Thank you for the tip about small vs. big. Smaller roses/plants are easier to train, easier to plant for sure. And way easier to transport in cars, although tempting to buy more. Just need time to watch the never finished garden grow. Thank you for being in the same 10 garden zone, I ❤️your style and bought some small cypress from Home Depot after your topiary inspo in those cute pots 🌳🪴
You mentioned “top pot” for the topiaries, but I couldn’t find that. Is it a special combo that you can suggest…thanks Laura😊

Couldn’t agree with you more about the size of the plants☺️
It’s wonderful to hear others in my same zone!
You’re gonna have a wonderful time training the topiary’s. Remember if you cut to much don’t worry it’ll grow back!🥰🥰
      Happy planting!💚☺️

Good morning. Enjoyed your show. This weekend I am getting the agapanthus. I always see them in gardens and just adore them but never bought them. I don’t know why. You have convinced me. Good point on the climbing rose. I’ve had same issue on one and eventually lost it. I kept forcing the stems to adhere to the trellis . Sorry about your injury to your fingers. I could tell you were just itching to dig in the dirt! Have a good weekend !

Loving the garden and all your plans. I also have no luck with Alliums here in zone 9 in the Bay Area. The agapanthus I am looking for is called Indigo Frost... very similar to yours in the white and blue. Can't wait to see the progress. Hope your fingers feel better soon. Not being able to plant must be killing you!

I have the same issues with Alliums here in Georgia, think they need more cold period than we have. They bloom here once for me and I think it was because we had a cooler than usual winter.

I think that it's just too hot and dry for the Alliums here in California. I've tried to grow them as well without any success. Love the agapanthus. Lots of people here don't like them because they're all over, which is a shame. Planted like you will do creates a really beautiful look, especially with white. Lovely garden. Born and raised in So Cal, but living in Nor Cal now. Miss it down there.

This season was really wet for us. I thought I had a one up from last year. Lol but no success once again😂
Yes, there everywhere as a landscaping plant for commercial areas due to the low maintenance. Boxwoods are used a lot too.
Both are so beautiful when you use them in your garden.
I’m calling them my “socal Alliums”😂

Hi Laura. I garden in San Diego and I feel your allium pain. Last year I grew Silver Springs allium, it's a beautiful white but did not come up this year. The only allium that comes back reliably is... drumstick alliums. They are probably the tiniest of alliums that they are laughable.

Alliums are beautiful thank goodness we have agapanthus for our zone!☺️
What’s worked for me is to make sure they have afternoon shade and sometimes I need to water them twice a day if it a hot day ☀️
Last year was my first year I planted limelight hydrangea they did really well on the west side of my garden so I did put in six more along the side of my house also facing the west side.
I’ll let you know how they do.😊

Beautiful garden! I know what you mean by dead heading, with my carnations and salvia etc. After there first big flush of blooms, then I just shear them back usually to the top of the foliage. They give me another flush of blooms. So much easier then picking out the dead . Of course you will cut some of the open flowers and buds but much more easy and fast. When you show us flowers you are talking about could you use a arrow pointing to which one you are r talking about? I like some white flowers in my garden but color brings me joy, as well as varieties. The white are pretty at night because they glow but when they fade they are so ugly and brown and really stand out like a sore thumb! lol what happened to your fingers ?
You can always where gloves. Your daughter does a fantastic job filming!

    • @laurabeegardening
      @laurabeegardening  Рік тому

      Hi J GG
      Thank you for advice ☺️
Yes, your absolutely right about cutting them back.
I do cut many plants back. However, the dianthus are very short that after a sheer back they look like ground cover.
I guess I just need to pick my battle 😆
