When a guy comes in trying to be all close talking to my parents and ish. 🚩 MAJOR RED FLAG! He was trying to get your mom on his side so that he would have someone in your life influencing you to believe that he’s that guy! I see abusers do this often.

I realize that in hindsight. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing. But I’m so thankful I got a mom who keeps it real and keeps me in prayer. She told that man EXACTLY what he was dealing with lol and he still pushed forward like a dummy 😭

When I was dating I never asked out right “what do you make?” What I did ask was what he did for a living. Living in NYC it was pretty easy to figure out what their salary was based on their position. In addition asking those financial questions came naturally, it was never forced and it definitely happened before I took any man seriously.

I think a lot of the women who don't ask essential questions when getting to know a man hasn't ever really dated with a purpose. It's a lot of women who misidentify their experiences of playing games and having to prove themselves to man children as dating. Grown ups know how to date. Dating with a purpose is getting to know someone, their lifestyle, their past, present and future plans, to see if you can connect. Part of getting to know someone is getting to know about their career/business and their financial stability.
most women do not ask, that is the main issue. then they want to say the guy tricked them when they could of asked long time ago

I asked so many questions my husband asked me if he was being interviewed? I said absolutely, you are! I also asked around. Friends and family. And I did an official background check. No one is going to surprise me with debt, crazy exes, children, child support obligations, fake degrees etc...
I was dating to get married so I wasn't playing around being silly. Romance was great but I also needed us to be on the same page on everything.

Jessie, before you even said it I wanted to say your mother was protecting you. My mother always said don’t ever let a man know that you are alone. Men often prey the most on women that don’t have a village. My mother has done similar things and I didn’t always understand when I was younger, now I see the value and protection in it.

You are right Jess. People are not asking enough questions about one another. Some are so quick to get into something serious without getting to know someone. I understand you can’t know everything, but taking the time to really get to know someone is important. Your time is worth the inquiry.

You can tell where someone is financially during the courting stage. Ex: If someone has to wait for pay day to take you out/ if they can’t travel etc… take your time with dating! Those questions can come up but not on the first few dates…
In the dating process and early stages I believe in getting to know someone fully - some of that is asking questions but it truly just comes up in the conversation. If you make someone comfortable they will tell you everything.
