It would be cool but if all your ports are closed then that means no external access. Best you can do is setup reverse proxy so only port 80 and 443 are are open and then manually select ports you want available for Connect. But at some point you will have to have a port open for anything external to access your network .
I never installed "My Servers" when the nag screen was left on the main page of the UI for months. And I am not going to expsose my servers to ANYTHING except my own personal private Wireguard VPN. I will never rely on ANY company to host a remote connection back to my LAN. But I still LOVE Unraid and thank the Unraid team for a doing a great job in developing it!
There is no button to allow external remote access, there is just a list will all server routs. A WAN address is also included but even if I had port forwarding enabled, I can not access with my phone. )-:
Removed what feature? If you bought a license before the cut off date you will get updates for life. 6.13 is do to come out sometime soon so you will definitely know if you have a problem.
I had a router fail that was connetedc to my Unraid server. Can I just assign the old network address to the port feeding the Unraid server to get access to it?
I used this when it first came out.. quit using it after I couldn't access my server when the Internet went out when I was on local lan... Going to it's local ip forwarded to an online domain...... Why..
A good firewall will block everything it doesn't know about. It may be blocking Upnp. Not really sure. Create a exception for. Also, I thought Norton went out of business, haven't thought about them as a company in almost 10 years.
It’s just an example to show that you can turn off remote access and turn it on. You can port forward as well. Obviously each person should analyze their security risk for their own environment before doing anything.
Yeah it's weird. I have every card except that one. I have a pro license too. My parity is still building, so i wonder if that has anything to do with it.
@@SPXLabs alright. Well i guess I'll find out if it appears after the parity builds 🤷🏻 if not, guess i should contact support. I just saw it said "alpha" on yours and thought maybe it was a special feature you turned on somehow. I'm also running official 6.12.3, so maybe if you're running beta that would explain it too. Probably not though, considering Unraid advertises this feature as if it's official.
@rfehr613 I did have early access to it but it is available now and in Beta I believe. At the time I filmed, I didn’t not exclude anything. You saw everything as I saw it.
Really appreciate the videos you do on Unraid. I always learn something new when you do these. Keep up the great work.
🥰
That is slick but I'd rather manually configure instead of allowing UPnP.
That is an option.
yeah this should definitely work without any port forwarding

I used My Servers for a bit for fun but also don’t like exposing if I don’t have to, so I stopped.
This is the way.
why game server public not work only LAN ?
What?
I just tried this now, works great! My Servers had limitations
Now we have Unlimited Power!
@@SPXLabs Yes haha. I totally forgot how to add banners but now I see where it is I'll have to create an image.

I'm not really sure what has changed or updated since this video was created.
Great feature, but with VPN that was already possible for me. Is there a good option in UnRaid to share a link to some data with friends?
Not in Unraid but there are containers that will let you do that. github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted/blob/master/README.md
@@SPXLabs Which of these containers is able to do that?

@@SPXLabs Thank you very much :)
Sometimes I’m a good bot but others not so much. 😆
Only upnp? are there any other options? like synology quick connect or homeassistant nabucasa?
You can use port forwarding if you wish.
Went ahead and purchased my license early just to get this feature. However it seems they removed the feature.

I'm not sure if I understand. You can assign it the old ip address assuming nothing has changed drastically.

Wait… what??? No way
i dont see the remote access option anywhere, was it disabled?
Could have moved or changed after some updates
Why Norton is blocking Unraid.connect?

great vid!
Nice feature but I will stick with logging into my server remotely via wireguard/teleport and then using any of my devices that way.
Yeah it's really cool but like you, this is how I would connect to my homeservers.
I think im going to buy a Unraid license and give this a try !!
Did you do it?
@@SPXLabs not yet. soon
Two weeks TM
@@SPXLabs BUY me a license EH !!
Bruh I can’t even afford American dollars and you want me to try and buy Chinese Canadian dollars????

Didn't realize Unraid had a UA-cam channel meow.
It runs through AWS. Amazon is too snoopy. Fuck the "MyServers" shenanigans.
Yeah! screw My Servers! All hail Connect!
@SPX Labs If it runs through AWS, that's a security breach and no better then "My Servers."
Risk assessment plays a huge role decisions like yours. It’s perfectly valid and a reasonable concern. And I was just poking a little fun.
So in theory AWS could look at your server if they wanted to??

I just don't even have that Dynamic Remote Access option at all. What gives? I see no way to enable it either.
