I also like how shadow in the past was a lot more free spirited , and enjoyed fun times with maria, showing how shadow was very similar to Sonic and Tails , but tragedy changed shadow forever.

Considering that he came fully grown in a meteor and doesn't know where he came from, it could indicate his potential Black Arms connection. Being a lab rat certainly didn't help. Point is, he is similar to Sonic in some ways, but always had that dark in him.

It’s tragic that shadow doesn’t know that Walters was the only Soldier there that was trying to save Maria, it would be a great scene of character development to show Walters explain that he tried to save them, that he tried to save Maria by grabbing the soldiers rifle and angle it away from them, but unfortunately ended up killing Maria in the explosion caused by a negligent discharge, maybe show Walters being a broken man with regret about having failed Maria, and shadow can see that walters was never the enemy.
I was worried that the movie would gloss over Maria and Shadow’s care for each other but I am glad that the writers did a wonderful job. The scenes got me emotional
Outside of the 3rd act, the Shadow and Maria flashbacks were my favorite part of the movie. I like that they had Sonic be the one to discover Shadows familial relationship with Maria. Since in their first encounter Sonic was still snarky with Shadow. Walters tells sonic that shadow was a lot like sonic but found only pain and loss. Once Sonic found out the truth about Shadows trauma he was more willing to be empathetic and talk to Shadow rather than fight him. Shadow in general I just love. His trauma is what wakes him. At first there's no desire for revenge he's just awake, hurting and looking for purpose. I love his encounter with G.U.N. in Tokyo. "Why won't you just leave me alone." It's made crystal clear that deep down shadow doesn't actually want to hurt anyone. I liked seeing him actually open up to Sonic about Maria when they were on the moon. It's a dialogue I wish was explored in the game continuity at least once. Just let Sonic and Shadow sit down and talk, let Shadow open up a bit about Maria. Maybe Sonic and Shadow wouldn't be frenimies anymore. In Shadow Generations, Maria even makes it clear she sees Sonic and thinks he is one of Shadows' friends.
I think what the movie got 100% right about Maria is her heart and unconditional love. It was never transactional, rather she just saw shadow immediately as a sibiling In dark beginnings and In the movie, she knows shadow isn’t a monster like how everyone else views him. But he is a person who deeply loves. And that he just wanted someone to love him. That’s where I think the movie relationship lies on is just two kids who wanted love and found it each other in a military base filled with monsters. I absolutely love how they spend soo much time together just playing around, getting in trouble, teaching him to dance and building a little fort. A fort just for them! And how it is only her who is treating him with love. Love the flower scene!! I absolutely loveeee that she skates and plays the guitar acoustic version. And from the beginning shadow cherishes her playing it to him. Buttttt…. I still think we needed more focus on shadow, Maria and Gerald this movie or a spin-off. I’m not the happiest about Maria’s disability write-off, her non-sacrifice or how shadow wasn’t made to for her. I still loved the movie but I think they did a disservice by not slowing it down and having those tough talks of acceptance, death looming and finding ones-self between Maria and shadow. I think if they cut a lot of Ivo and Gerald scenes and actually gave shadow and maria 30-40 minutes of content I think it would have been a absolutely amazing movie.

I really liked how they portrayed Maria in the movie, she is very charming and her bond with Shadow is really endearing, honestly makes her fate all the more sadder
One aspect I was wondering about (and ended up liking) was the fact that when you say "50 years ago" in the early 2000s, it would take us to the 1950s, and we see this in Maria's clothing style in the games, HOWEVER, when you say 50 years ago in the 2020s it takes you back to the 1970s and we see how the whole 70s motif is used between Shadow and Maria in the movie from the clothing to the music, and I'm all for it. ❤ Ps. Can you imagine Shadow saying "Groovy" or using any 70s slang? XD
Honestly I adored their relationship so much in the film. It was even better than I imagined. I’ve always wanted to see the characters act properly like kids and siblings. It made her death the more emotional and even brought me to tears. The quote she and shadow quote a few times in this film too made me ball. It reminded me of my father who died passed when I was a kid. Honestly brilliant movie Edit: I’m hoping that if they do a solo movie for shadow that they go more in depth and show more moments with shadow and Maria
I do love the fact that they specifically gave Maria 70's style outfits and interests (skating, record players, ect.). Unlike in the games where we're always told that the ARK incident took place 50 years in the past, but nothing in the games reflected that. The thing that always drove me crazy is that for some reason in the games, the G.U.N. soldiers were shown to have just as advanced equipment and technology as they do in the modern day, which makes absolutely no sense!?
Ikr? The 70's aesthetic was one I hoped they would not forget, seeing the movies came out in the 2020s, and they looked good! BTW, something that took me off guard was the idea that Maria was the one who roller skated, and Shadow possibly took that from her! Mind-blown. When it comes to the og design of Maria, I always saw her dress very 50's ish, do I don't have much quarrel with the og game on that matter. Edit: I agree with the G.U.N. soldiers issue. They look the same always 😂😂😂😂 a big oversight to be sure.
I like that they gave her kind of the same silly personality that Gerald and Ivo have. Her heart was never twisted like theirs, so we get some insight not only into what Shadow may have ended up like if he just had close friends during his time on Earth, but also what Ivo might have been like if he was raised by a family that properly loved him.
It's not that his quills can stop time, but instead that the chaos energy innate for Shadow and his quills has a rejuvinating effect, so Gerald licking the quills is like taking a sip from the fountain of youth to keep him alive longer I wonder if Ivo knows this Edit: Explained by Jeff Fowler himself. They were gonna make a scene to show this but instead it was cut for time cus it's just a minor thing in the grand scheme of the movie's plot

The moments we did have of Maria made me so positively elated that I definitely became blind to the way they changed her character from the games, which you did a good job of pointing out.
One thing I think many of us are grateful for this year, is that, no matter what, people know who Maria is now. Between Dark Beginnings, Shadow Generations, and the Sonic 3, more people know her now, and know who she is and what she meant to Shadow. And even if the many iterations of her differ, and their circumstances may change, no matter what, her and Shadow were everything to each other, and everyone knows that now, and I think that’s my biggest takeaway!

I see Maria as the Ultimate Deathform, and the writing for various depictions takes that title in various directions: as an angelic doomed plot device, or an ever looming illness that Shadow is frustrated he can’t cure, or a haunting repeating memory of her last moments, or a connection to humanity that she never actually got to live as, or in the movie’s case simply an accident that took us (and her family) by surprise. no sacrifice, no illness, just an unfortunate attempt at prevention. and that works because they showed her being an actual character beforehand. in every iteration, as soon as you see her you know she’s gonna die, you can’t work around that doom even if you don’t want to directly shoot her. but at least this time she’s shown living for awhile to juxtapose the abrupt doom. but i think they could’ve (and should’ve) worked her illness in the movie somehow, even as just a simple line of dialogue to explain why she’s at the lab, because she can be just as upbeat and lively with a disability

I love how Maria was portrayed in the movie... (don't even mind her toned down death scene all too much) but yeah. They cut a bit t o o many things from her game backstory to make her simpler, and there definitely needed to be a few more scenes to clear up things around Shadow's part in her story as well. Maybe it's stuff that'll be touched on in a future project. Especially think it wouldn't be too pricey either. Since just one scene showing how much she meant to Gerald, or how Commander Walters factored into things would've helped.

WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!!)_* 🚨 As a 17 year old lifelong Sonic fan, I gotta say: Sonic 3 was so phenomenal, that I watched it 3 times (2 days ago was my third time, the 20th was my second, and the 19th {the Fan Event} was my first). Also, Alyla really captured Maria's energy and kindness accurately; she did amazing as Maria. The movie got Maria's compassion and empathy right; Maria was as sweet, sympathetic, understanding, and nice as she was in the games. They really captured Shadow and Maria's sibling bond/friendship (whatever you view it as), correctly. It was very wholesome and heart warming to see....And the quote, "the light that shines even when the star is gone".... That just broke my heart. Paramount, Fowler, + SEGA COOKED with this movie. Actually, the movie got EVERYTHING about SA2 right---Just a few changes, like how Maria doesn't have N.I.D.S in the movie, as well as Shadow wasn't created by Gerald (with the help of Black Doom); Shadow was found in a meteorite that landed in Oklahoma 50 years ago (I forgot where the meteorite was found, despite watching Sonic 3, three times lmao. Please correct me if I'm wrong). Shadow even tells Maria he doesn't know where he's from. Two other changes is that of Gerald being executed by firing squad, and being dead long before the events of SA2 + Shadow '05. In the movie, he was actually still alive, and Fowler revealed him taking hits off of Shadow's quill (like how Eggman does with Sonic's) helped him get slightly younger each time he did it, because of the Chaos Energy inside the quill. Finally, the last change is how Maria died: She died from a gun shot to a tank full of Chaos Energy, which led to an explosion. I (personally) don't mind these changes, and the movie still exceeded my expectations! Anyways, Alyla did _amazing_ as Maria, Keanu did _amazing_ as Shadow, and all the other actors; Ben as Sonic, Colleen (the OG) as Tails, Idris as Knuckles, Jim Carrey as Gerald & Eggman; plus other actors/actresses that played supporting characters: Tom, Maddie, Rachel, Randall, Rockwell, Agent Stone, and Commander Walters....They all did amazing. I would say Maria and shadows relationship in SA2, Shadow the Hedgehog, Dark Beginnings, Sonic X Shadow Generations is more sentimental. Obviously I am not saying their relationship in the movie was not sentimental I mean there was that scene with the Stars. But their relationship in other media you can tell is more sentimental. But what I like about the movie version is that it's more entertaining. I like that we get to see Maria be an actual kid and I like that we get to see what they do in their free time

Kind of like how in real life you can recognize a younger version of your grandparent by looking at their photos. If Sonic 3 wasn’t live action, then younger and present day Walter would likely have design not show they are the same person just different ages. They portrayed Maria being goofy and mischievous child. Not as bad, but they were missing an important thing. Maria was also sick and was suffering from an illness and Rebbot. It was trying to cure a shame that they didn’t put that.

Yeah but Walter’s seem to want to defend them. And i don’t know if Shadow knew that. And how did Shadow know Walter’s looked like that…and Walter’s says that Shadow’s power was too much and blamed the incident on Gerald. He never talks about what actually happened. He never mentions Maria and Sonic and co. I understand they wanted to keep that part of the story under wraps until the reveal but he just says a cliff notes version of it that I wish they expanded a little bit more on
@Idkkprincess true, but that's a hollow sentiment for someone who spent 50 years stuck re-living the same moment. As for how shadow knows it was him, Walters just staring him down as he's sealed without trying to apologize gives off the impression. Considering Gerald seemingly killed Walters, it's not much of a leap to assume he told shadow what he did and even showed footage. I think the idea is we're supposed to know something bad happened and just assume what Walters said is the truth. Only to get more and more information that brings that into doubt(Gerald wanting revenge, shadow constantly blaming GUN, then keeping Gerald alive for death weapons). Culminating in us learning the actual truth of the situation.
I have all of the exact same opinions. I do think them not included her sickness or wish does remove a very important level of Shadow and Maria’s relationship and I’m so curious why they decided to remove those. I feel like we are definitely missing some deleted scenes and could have used more about Gerald in the past. I really love the stuff we got with their relationship, like the depiction really emphasizing that they are both kids. And I do like how they changed her death to make it PG friendly while keeping GUN’s involvement essentially the same. Their intention was to shoot. They were going to shoot. They did not care that they were kids. I really like how they used Walters in the past to intervene, but the end result ultimately be the same, without showing anything explicitly. But I do really wish we got a longer scene of that or her last words or something. But gosh their relationship is so sweet in the movie.
I just woke up because yesterday i watched the movie, and yeah i liked when Shadow remembers Maria for the first time. And i mean the montage up until they watched the stars. That part made me feel like theres some heart in the movie.
My headcanon is that Shadow and Maria had multiple nights where they gazed at the stars, and at some point or another Maria told Shadow that she dreams of exploring the stars someday. And when Shadow ends up on the moon and flying through space, he’s carrying out her wish, in a way.

Alyla was the perfect choice for Maria, and unlike Sherry from Welcome to Raccoon City I am so f***ing glad they got her hair color right. Welcome to Raccoon City got A LOT of shit wrong so being an hour through the movie and seeing this supposedly blonde girl being played by a brunette was the straw that broke my sanity. When I saw the trailer thumbnail of Maria putting her hand on Shadow's tube in half darkness I was afraid for a moment that they would do that here as well, so I was glad to see that wasn't the case, false alarm. Again, Alyla is perfect for the role and she puts just the right amount of innocent charm, heart, and mischievousness into the character. Like when she sees Shadow react negatively to the Godzilla movie, and then steals an access card to go stargazing with Shadow because she could feel he needed that.
Both Shadow and Maria are amazing and are my favourite parts of the movie. Not just because they’re both some of my most favourite characters in the series, but just how lovely their friendship is shown and how much she cares for him. Feel like we could have had at least one more flash back in the movie. Even with the changes I feel they did, still great characters. I feel her love for the earth is shown by all the different things she carries with her, roller skates, music, movies. Plus they’re still making movies not to mention the possibility of a spin off series or movie that many many would want to go deeper into the character and backstory especially if they bring in Doom where shadow comes from (the meteor he comes from is literally like black arms) ❤️🖤

Well in sa2 he didn't have amnesia, but Gerald manipulated his memories to so that shadow mostly remembered Maria's death. The official English translation did not portray this story beat AT ALL.
Despite the script removing Maria’s illness, I watched the whole movie and didn’t even notice. Seriously I didn’t realize until hours later that Maria no longer had her disability. 😅😂 I think the disease angle always felt really shallow to me anyway. Like a cheap way to garner sympathy from the audience in her brief appearances in the games. To me, the core of Maria’s character was her pure heart, and optimism about life. Since that was maintained in the film, I didn’t feel like anything was missing at all.
My Critic with the Whole Maria thing is that they could've had 3 or 4 Perspectives One from Gerald one from Shadow Like Gerald has his Own Version POV On what Maria would "Want" as dose shadow and later have that scene with her Dying with Shadow and Maria and then Maria telling Shadow "Give them a chance for them to be happy" that way like it just shows you and that's it
One of my biggist complants about the movie was the fact they took away marias nids and im aware of the fact im very nitpicky with show/movie aductations of games but even tho in the origial stuff not every kid could be a maria those of us thhat were at least i apretated it the growing up with an invisable disablity the growing up in and out of the hospital the not being able to do as much as other kids the knowing you could die way too young was a huge reality for me and still is but maria was the first Character i could relate too cause when i was a kid there wasnt really anything with that kinda rep anf if ghere was it was people whp were wheelchair bound people with prostectics people with visable disablitys and i could never relate to them the way i could with maria maria was a first for me and one of the reasons im such a huge fan of sonic and why shadow and maria are my favente Characters because even tho i was introdused to sonic though sonic underground sa2 was what got me into it and why im a sonic fan to this day i feel like they kinda did shadows backstory and maria a little dirty ues i love and adore their freindship and that we see more of it but theres so much more they could have done to give the arc siblings justice and they didnt like i said im bery nitpicky and i have a lot of stuff i dont like about the movie (more of annoyises but still) along with the good do a like this movie better then the other 2 yes i may be baised with that tho is it a good movie do i like it yes is it peak like everyone is saying no idk if i just feel cheated out with shadow and marias story but i didnt absalutly love the movie it isnt one of my favretes not like too far but like i hope they do better with the show fingers crossed they add marias nids as at least a mention (Lile with the first movie i loved amd adored how they took the very niche and not very well known Character of longclaw and made her so much more the secend movie gave me a lot of qrestions about stuff they never answerd and i doupt they will thats a little annoying but what can ya do lol)
I went and saw Sonic Movie 3 today. I would give it an excellent rating. I'm glad to see Maria Robotnik wasn't just a plot device for Shadow. Sonic saw that Shadow had a sister that he had lost when he picked up the photo. The question I have is how did Sonic know Maria's name Shadow never once said her name to Sonic at any point maybe I missed something?

I wanted more interaction between Gerald and Maria to solidify why he cared so much for her to do what he did in the movie. Yes, that's his grandchild, but since the movie didn't give us a reason as to why she was at a military base like in the games, that part was definitely lost on me and when she eventually dies, I don't feel sad because her death is essential to move the plot not move my heart
The one thing I am disappointed about in the film is there isn’t an epic race battle between Sonic and Shadow. No I am not counting the one where Shadow was on his bike. Shadow has to be on foot while racing Sonic with some fighting. Btw IDK, have you seen the Project Shadow fan films?
Yes, I have seen the project shadow fan film and people have been asking for me to review it. So I probably will…because it also tackles my personal hobby of vintage electronics…I actually have some of the stuff shown in the film ;p Also no chaos control from Shadow too….so I’m excited to see the future!

I mean…we don’t actually know where Shadow came from in the games. Like we know Gerald created him but Shadow’s root (aka the Egg scene we get in the Japanese Fearless intro) is unknown… I was fine with the bunker and understood why that was changed. You do know that Jeff F doesn't make all the decisions. Yes, he's the director but it's overall a paramount film. They have more control than the director. I feel like Jeff does the best he can but cmon, this is Hollywood.
Shadow’s origin being “unknown” opens up the doors for more possibilities. Yes, he came from a Meteor, but where was the meteor from? Was he sent there on purpose? Was it an accident? All questions that could be answered by future projects. Just because it’s not exactly the same as the games doesn’t automatically make it bad.

I was worried that the movie would gloss over Maria and Shadow’s care for each other but I am glad that the writers did a wonderful job. The scenes got me emotional
Outside of the 3rd act, the Shadow and Maria flashbacks were my favorite part of the movie. I like that they had Sonic be the one to discover Shadows familial relationship with Maria. Since in their first encounter Sonic was still snarky with Shadow. Walters tells sonic that shadow was a lot like sonic but found only pain and loss. Once Sonic found out the truth about Shadows trauma he was more willing to be empathetic and talk to Shadow rather than fight him.
Shadow in general I just love. His trauma is what wakes him. At first there's no desire for revenge he's just awake, hurting and looking for purpose. I love his encounter with G.U.N. in Tokyo. "Why won't you just leave me alone."
It's made crystal clear that deep down shadow doesn't actually want to hurt anyone. I liked seeing him actually open up to Sonic about Maria when they were on the moon. It's a dialogue I wish was explored in the game continuity at least once. Just let Sonic and Shadow sit down and talk, let Shadow open up a bit about Maria. Maybe Sonic and Shadow wouldn't be frenimies anymore.
In Shadow Generations, Maria even makes it clear she sees Sonic and thinks he is one of Shadows' friends.
I think what the movie got 100% right about Maria is her heart and unconditional love.
It was never transactional, rather she just saw shadow immediately as a sibiling
In dark beginnings and In the movie, she knows shadow isn’t a monster like how everyone else views him. But he is a person who deeply loves.
And that he just wanted someone to love him. That’s where I think the movie relationship lies on is just two kids who wanted love and found it each other in a military base filled with monsters.
I absolutely love how they spend soo much time together just playing around, getting in trouble, teaching him to dance and building a little fort. A fort just for them! And how it is only her who is treating him with love. Love the flower scene!!
I absolutely loveeee that she skates and plays the guitar acoustic version. And from the beginning shadow cherishes her playing it to him.
Buttttt…. I still think we needed more focus on shadow, Maria and Gerald this movie or a spin-off. I’m not the happiest about Maria’s disability write-off, her non-sacrifice or how shadow wasn’t made to for her. I still loved the movie but I think they did a disservice by not slowing it down and having those tough talks of acceptance, death looming and finding ones-self between Maria and shadow. I think if they cut a lot of Ivo and Gerald scenes and actually gave shadow and maria 30-40 minutes of content I think it would have been a absolutely amazing movie.

One aspect I was wondering about (and ended up liking) was the fact that when you say "50 years ago" in the early 2000s, it would take us to the 1950s, and we see this in Maria's clothing style in the games, HOWEVER, when you say 50 years ago in the 2020s it takes you back to the 1970s and we see how the whole 70s motif is used between Shadow and Maria in the movie from the clothing to the music, and I'm all for it. ❤

Honestly I adored their relationship so much in the film. It was even better than I imagined. I’ve always wanted to see the characters act properly like kids and siblings. It made her death the more emotional and even brought me to tears. The quote she and shadow quote a few times in this film too made me ball. It reminded me of my father who died passed when I was a kid. Honestly brilliant movie

I do love the fact that they specifically gave Maria 70's style outfits and interests (skating, record players, ect.). Unlike in the games where we're always told that the ARK incident took place 50 years in the past, but nothing in the games reflected that.
The thing that always drove me crazy is that for some reason in the games, the G.U.N. soldiers were shown to have just as advanced equipment and technology as they do in the modern day, which makes absolutely no sense!?
Ikr? The 70's aesthetic was one I hoped they would not forget, seeing the movies came out in the 2020s, and they looked good! BTW, something that took me off guard was the idea that Maria was the one who roller skated, and Shadow possibly took that from her! Mind-blown.
When it comes to the og design of Maria, I always saw her dress very 50's ish, do I don't have much quarrel with the og game on that matter.

I like that they gave her kind of the same silly personality that Gerald and Ivo have. Her heart was never twisted like theirs, so we get some insight not only into what Shadow may have ended up like if he just had close friends during his time on Earth, but also what Ivo might have been like if he was raised by a family that properly loved him.
It's not that his quills can stop time, but instead that the chaos energy innate for Shadow and his quills has a rejuvinating effect, so Gerald licking the quills is like taking a sip from the fountain of youth to keep him alive longer

The moments we did have of Maria made me so positively elated that I definitely became blind to the way they changed her character from the games, which you did a good job of pointing out.
One thing I think many of us are grateful for this year, is that, no matter what, people know who Maria is now. Between Dark Beginnings, Shadow Generations, and the Sonic 3, more people know her now, and know who she is and what she meant to Shadow. And even if the many iterations of her differ, and their circumstances may change, no matter what, her and Shadow were everything to each other, and everyone knows that now, and I think that’s my biggest takeaway!

I see Maria as the Ultimate Deathform, and the writing for various depictions takes that title in various directions: as an angelic doomed plot device, or an ever looming illness that Shadow is frustrated he can’t cure, or a haunting repeating memory of her last moments, or a connection to humanity that she never actually got to live as, or in the movie’s case simply an accident that took us (and her family) by surprise. no sacrifice, no illness, just an unfortunate attempt at prevention. and that works because they showed her being an actual character beforehand. in every iteration, as soon as you see her you know she’s gonna die, you can’t work around that doom even if you don’t want to directly shoot her. but at least this time she’s shown living for awhile to juxtapose the abrupt doom. but i think they could’ve (and should’ve) worked her illness in the movie somehow, even as just a simple line of dialogue to explain why she’s at the lab, because she can be just as upbeat and lively with a disability

I love how Maria was portrayed in the movie... (don't even mind her toned down death scene all too much) but yeah. They cut a bit t o o many things from her game backstory to make her simpler, and there definitely needed to be a few more scenes to clear up things around Shadow's part in her story as well. Maybe it's stuff that'll be touched on in a future project.
Especially think it wouldn't be too pricey either. Since just one scene showing how much she meant to Gerald, or how Commander Walters factored into things would've helped.

As a 17 year old lifelong Sonic fan, I gotta say: Sonic 3 was so phenomenal, that I watched it 3 times (2 days ago was my third time, the 20th was my second, and the 19th {the Fan Event} was my first). Also, Alyla really captured Maria's energy and kindness accurately; she did amazing as Maria.
The movie got Maria's compassion and empathy right; Maria was as sweet, sympathetic, understanding, and nice as she was in the games. They really captured Shadow and Maria's sibling bond/friendship (whatever you view it as), correctly. It was very wholesome and heart warming to see....And the quote, "the light that shines even when the star is gone"....
That just broke my heart. Paramount, Fowler, + SEGA COOKED with this movie.
Actually, the movie got EVERYTHING about SA2 right---Just a few changes, like how Maria doesn't have N.I.D.S in the movie, as well as Shadow wasn't created by Gerald (with the help of Black Doom); Shadow was found in a meteorite that landed in Oklahoma 50 years ago (I forgot where the meteorite was found, despite watching Sonic 3, three times lmao. Please correct me if I'm wrong). Shadow even tells Maria he doesn't know where he's from. Two other changes is that of Gerald being executed by firing squad, and being dead long before the events of SA2 + Shadow '05. In the movie, he was actually still alive, and Fowler revealed him taking hits off of Shadow's quill (like how Eggman does with Sonic's) helped him get slightly younger each time he did it, because of the Chaos Energy inside the quill. Finally, the last change is how Maria died: She died from a gun shot to a tank full of Chaos Energy, which led to an explosion. I (personally) don't mind these changes, and the movie still exceeded my expectations!
Anyways, Alyla did _amazing_ as Maria, Keanu did _amazing_ as Shadow, and all the other actors; Ben as Sonic, Colleen (the OG) as Tails, Idris as Knuckles, Jim Carrey as Gerald & Eggman; plus other actors/actresses that played supporting characters: Tom, Maddie, Rachel, Randall, Rockwell, Agent Stone, and Commander Walters....They all did amazing. This movie was phenomenal. Sonic 3 is #1 in America and Ireland right now. Let's go!! 🖤❤
I would say Maria and shadows relationship in
SA2, Shadow the Hedgehog, Dark Beginnings, Sonic X Shadow Generations is more sentimental. Obviously I am not saying their relationship in the movie was not sentimental I mean there was that scene with the Stars. But their relationship in other media you can tell is more sentimental.
But what I like about the movie version is that it's more entertaining. I like that we get to see Maria be an actual kid and I like that we get to see what they do in their free time

They did a good job with the scene between Shadow and Maria.
They portrayed Maria being goofy and mischievous child. Not as bad, but they were missing an important thing. Maria was also sick and was suffering from an illness and Rebbot. It was trying to cure a shame that they didn’t put that.

Yeah but Walter’s seem to want to defend them. And i don’t know if Shadow knew that. And how did Shadow know Walter’s looked like that…and Walter’s says that Shadow’s power was too much and blamed the incident on Gerald. He never talks about what actually happened. He never mentions Maria and Sonic and co. I understand they wanted to keep that part of the story under wraps until the reveal but he just says a cliff notes version of it that I wish they expanded a little bit more on

As for how shadow knows it was him, Walters just staring him down as he's sealed without trying to apologize gives off the impression. Considering Gerald seemingly killed Walters, it's not much of a leap to assume he told shadow what he did and even showed footage. I think the idea is we're supposed to know something bad happened and just assume what Walters said is the truth. Only to get more and more information that brings that into doubt(Gerald wanting revenge, shadow constantly blaming GUN, then keeping Gerald alive for death weapons). Culminating in us learning the actual truth of the situation.
Like i know theres some people gonna be disappointed that she isnt sick or not shot but even the chances felt more impactful

I have all of the exact same opinions. I do think them not included her sickness or wish does remove a very important level of Shadow and Maria’s relationship and I’m so curious why they decided to remove those. I feel like we are definitely missing some deleted scenes and could have used more about Gerald in the past. I really love the stuff we got with their relationship, like the depiction really emphasizing that they are both kids. And I do like how they changed her death to make it PG friendly while keeping GUN’s involvement essentially the same. Their intention was to shoot. They were going to shoot. They did not care that they were kids. I really like how they used Walters in the past to intervene, but the end result ultimately be the same, without showing anything explicitly. But I do really wish we got a longer scene of that or her last words or something. But gosh their relationship is so sweet in the movie.

I just woke up because yesterday i watched the movie, and yeah i liked when Shadow remembers Maria for the first time. And i mean the montage up until they watched the stars. That part made me feel like theres some heart in the movie.
My headcanon is that Shadow and Maria had multiple nights where they gazed at the stars, and at some point or another Maria told Shadow that she dreams of exploring the stars someday. And when Shadow ends up on the moon and flying through space, he’s carrying out her wish, in a way.

Alyla was the perfect choice for Maria, and unlike Sherry from Welcome to Raccoon City I am so f***ing glad they got her hair color right. Welcome to Raccoon City got A LOT of shit wrong so being an hour through the movie and seeing this supposedly blonde girl being played by a brunette was the straw that broke my sanity.
When I saw the trailer thumbnail of Maria putting her hand on Shadow's tube in half darkness I was afraid for a moment that they would do that here as well, so I was glad to see that wasn't the case, false alarm.
Again, Alyla is perfect for the role and she puts just the right amount of innocent charm, heart, and mischievousness into the character. Like when she sees Shadow react negatively to the Godzilla movie, and then steals an access card to go stargazing with Shadow because she could feel he needed that.
If we get a Shadow spinoff show (which Keanu wants to do) im 100% sure we will see more Maria flashbacks.
The actress won't stop growing, so they will probably cast a new one.

Both Shadow and Maria are amazing and are my favourite parts of the movie. Not just because they’re both some of my most favourite characters in the series, but just how lovely their friendship is shown and how much she cares for him. Feel like we could have had at least one more flash back in the movie. Even with the changes I feel they did, still great characters. I feel her love for the earth is shown by all the different things she carries with her, roller skates, music, movies. Plus they’re still making movies not to mention the possibility of a spin off series or movie that many many would want to go deeper into the character and backstory especially if they bring in Doom where shadow comes from (the meteor he comes from is literally like black arms) ❤️🖤

Despite the script removing Maria’s illness, I watched the whole movie and didn’t even notice. Seriously I didn’t realize until hours later that Maria no longer had her disability. 😅😂 I think the disease angle always felt really shallow to me anyway. Like a cheap way to garner sympathy from the audience in her brief appearances in the games. To me, the core of Maria’s character was her pure heart, and optimism about life. Since that was maintained in the film, I didn’t feel like anything was missing at all.

My Critic with the Whole Maria thing is that they could've had 3 or 4 Perspectives One from Gerald one from Shadow Like Gerald has his Own Version POV On what Maria would "Want" as dose shadow and later have that scene with her Dying with Shadow and Maria and then Maria telling Shadow "Give them a chance for them to be happy" that way like it just shows you and that's it
One of my biggist complants about the movie was the fact they took away marias nids and im aware of the fact im very nitpicky with show/movie aductations of games but even tho in the origial stuff not every kid could be a maria those of us thhat were at least i apretated it the growing up with an invisable disablity the growing up in and out of the hospital the not being able to do as much as other kids the knowing you could die way too young was a huge reality for me and still is but maria was the first Character i could relate too cause when i was a kid there wasnt really anything with that kinda rep anf if ghere was it was people whp were wheelchair bound people with prostectics people with visable disablitys and i could never relate to them the way i could with maria maria was a first for me and one of the reasons im such a huge fan of sonic and why shadow and maria are my favente Characters because even tho i was introdused to sonic though sonic underground sa2 was what got me into it and why im a sonic fan to this day i feel like they kinda did shadows backstory and maria a little dirty ues i love and adore their freindship and that we see more of it but theres so much more they could have done to give the arc siblings justice and they didnt like i said im bery nitpicky and i have a lot of stuff i dont like about the movie (more of annoyises but still) along with the good do a like this movie better then the other 2 yes i may be baised with that tho is it a good movie do i like it yes is it peak like everyone is saying no idk if i just feel cheated out with shadow and marias story but i didnt absalutly love the movie it isnt one of my favretes not like too far but like i hope they do better with the show fingers crossed they add marias nids as at least a mention

I went and saw Sonic Movie 3 today. I would give it an excellent rating. I'm glad to see Maria Robotnik wasn't just a plot device for Shadow. Sonic saw that Shadow had a sister that he had lost when he picked up the photo. The question I have is how did Sonic know Maria's name Shadow never once said her name to Sonic at any point maybe I missed something?

The one thing I am disappointed about in the film is there isn’t an epic race battle between Sonic and Shadow. No I am not counting the one where Shadow was on his bike. Shadow has to be on foot while racing Sonic with some fighting.

I mean…we don’t actually know where Shadow came from in the games. Like we know Gerald created him but Shadow’s root (aka the Egg scene we get in the Japanese Fearless intro) is unknown…

You do know that Jeff F doesn't make all the decisions. Yes, he's the director but it's overall a paramount film. They have more control than the director. I feel like Jeff does the best he can but cmon, this is Hollywood.

Yes, he came from a Meteor, but where was the meteor from? Was he sent there on purpose? Was it an accident? All questions that could be answered by future projects.

@@AntolaRes just a european guy who is tired of americans ruining stories, from japanese stories to european, either changing them and make them goofy like this silly movie did or putting blacks in european story which arte NO BLACKS IN EUROPEAN STORY but i am glad you americans loverd this....thing at least go watch it a gajilion times to surpass a billion then to see what mess sonic movie 4 will be.
