@@stevenlavimoniere I had a job with old galvanized waterlines and yeah, every fitting I took apart and replaced the fittings next to it would start leaking or crack, one leaky tee ended up being 12 different fittings. Lol I cringe now when I pull up to an old beach house with that crappy galvanized piping.
Great video! I get these calls all the time, I would be careful with the expansion tanks connected to the air scoop because I've put them on to tight before and cracked the air scoop, I usually just go hand tight then quarter turn with a wrench!
Hey Steve, I have an tip here in today’s world. With all the phone scams going on, sometimes you’re better off calling and if they don’t answer then send a text message letting them know you’re the plumber
Hey Steve, @ 17:33 in video when you have the Extrol draining in the pit, above that the pvc piping for the washer machine, the Ty looks like is is installed backwards, just a vent?
I've had some expansion tanks that didn't want to come out. Last stubborn one, I ended up cutting out the air scoop, and put in a spirovent air separator instead
from where I live , many household I don't see expansion tank being installed , what is the purpose to install it ? prevent high water pressure damage ? can anyone briefly tell me , thanks
Those old style Mansfield boiler drains suck. They leak either from the spout, or around the packing nut. I use the quarter-turn style style boiler drains.
"a flippin` hairdresser!" LMFAO! The one thing that hairdressers and HVAC`s and plumbers have in common is that some of the customers want you to listen to their life stories while you work and that you are constantly running water and around sinks. But, Steve, you could really meet the chicks that way! Like Warren Beatty in "Shampoo". Saddlebags Sallie would have to get in line!
Do feeders maintain pressure? Or do you open manually when pressure gets low? Also when you purge the system, does it fill the rads? Or do you have to then go round and bleed them? Love the vids! Am a plumber in the UK
its a very tight area your very limited with space . the adjustable wrench is slim and fits in there well . a # 4 pipe wrench will fit in there but its 6 inches long and tiny

Can't you have some respect for people? A woman who calls your company first services should not be referred to as an old lady. It's just fucked up. Why don't you call her on the phone and apologize. Just call her on the phone tell her what you did and apologize to her
Steve it's ironic that you made your hairdresser comment only to run into a fitting that was probably finger tight to someone but you couldn't get it with a cheater. Instant Karma. Have you ever considered being a building inspecta? The city offers retirement programs. Just a thought.
@@stevenlavimoniere you may let the concerned know that the weight of a filled 3 gallon expansion tank is less than 30# or roughly the weight of a large bag of dog food.

Whats inside expansion tanks? Anything?

I had an expansion tank so old and rusted tight, I had heat up the cast iron to expand the threads and get it off.
