I have an ‘04 TJ myself. I also worked at Jeep when those where new. The best thing you can do is leave it stock. Don’t waste your money on cheap gimmick aftermarket Chinese parts. Install new spark plugs, use some seafom. Change the oil, replace the air filter with a factory replacement. Cutting the hood will NOT benefit anything. Those run at about 210 degrees.
Yeah I'm not concerned with the engine operating temperature, that has been fine so far up the mountain passes. I prefer the ambient air temperature under there to not be so brutal.

Use fluid film on the inside of that frame, those rot from the inside.
I'm also likely going to consider adding drainage holes in a couple spots. Saw someone's video covering the topic and where they added holes.
