I think people overestimate their own artistic skills in these cases: They think drawing and cutting out a simple 5-point star is easy... And I'm not saying it's hard, but doing it perfectly? Free-hand? With no tools of any kind? You could get a basic star-shaped stencil for practically nothing anywhere that sells art supplies or school supplies. Nobody's going to think less of you if your Homestar Runner costume doesn't have a hand-drawn star... As we've seen, nobody really cares HOW you get a proper five point star on your costume...as long as you actually DO😉
The baby dressed as the jibblies painting is perfect. The costume is well done and how they managed to get the kid to have that mischievous smile is awesome.

Third: I wanted to tell people the story of my costume, especially the part about the "expertly cut out" maple leaf. See, I'm from Canada, so I do have a lot of practice drawing maple leaves. I figured I could draw one reasonably well. However, I wanted it to be less than perfect, so I drew that leaf freehand, instead of tracing it. I also didn't at all edit the shape I drew. I thought it would be funnier that way. When I cut the leaf out, it was noticeably lopsided. But by some ridiculous chance... when I angled my body towards the camera, it was at EXACTLY the right angle to make the leaf look like it's the right shape. And I didn't notice that until I heard Homestar's commentary. Heh. Oh, and if anyone was curious about the candy cane... Homestar doesn't have visible arms, but naturally, I do. So, when trying to decide what to do with my hands, I chose to make a hook hand from a Canadi-cane (as Strong Bad called it in the "World Games" video).
