left, middle, and center heatsinks on the original might not be too stupid, as the air can flow better with the length changes, but just by slightly thickening the left heatsink, I think it would have the temps roughly around the same as the OG, and possibly be even quieter.
