Get ready when the host says "Monaco One Vote."

Ireland getting 9 votes from Belgium is the highest ever score in the voting system where 10 jurors per country each gave a vote to their favorite song, which was used in 10 years.

Yes true 9 points to France in 1958 from Denmark and 9 points to Ireland from Belgium in 1970. In 1961 Luxembourg (ironicly the winner) gave 8 points to the UK and in that same year 8 points were given to Denmark from Norway. Other high points in this system were 7 votes from Switzerland to the Netherlands in 1957, 7 points from Austria to France in 1958, 7 points from Italy to the Netherlands in 1959, 7 points from Germany to Monaco in 1960, 7 points from Switzerland to the UK in 1961 and 7 points from Switzerland, Monaco and Norway to the UK in 1967!

I think this is the only time the host country performed , and voted, first.

It's interesting how Yugoslavia was participating despite not being part of the EBU, the only Eastern Block country to take part in the contest until after the fall of the Berlin Wall some 19 years later.
