This still is the best game ever, anyone that played it and liked it will agree. There will never be anything like Chromehounds. 10 years later and I still miss it to this day.
chrome hounds had a very unique customization style that applied really well to the style of terrain warfare, the only other level of customization i had played a mech game of it was armored core
Miss this game badly, had the best campaign and online community I have ever seen or seen since. If I had the money and ability I would buy all the rights and make a sequel as well as make a dedicated server for the original game to run online again and allow community members access to help advance the new campaigns that will be a 3 month run for each installment.
I'm 44 now and remember this game like it was yesterday. I'm a nerd for this, but I'll say it anyway....my heart broke when the servers were shut down. What a great experience this was. I will never ever forget my time with Chromehounds.
It's crazy to think something so simple would envoke such strong emotions but I'm 36 now and man do I miss this game and the times surrounding this game. No nerding brother, just good fun in simpler times!
This game definatly captured my heart back when I played it at the age of 15. I was literally addicted for a while, couldn't sleep because all I could think about was chromehounds lol. You are right, it is ahead of its time, so many games back then were all arcade and relatively basic compared to today. I totally forgot about the radio silence and elections. Awesome game, hope someone picks up the title and makes a second one. Meanwhile I may have to check out MAV.
I really do recommend checking out MAV. The community is overwhelmingly friendly and helpful (which is something I feel like you can't say for most games). If you do want to check it out, you can go here and get a demo of the game for free: bombdogstudios.com?bdref=5i4hsxrjxy (you won't be able to play online, only against AI, but you'll be able to see if you like the feel of it). And I also recommend checking out the game's discord: discord.gg/uKv65rf Like I said, they are super nice and will be glad to set you on the right track if you decide to pick the game up! 😄
Like I said in a separate video: FromSoftware is a master with creating mech games! Unfortunately, not many people are fond of them. I love the overpowered nature of Armored Cores, but sometimes I want that tactical feeling, the feeling that I’m not some invincible entity of overwhelming firepower. This game is exactly that, it forces teamwork and good strategy. At least we have M.A.V. but I still prefer Chromehounds though. FromSoftware’s attention to detail is insanity.
I really yearn for a genuine "Armored Core-Style" Front Mission; I absolutely love the SRPGs, but Front Mission is so damn ripe with material for heavy mech combat, squad based tactics, and that more gritty, ballistic feeling of piloting this oily, dirty, massive machine of war.
Thanks for making this. Chrome hounds was my first taste of being part of a online gaming community or clan. The lobby where you can chat with your clan was amazing and the summer when I got it was spent playing this game and chatting with my squadmates and making new friends. Nothing but fond memories for this game.
Thank you for making this. I try so hard to explain how awesome this game was and no mech game since can compare. I miss chrome hounds so much ! This and shadow run
Former gamer tag: BIGfart7 (and eventually SR Stig). Was a member of both "House of Voodoo" and "SR CHROME" for a majority of my time playing. I made some of the longest lasting friendships on Chromehounds. "Chromehounds Builds" videos were one of my most popular UA-cam upload series on my original channel. To date, I've never invested more time in any game than this one, clocking just over 1,100 hours before the servers were shut down. This was an absolute blast to play and was blessed with many fond memories. One of the last missions we went out on was a full 6v6 in one of Talrakia's city maps; all our hounds were triple-doubles (accept for SR Syphor, performing his ever-gifted roll as Commander in "Big Meanie"). We lost the match but had a hell of a good laugh doing it. To any and all my fellow squad mates who see this, I miss you, pray you are doing well, and thank you for being such good friends.
i used the Rocket Wheelie. basically all the fastest parts with 4 of the best rockets. id straight arc that shit like artillery and score direct hits from like 100 meters. i was the bane of all snipers.
@@chrisnorris3641 que denzel Washington from training day. I used the heavy but when I didn't I used six rocket pods on a tread build with that rinky dink Sal Kar sniper on top of a spacer like a periscope.
I was born in 2007 but I remember the level of customisation of crime hounds. I never had xbox Live, so I couldn't play online, but I remember the tutorial
I’m split, because I liked the faster style of AC combat, but I also really enjoyed how methodical Chromehounds could feel. But we definitely need to see more games with a battlefield that changes depending on how your team is doing.
Pretty much Armored Core V and Verdict Day, actually. While V doesn't have the factions thing (rather, individual teams were the factions themselves), VD does. But, yeah, the whole forced team/clan business, territorial conquest, lack of communication ability with sortie members that weren't in your team/clan (mercs from other teams could be hired to fill squad spots if there weren't enough team members on). Like, the multiplayer model from Chromehounds was lifted directly to ACV and VD. Sadly, ACV's servers have been shut down, but VD's servers are still alive and kicking... For now.
Ah man I always built the super heavy 4-legged with 3 huge cannons and just find somewhere safe to hide whilst the squad scout would find the grid of the enemy base. Then I'd just fire in its rough direction until the scout told me I was on target at which point I'd unload all 3 cannons. I miss those days, I miss you 42nd Regiment.
Glad you enjoyed! Sorry you missed out on the multiplayer. There is still the framework there, so you can imagine it, but the multiplayer mode really was the real meat and potatoes. Here’s hoping we get something like it again in the future!
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact. Effectively the best mech game i ever played in my life. It died due to a massive duplication glitch destroying the in game economy.
This game was absolutely fantastic. A friend swiped my copy though 😂😢. I still have the guide book in a box. The modularity and options were so deep and the mechanics were so fun to learn. Having a group of homies that each specialized in a certain Hound and going to battle with them was such a blast. 10/10. I wish they would remake it but no doubt every part and Hound would be monetized. RIP Chromehounds 💜
Dude, sniper with the Sabre's and nade launcher commander. Unfortunately todays game market and development would ruin this game. Would love if CH2 came out but would hate it at the same time, same with Starwars Republic Commando.
My heart calls out to the nostalgia of this game. I remember being absolutely floored when I was little when I realized it had been shut down. Just imagine, if a game like this boomed in popularity the same way Escape from Tarkov or Among Us did.
Totally agree. The game had a lackluster offline-play, which could have been endlessly fun if the player was allowed to create custom matches with bots. The infrastructure was there, even down to giving commands like in the commander story arc. They reserved most of the cool content for online play, but it did shine in that regard. No other game allowed your team to deploy with custom creations to form strategies around, knowing you each only had one life; no respawns. Having to take note of the terrain, deployment conditions and comm towers really added so much depth to the gameplay, and it was clearly ahead of its time like you mentioned. Thanks for giving this old game some praise. It's one of my favorites ever made.
Thats crazy i just woke up with the idea "oh man i gotta watch a youtube video on that game...chrome...chromehounds!" I miss this game so fckin much man i used to play this every single day. If someone can just make this with updated graphic i'd pay $60 for real for real
I remember just chilling in the lobby talking with my guild mates as we built our mechs, and then we'd load into a pvp game and all that friendliness was replaced with seriousness and focus. I miss those days.
I'm surprised you didn't talk aboutt the one big Meta that was pretty prominent in the game. The "hide your cockpit behind all your parts" Meta. Since the if you just destroy the cockpit then the whole thing will go down, you would use spacers and move your cockpit to a safe place to keep yourself from popping, you can even see it in some of the footage. It was stupid to look at but effective cause it was stupid easy to blow someone up if they didn't do this. I'm wondering if MAV figured out a way to fix that issue cause it was pretty silly and immersion breaking. All in all, I definitely miss Chromehounds, such an amazing game that I just randomly decided to buy as a kid. when I first bought it, I didn't realize you had to join a clan in order to play online, I was stuck for awhile cause I was too nervous to talk with other people, but I mustered up the courage and joined a clan and never regretted it. It was so much fun, coming home from school, logging onto the game and seeing if any other clanmates were one to run some missions. I played mainly as a Sniper but would also play as a Sniper Command role as well if we needed a command role. Stacking my Sniper Rifles high in order to peak without exposing myself. Finding different ways to build my hounds. God such a great game.
I remember this team mission on a snowy mountain were we had guys down low and up high working together. I remember tearing through buildings in cities to sneak up behind enemies and take the win. So many good memories with this game. I miss it, maybe that's why I like blowing up buildings in battlefield now haha
Gigantic. It was so much fun with the third person sorta moba game. Builds were simple, yet still very entertaining to play. I could take the same character into multiple matches playing very differently. At least feeling different
I remember putting so many hours into this game with friends on OBL. One sure fire strategy was to have three people run hovercraft hounds with nothing but pylons and destroy the enemy base with one heavy gunner left behind just in case. The amount of salt we farmed from that build was amazing. I miss the feeling of your battles having a real impact on the game since they changed dynamics globally.
Awesome to see this video, easily my all time favorite game. I totally agree that they could use all the mp aspects of chromehounds in any game out there now and it would improve them 100 fold
I remember playing the games last boss in campaign mode with my friend. He was struggling and furious because he couldn't kill the last boss. (Really it was more like 3 bosses). So as a joke I told him to put all his tech in speed and piercing stab weapons which we nicknamed Mr. Prick. (lol we were in high school at the time XD) Hilariously enough it worked! Imagine having 3 badass mechs lose to a Tyco RC car with knives on it! My friend was so happy he pissed of his sister who was taking a nap. But god it felt great! Good times man. Very good times.
Watching CH footage for the first time in almost a decade, I still get an adrenaline dump unlike any other. My wife and I played it together, it was our WoW. I miss my builds so much sometimes.
My childhood right here, this game is hands down the most fun in a game ive had to date. Ive tried MAV and while i commend the group dedicated to it, i just cant get past the animations, the feel is there but the visual for me will never be the same. You said it best, it was a game ahead of its time.
My favorite mech had 6 cannons and 4 legs. Sat back until somebody wanted heavy support. That feeling of successfully shooting across the map. A dedicated mortar to fire smoke at my own feet if someone found me, hope you brought thermal vision too!
Lying in bed at 12am trying to fall asleep when out of nowhere the nostalgia of this wonderful game hit. I was 21 when this game released and living with my best friend at the time. I saw it in stores and decided why not give it a try, boy did this game not disappoint. I remember countless hours playing with my best bud. Him in his room and me in mine, joining matches together and yelling tactical call outs from across the house to each other lmao. The persistent war with it's political implications was so ahead of it's time. Completely different times now, I unfortunately don't even really talk to my old bud anymore. Yet this game will always hold a special place in my memories and heart for a simpler time having fun with friends and not worrying about the complex things like adulting. Lol.
Recently while playing helldivers 2 it reminded me a lot of the world map in chromehounds so i had to come back to this video just to relive some nostalgia
I actually keep an Xbox 360 around specifically to play the story mode. I mostly get my mech fix from the Battletech franchise but I have a deep attachment to playing Chromehounds with my brother growing up.
Chromehounds was such a jam in my teenage years. I do recommend checking out MAV, the community is probably the most friendly I’be ever encountered online!
Still here, still sad about the loss chromehounds. Another year has gone by yet this wound still festers. F to pay respects to THE greatest mech combat game of all time.
This was one of my first games for xbox, but I was like 11 back then and didnt play any online. Man I miss this game and wish I was old enough to had played online. Also, totally checking out MAV and sending you a sub.
I agree, this multi player was amazing! I would love to see an update or remake like many of y'all's. Towards the end the chicken cannons and double-doubles we're frustrating to constantly deal with but, so it goes
I loved this game I remember being in a match when the servers shut down. So sad for me. Me and my friend Melch designed so many unique builds. Such good memories trying to spawn the secret weapons. So many good squads Evolution, A-1-A, A-Nui, etc...etc... so many personalities. Galkor, Acts, Mechgunner, Mobius1, Maddad, Dukenukem64rocks.... etc...etc... best gaming experience of my life.
Galkor was my squad leader for the longest time. I cannot, for the life of me, remember the name of the squad that we were in at the time. The Wonderbreads & Drunken Clams are 2 other squads that come to mind. lol
Duuuude I would get my ass kicked by CH veterans online cuz I was a little late to the game but I still loved how even a weak underdog could get team kills and assist in capturing towers
This game was my jam in highschool. I would spend hours just making the wackiest builds just to see if they would work. between a heavily-armored sniper walker that could tank multiple shots from a Black Widow (if you know, you K N O W) to making a surprisingly-effective machinegun scout that ran without an engine, the possibilities were endless. the only game that came close for a time were Crossout and Robocraft, but the first is bigtime pay-to-win and the second nerfed my favorite build into the ground. This is the first time I've heard of MAV - gonna go look into it now!
Me and a great friend of mine did 2v2 in gamebattles in this. He was a sniper and i was artillery. That was some of the best times of my gaming ever. "He's in h-2 heading east, about 180 mph." "Got it, firing for effect." 5 seconds later "One direct hit two splashes behind him." I miss it so much.
This was my absolute favorite game growing up. From bullet drop to variable weapon kick to weight limits based on frame type the detailed build was second to none- even now.
One game that I miss that I think will forever be lost to the ether is Warhawk, an early release on PS3. I love love loved that game, the constant struggle for air control and ground control happening together hasn't been matched since.
A lot of people have been suggesting I make this into a series of “games that have had their servers shut down.” I’ll add Warhawk to the list! I haven’t played it, but I’ll do some research
@@SaveDataTeam Haha it may or may not be worth your time, it could just all be nostalgia for me. Something nice about it is that players could host on their PS3, so theoretically it could still work if someone emulated the server list and people connected by changing their DNS settings. Also it had LAN, such a rare feature these days.
I just stumbled across this video and it melted my heart. Halo 3 and Chromehounds were my 2 favorite games on the xbox 360 at the time before I found Garrysmod only to never look back and went PC back in 2008. Never have I felt so old but young at the same time, thanks for the memory lol.
Hearing you saying it was 10 years ahead of its time is so accurate although id argue 15+, I havnt come close to an experience like chrome hounds since... Really forced you into a community which isn't a bad thing for a complex game. I didn't know what meta was back then 😅 but had fun and would win.
BRING IT BACK NOW! You know how kids can be annoying in game? Played a match with a couple older gents and they accepted me and invited me to AOW after 1 match and we wrecked shit 24/7. I felt like a boss....
At least your heartbreak has a happy ending, if I had a month to go through all of my gaming disappointments, I’d probably have PTSD. Eternal Darkness, and Too Human are the first to pop into my head (both from Silicon Knights), and although ED got good reviews it was on the GameCube which nobody really liked (that wasn’t already a Nintendo fan). On the other hand though, gaming has never been stronger. I finally jumped ship from console gaming, and found that PC truly is the only way to go… I don’t know if it was always this good, but the fact that I can emulate just about every console, and play those games with all kinds of visual upgrades/effects, plus the never ending supply of amazing indie games (that are either very cheap, or FREE!) makes me wonder what took me so long to realize what I was missing?! Now I just need Nintendo to stop bothering the people who make fan games, and Sony to release the Demon’s souls remake on PC and I’ll be set.
Chromehounds online was so awesome. I loved the real-time war with the different factions, the auction system to aquire unique parts, and the ability to customize your mech to no end!
I played everyday when this game came out on xbox.. I loved it.. Snipers Inc squadron. "Chaoslore" I played as 2 mechs.. a compact very compact commander with a sat dish, and a Tank with 2 howis, and 4 dumfire rockets. fully armored. loved the Wars, the expansive multiplayer. we really need a Chromehounds 2..
I just recently heard about this game thanks to AngryJoe mentioning it. I did a UA-cam search and came across your video. I wasn't in a good situation when this game came out. I had no idea about it! I would've likely been all over it if I had known. Thank you for your video :)
I miss this game so damn much. You could do whatever you wanted in multiplayer in a completely viable way. Fast gun cart? You can do it. Completely recon based mech for callouts? Go for it.
I miss it so much, I picked it up on the used shelf of a local game store only seeing the mech on the front and knowing nothing about it, I brought it home and was wowed by how different it was than I was expecting (Mechwarrior series). As I learned to play it, I learned to love it. It was one of my favorite games, and then life got busy, I came back to it years later to find no more servers... I was torn, even Mechwarrior online or hawken couldn't fill that same void, thank you for showing us MAV, I am definetly excited to get into it!
I loved this game, and had a big clan. I cant remember what my clan name was anymore, but I had them all call me Zero,. I haven't been the leader of a clan in a game or otherwise since then, but it brings back great memories.
The summer i had off school with this game i spent +250 hours playing this with my best friend and our squad. Having a 6 sniper, inverse bipedal and hidden cockpit mech was OP.
I’m 32 now but I remember in high school on my 4th 360, (three red rings of death consoles), playing this game and loving it. Multiplayer was addictive and the gameplay was so fun. Don’t look now but the same company that made the beloved elden ring also made chromehounds. I dunno if chromehounds is a masterpiece but it sure felt ahead of it’s time during the 360 heyday.
That faction system reminds me of the system in heroes and generals, you would join a faction and play as them in game but you could also use warfunds to buy assault teams which would add different units people could use in game, leading to sometimes being against planes as only infantry and tanks.
My love for this game has never died, I played it so much as a kid, I honestly still search up to see if someones made a mod/emulator for the game to PC, something to let me use multiplayer parts in singleplayer, anything at all. The game's aesthetic was so unique, like WW2 battleships on legs or treads, I loved it. I go back to games from my childhood all the time, but I can't with chromehounds, and that hurts me. The only thing I could do to ease the pain of seeing the servers die was upload the entire soundtrack to UA-cam since no one ever did a proper rip of the OST, it warmed my heart seeing so many people nostalgic at the music that plays when a multiplayer war ends and the credits roll. I was just happy to finally have the Unidentified Weapon theme in as good a quality as possible. MAV is looking better and better by the day but It's still missing a lot of the things I loved in chromehounds, the unique and interesting universe, the mech designs that caught my eye and their unique animations, stuff like that. I hope it succeeds however, maybe a bigger studio can catch wind of it and get to work on something similar. We need more mech games like this in the world.
@@SaveDataTeam the garage theme is iconic to me but the unidentified weapon theme holds a special place in my heart. That and the song I titled "Let Loose the HOUNDs of War", both songs were used in the games trailers which I watched endless amounts before the game released. They're so bombastic, the bass feels like the stomping of a massive metal machine striding into the battlefield.
I remember seeing a review of this game on X-Play in '06 and being hooked before I even played. I wish they'd put this on the Xbox store, but I'm more than willing to get a 360 on Amazon to play it again, seeing this made me tear up a bit. I made my first real internet friend on this game. 5 years later we end up finding each other at university. We've now been married for 3 years and have a daughter on the way, and it all started with Chromehounds
I actually had a pimp my hound service for a while. I was a master mechanic but an even better hound painter. People would email me hand drawn ideas they wanted as paint jobs and I would make it happen. I was so good in the paintshop I could crank em out quick.
I still have the game, I never got to play online but I have beat the story mode 100% like 8 times it's still fun to just mess around on the missions. Really hope a sequel is made someday
I have been waiting for so long for a video about chromehounds, I miss this game so much, one of the best games I've ever played and a lot of people I know who game don't remember it 😭
Same! This is what lead me to create this video in the first place. It’s such a forgotten gem. I’m very happy with the response on comments though. It seems everyone remembers loving this game 😁
Such a forgotten gem. I haven't thought about this game in maybe a decade, but holy crap did I have so much fun with this. It was the summer that I graduated highschool, so I played the helllll out of this game. Though unlikely, I'd love to see a sequel.
says Sega on the box, but fromsoftware made this between Armored core 3 and the new gen 4, which V went away from kinda and then we have the glorius AC6. I loved this game, the tactics and designs were so much fun. It had a good community too. They prolly went to AC 4 and 4A, and that is where the organized blade duels of lore happened! A true gamer creation within the game itself. I used two main builds in Chromehounds, a heavily armored multi rocket pod tank build, and then a wheelie mech with 2x2 heavy rocket pod kinda like in the video. The trick was if u tapped the trigger quick u could shoot one rocket at a time, and if u did it right, could then just hold down and have a machine gun style of constant fire.... and then u just circled the heavies and done! Such great memories. This game is also when the decal system changed from the OG pixel base like in the older Armored Core games. AC4 and on adapted the adjustable layers and shapes with custom color system. We now have a borderline photoshop mini game in AC6... Amazing! The innovation in Chromehounds is amazing, and its tragic its so forgotten.
I am so glad I decided to look up chromehounds just now and found out about mav, I gotta check it out. I have been given hope that I can fill the void that was left by chromehounds
Like I say in the video, it’s still a little rough around the edges, but the community is so small and dedicated they pretty much all know each other by name and are super welcoming to join. I recommend checking it out to see if it scratches the same itch!
One of my favorite things that I did in chromehounds was that I found out that there was a particular combination of condenser and cockpit along with scout Wheels that would let me hover. I remember driving off a cliff, activating the condenser, and my friends yelling at me that I was in a flying car!
I burned through 3 or 4 discs of this game. it had some janky and annoying exploits but was amaizng (I played scout and heavy gunner classes mostly) unfortunately when I checked out MAV when it was announced I thought it would die/make the same balance mistakes. and life got in the way so I forgot about it. redownloaded it today to give it a try.

Cheesy builds may have ruined it towards the end, but I agree. I miss this game so much and it holds a special place in my heart.
I'm so happy that there are others that had this strong nostalgia of this game. I loved playing Chromehounds.
The response to making this video has been amazing. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who remembered this game.
same i can't stop talking to my friends about this game whenever they bring up mech games
Only thing is I hated the single player, multi-player was A++

chicken legs with double dl cannons were op in the beginning then they changed it
in the end people were building wheel carts with granades
Yeah I had a cart build. Did the same thing with wheel chasis and machine guns. Just a gnat buzzing around slowly chewing parts off of other Hounds.
Wow, there are other things to do with your life
This is the best video explaining Chromehounds to date. I'm looking forward to seeing you in MAV.

Mav had better have melee options like chromehounds did. That was fun and stupid to do.
^ it does haha. And it can also be a little OP 😅
I was 14 when this game came out and it was mind-blowing; definitely ahead of it's time, just like Phantom Dust on the OG Xbox, with it's Multiplayer.
Lots of late nights and Pepsi
I miss cruising around in my "triple double" so much
I was just thinking about my triple double the other day. Crazy

Same. I LOVED this game. It owned a summer of my life, and I will never forget it.
Hello cousin.
Man, I had so much fun on this with friends back in the day. An absolute gem of a multiplayer game.
To this day I occasionally yell FOR MORSKOJ
Everyone needs to check out MAV, the combat and garage are dead on to CH.
Yeah, Bombdog has pretty much nailed the feel of Chromehounds in MAV. I’m super hyped for the next update! 😅
That's right, come play some multiplayer matches with us!
Im definitely going to see if it'll run on my laptop.
When I build my pc this is the first game I buying, holy smokes!!!!!
7:16 I think the sessions model and electing new politicians as a way to suggest new features is a great idea.
It was such a cool feature and over a decade later, nothing similar has been done since!
Ah, Chromehounds.... so much memories....
My favorite type was Defender, with Morskoj cockpit and big ass guns... so much fun to play...
So much fun. I wish we had more customizable mech games since then. 😭
i used the Rocket Wheelie. basically all the fastest parts with 4 of the best rockets. id straight arc that shit like artillery and score direct hits from like 100 meters. i was the bane of all snipers.
@@chrisnorris3641 que denzel Washington from training day. I used the heavy but when I didn't I used six rocket pods on a tread build with that rinky dink Sal Kar sniper on top of a spacer like a periscope.
@@tony19893994 "You know I'm surgical with this bitch, Jake!"
I love that movie.
When I was 17 I broke my back, I spent almost the entirety of my recovery playing Chromehounds. It makes me so sad that it's no longer playable
I was born in 2007 but I remember the level of customisation of crime hounds. I never had xbox Live, so I couldn't play online, but I remember the tutorial
Such an underrated game. It'd be nice if someone made a remake.
We need a remake, i loved this game as a kid was so unique and ahead for its time. I use to enjoy scouting with a radar to assist my team
A new Armored Core game with AC singleplayer and Chromehounds-style multiplayer would be so good.
I’m split, because I liked the faster style of AC combat, but I also really enjoyed how methodical Chromehounds could feel. But we definitely need to see more games with a battlefield that changes depending on how your team is doing.
I loved the slower pace of CH compared to AC, it really made you feel the weight of the machine, AC feels more like Prince of Persia in comparison
That is a pretty good comparison! And having to balance the speed of your hound with its armor and weapons was a really rewarding experience.
Thanks for making a video on this I only was able to play CH after the shut down
Glad you enjoyed! Sorry you missed out on the multiplayer. There is still the framework there, so you can imagine it, but the multiplayer mode really was the real meat and potatoes. Here’s hoping we get something like it again in the future!
You missed out big this game was so so good such a shame Sega shut it down :(
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact. Effectively the best mech game i ever played in my life. It died due to a massive duplication glitch destroying the in game economy.
My cousin and me would get high as hell and play this for hours and wish I knew how lucky I was to play it when I did.
@@Thunderwolf47 yessss! I had been begging for a Republic Commando remake for years but careful what you wish for these days
My heart calls out to the nostalgia of this game. I remember being absolutely floored when I was little when I realized it had been shut down.
Just imagine, if a game like this boomed in popularity the same way Escape from Tarkov or Among Us did.
With the popularity of games like Tarkov and Valheim, I could easily imagine it succeeding today!
Same. I’m just glad so many other people remember it so fondly! 😁
Building and testing new mech builds in group combat was so addicting and the combat was immersive.
My friends and I still miss this masterpiece. Why does Fortnight exist and this doesn't? cruel world!
Thats crazy i just woke up with the idea "oh man i gotta watch a youtube video on that game...chrome...chromehounds!" I miss this game so fckin much man i used to play this every single day. If someone can just make this with updated graphic i'd pay $60 for real for real
Same. It’s wild no major AAA company has tried to recreate the game at all. I guess they’re just afraid with how poorly Chromehounds sold.
I wish they bring this back. The shear customization and teamwork required was INSANE
It was a real gem 💎
With armored core coming out, I hope FromSoft goes back to this game! I miss it!
The most underrated from software game of all time
I remember putting so many hours into this game with friends on OBL.
I’ll never stop saying it - the online mode was a decade ahead of its time.
Prick. (lol we were in high school at the time XD)
Hilariously enough it worked!
It was wild finding all this footage. Hit me right in the nostalgia!
@@SaveDataTeam I was live when the servers went down, such a pang of loss. I still haven't forgiven Sega fully.
Great video. Can you do a follow up with Armored Core V/Veredict Day which pretty much uses the perpetual war concept?
I miss this game so much. MAV is out there, but it's not the same.
Talk about a throw back. I looked forward to the weekends mainly to do a weekend online campaign and actually making a difference
Lol.
that game was very good, i was so young i couldn't go any further in the story
Omg thank you so much for this video. I remember having so much fun with my clan mates. And the boss fights were amazing
Recently while playing helldivers 2 it reminded me a lot of the world map in chromehounds so i had to come back to this video just to relive some nostalgia
Please come back Chromehounds!!!!
F to pay respects to THE greatest mech combat game of all time.
woah, yes. Still my favorite game of all time
As I see you're a man of culture as well.
This was one of my first games for xbox, but I was like 11 back then and didnt play any online. Man I miss this game and wish I was old enough to had played online.
Also, totally checking out MAV and sending you a sub.
Thank you very much! I appreciate it! 😊
The Wonderbreads & Drunken Clams are 2 other squads that come to mind. lol
I remember a canadian named fackers. He was a lot of fun. Double Double mechs were all the rage
Duuuude I would get my ass kicked by CH veterans online cuz I was a little late to the game but I still loved how even a weak underdog could get team kills and assist in capturing towers
I miss this game so much
This game was my jam in highschool.
"He's in h-2 heading east, about 180 mph."
"Got it, firing for effect."
5 seconds later
"One direct hit two splashes behind him."
I miss it so much.
This game is amazing. I'm actually buying it again. I believe it was to complex for people to get into.
I bought it again after the online servers were closed, it unfortunately wasn’t the same, but it’s legacy lives on with the hopes of MAV.
I absolutely loved this game and was so addicted to it. For those who got into it, this is like the pinnacle of multiplayer
Yeah I’m trippin’ out here. I was a massive AC fan & never even heard of this game.
It’s in-game mechanics for multiplayer seem so deep & tactical.
This was my absolute favorite game growing up. From bullet drop to variable weapon kick to weight limits based on frame type the detailed build was second to none- even now.
The full customization and evolving tactics kept the game fresh right to the end, and it was 100% player driven. Still think about it all the time.
I'm going to miss this forever. I still play the campaign to this day, and will always be a Hound veteran.
Glory to the Republic of Morskoj!
It truly was a unique multiplayer experience! Hopefully someone will try and apply some of the features into another multiplayer campaign.
You’re picking a good time to get into it too! The MAV community is starting to get really invested in multiplayer matches!
This game deserved to be more popular than it was. I have many great memories of it
Same! RIP
I loved this game, and had a big clan. I cant remember what my clan name was anymore, but I had them all call me Zero,. I haven't been the leader of a clan in a game or otherwise since then, but it brings back great memories.
I pray that they bring this game back every year. So much nostalgia.
I totally agree. Was the best MECH game ever. No other MECH game has met this games play to date.
Armored core
Aah man i really miss this game. It was short. But was so much fun with it while it lasted! I remember how sad i was when they took the servers down..
I still listen to the garage theme from Chromehounds every now and then. It's so oddly iconic to me. Even more than so many other major game songs.
Omg I LOVED this game when I was 14-15, I LOVED playing as a artillery heavy gunner!!
I got some insane trophy on this for basically ranking #1 on it. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Just hearing that menu music sent me back nearly 2 decades.
Looking back, it's crazy how good this game was for 2006..! those faction wars were epic too!
im so mad i had the game and loved it, played the campaign a billion times but was like -2 years old so i never conidered multiplayer.
I burned through 3 or 4 discs of this game. it had some janky and annoying exploits but was amaizng (I played scout and heavy gunner classes mostly)
unfortunately when I checked out MAV when it was announced I thought it would die/make the same balance mistakes. and life got in the way so I forgot about it. redownloaded it today to give it a try.
