I saw him for a few years at URI. He took the team from the bottom of A10 to the top 20. This was a great feat. Great coach at any level. Great motivator.
Hurley should go pro like Calipari and Donnovan did. He needs his next challenge and pros is the obvious choice. It's a complete ZERO RISK decision too. If he's successful then great he's THE BEST OF ALL TIME. If he fails in the NBA then he can return to UConn in a blink of the eye OR possibly go to where basketball was created and become part of the legacy of coaches at Kansas when Bill Self retires in 5 years.
@@ripwatts373 I think it'll be more about the next challenge instead of the money. He'll get that money either way in the NBA or at a blue blood like Kansas if he needs to return to the NCAA.
I wonder if Dan Hurley can do what only Larry Brown (ex Kansas coach) has done - win both an NCAA and NBA championship. This seems like a no brainer decision for Hurley. If he goes to the NBA and fails then no sweat ... simply return back to the NCAA. I'm sure he'd get his job back at UConn OR in 5-7 years I think Bill Self will be retiring so Allen Fieldhouse where Phog Allen coached and his rules of basketball would be there for him with open arms. That's the ONLY way to go down in basketball history. It would be a crying shame not to try and I'm sure it would be on his mind all the time if he didn't try.
This is what I hate about college ball. Stephon Castle leaves after a year, Clingon after 2, and Hurley may disappear to an iconic but ruined NBA organization in the rat hole that is LA.
BTW It's Never Ever Doomsday For The Likes of UConn nor The Likes of Duke! There's Always a Plan B for Which I Guarantee You They Are Well Prepared For. Note: The Huskies knew It Wouldn't Be Long for Offered To Come Flooding In As a result of the success they knew they'd eventually have. Time to let my boy go and move on toward another Objective/Goal/Championship Etc He's Ready!!!!
If this was the Celtics, New York Knicks, or even the Nets job, I think he 100% takes it, but not LA. He’s an east coast guy with ties to New England. He ain’t leaving!
Tbh, I actually potentially could see Dan Hurley leave for NBA, but for the Lakers specifically, they have the most NBA titles tied with the Celtics. Ik he turned the Kentucky job down, but NBA jobs will ALWAYS be better than CBB jobs, plus he can live on the beach and coach LeBron James

You missed Markieff Morris for Dallas Mavericks and Svi Michauluk for Boston Celtics both played college ball for Kansas
The Lon Kruger story at 11:10 is incredible and so so so on brand for Lon. 😂
Dan Hurley likes coachable kids. Not pros who don’t care

Mark Pope better win.. lmao , Hurley will be ready to leave in 3 years tops... He'll have about 50 extra million in his bank account...@@joireland

norlander in shambles if this happens lol
Did anyone notice that Dan's son, Andrew put up a very mysterious post just yesterday that appeared he was leaving? Could this be related?
How did you guys not mention Duke? Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum!
College basketball is basically pro now anyway with NIL. The main kicker is that UCONN is not in Power 5.

Keep crying lol
@@DarkoRose24 I'm a realist, but we had something pretty sweet. Ah well, at least wehave what few have and will ever have: a repeat.
It's all about the money
@@indigomarine91 As long as he's prepared to have the boys in short pants to essentially ignore him.
And none of that are issues and that's how it should be in College
That would be a super dumb move. He's leveraging to get more money.
TG someone has a brain 🧠
Hurley is smart enough to not leave UConn. LA has nothing to offer Hurley.
UConn will lose Dan Hurley to LA and then the kids will leave UConn and they will fall into oblivion and everyone will laugh 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Kansas is also guaranteed an nba champion

Dan, not going nowhere. Lakers are bums
